The ducks have only made the playoffs twice in the last 4 years, but they are the best p/o team?

Check your facts buddy. The Duck have not only made the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years they've made the WCFinals 3 of the last 4 years and are about to go to the Stanley Cup finals for the second time in that run. The Duck record in the playoffs over the last 4 years is FAR FAR superior to the Wings or ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.

The Duck......................The Duck.......................The Duck?

That just sounds so weird. It sounds like an oversized man walking around thinking that they are so great and talking in Third Person, saying something like "The Pronger doesn't like that!", "The Pronger is upset!", or "The Pronger likes little duckies".

I mean really guys........ The Duck? Your team name is The Ducks. With an "S"!

It's hard to take you seriously if you don't even say your team name right!

What a thread. I just got done reading though it since I posted back on page 2 or 3. Anyway, here's NFM's take on what's been said.

First and foremost, I always find it funny when someone thinks the X-Factor to a series is *always* a player on their team. The truth of the matter is that there is generally atleast one X-Factor on both sides (one being the hero and the other being the goat). Guerin and Marleau were definitely X-Factors throughout the last series in the negative sense. A key injury is another version of an X-Factor (See the 2002 St. Louis Blues losing Pronger......not that they had a chance anyway against that Wings team :P ).

Also, I find it hilarious that fans make comments about how their team is just playing so d*mn well, and as a result no one can beat them. The fact of the matter is, both teams must be playing pretty d*mn well or they wouldn't be where they are....which is the WCF's. The truth is both Detroit and Anaheim have won 8 games. Nothing more, nothing less.

The Duck record in the playoffs over the last 4 years is FAR FAR superior to the Wings or ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.

And yet these statistics over the last 4 years are the important ones:

2005-06 - Carolina Hurricanes

2003-04 - Tampa Bay Lightning

2002-03 - New Jersey Devils

2001-02 - Detroit Red Wings

We recognize that Anehiem is a good team......I doubt anyone here would dispute that.

Only one statistic REALLY counts in the long run, and until you get that stat in the sheets, it's all just fluff.

so far superior, that you never made it all the way even once, and you missed them once? a reasonable way to put it would have been "The Ducks (mind the S) are a solid playoff team". Now you just look stupid.

Wing in 3.

And Lidstrom WILL win the Norris trophy over both those ****** Ducks. I love it. They have two guys nominated(same as we did in 02 with Cheli and Nick) yet neither of their bums are winning s***. Lidstrom will be making even more space for his mantle. WOOOO!

Yeh Pronger's gonna win the Norris over Nick Lidstrom. What the hell's in their drinking water out there or s***, maybe it's the sun blinding their eyes and giving them severe heatstroke. Get real. This is Detroit Red Wings hockey. What every other team strives to be, measures their own success by. Wow, the view sure is nice all the way up here at the top.

Go WINGS!!!

BTW, don't ducks drink from the same water they s*** in? :P

Wow this is great stuff!

DUCK POWER!...........(Ha…I mean seriously, listen to yourselves)

The ducks have had an easy (the easiest) road to the finals of any team. Yes, they have two very strong defensemen. They also have an decent offense, but nothing really special. The Wings have faced the two toughest teams in the west (if not the league) to play against already…….and won. Old/Soft/Slow can all be thrown out as I believe we have obviously proven those labels incorrect.

If you duckys really think you will be rolling right over us, I hope you’re well stocked with Jack Daniels and Pepto…….cus this is going to be upsetting.

This will be a good series, could go the stretch.

In the end I don’t think the Flying V can even save you. ;)

Well I think the soft and slow have answered themselves the past couple rounds, apperently the Wings aren't TOO soft or slow. As far as old, really is this that old?...............

I mean, 12 of 18 skaters are 30 or younger. Cheli and Dom have far out perfromed much younger opponents, so I don't see age as mattering much when it comes to them. Only 5 are over 35 and one of them is Nick Lidstrom---speaks for himself, best Dman in the game. So really, I put little to no stock in age being a factor to begin with, but it's not like the Wings are really all that old when you look at it.

I have a friend, who is in no way a Wings fan. I asked him last night what he thought of the upcoming series. He really thought San Jose would beat the Wings, he doesn't think the Ducks can. He said the Ducks lack of depth and experience will cost them the series in the end. I'm going to take his opinion over a Ducks fan's opinion any day.

Check my facts? Ok.

Ducks:

02- Did not make the playoffs

03- Lost in the finals

04- Did not make the playoffs

06- Lost in WCF in 5 games

Those are the last 4 playoff years. You need to check your facts.

In that same span, the Wings have won a cup, so you are not far, far superior to them in any way.

Win the cup this year before you talk about being the best playoff team by far. Sure you made the wcf last year, but edmonton sent you home in 5 games, at least we won two against them.

Ducks suck, Ducks are too inexperienced as a whole, Ducks are *******, Ducks are goons, all the Ducks can do is fight, Ducks are ***.

Oh yeah and the Ducks have never won s***. And that trend will continue for years to come. HAHAHA!

Very childish post and shows ignorance. You are in for a shock. Ducks in five. The Sharks were pathetic and the Wings were not that impressive in that series. Don't put too much stock in that series because the Ducks are a better team than the Sharks.

So you didn't watch the series then? You've got to be kidding if you honestly think the Sharks were pathetic and the Wings were not impressive in the series. First off despite the Sharks not bringing their "A" game they were still a very tough team to play. They are no where near pathetic. As for the Wings, coming back from being down on the scoreboard in three games to win is not impressive? Being down 2-0 and tying/winning a game with seconds left or OT isn't impressive? Hasek playing fantastic isn't impressive? The 'small-soft' Wings shutting down the toughest team in the league..still not impressive? Please know what the hell you're talking about, or better yet ask the Sharks fans about that series before you come on here and make yourself look foolish with such comments.

This is exactly what you said in the other thread. You remind me of this SJ fan, honestly it's strikingly similar. I tell you what I told him. Lets wait and see what happens.

And to add to this, why is it that a good portion of Ducks fans keep claiming that the Sharks were pathetic and didn't bring their "A" game? Could it possibly be because Detroit shut their "A" game down, thus causing them to look pathetic? Can the same be said about Minnesota or Vancouver?

Or is that completely out of the realm of possibility?

Everyone's favorite shark fan spamadelphia had this to say, very similar to alot of s*** talk i'm hearing before this series. Keep in mind Blue Monk called him out to see if he'd stick around if his "sharks in 5" theory didn't hold up. Well, it didn't nor did he. Can't say I'm surpirsed.......

Spamadelphia--(just add Duck where you see Sharks, and likewise with some players names)

a. No I'm not, I'm assuming that the Wings have some physicality but have not faced a team like the Sharks. Not only did the Sharks physicality crush the Wings in the regular season, but they added Guerin and Rivet.

b. All lines can score, but the Wings do not have a 4th line that can match the like of Clowe, Goc, Bernier.

c. Zdeno Chara is vastly overrated. I've said so for 2 years. That being said, there's a reason the experts are nearly unanimous in picking the Sharks. They are huge, they are fast, and they are skilled. They forecheck relentlessly and will wear the Wings down.

d. Again trying to equate what the Wings did to the Flames to what they'll do to the Sharks. The Flames are not in the same league as the Sharks, and you will find out soon.

Sharks in 5...

Don't forget this dandy after Game 4 against the Sharks:

That was the last game the redwings are winning this season period.

:P To Spam's credit, he atleast came in here and ate his crow/congratulated the Wings and their fans after the series was over.

All season long the Predabillys on here were annoying in a "we're totally clueless about hockey" sort of way, but they were tolerated...

The Calgary fans were mostly goons, like their team.

The Sharks fans were cool. I can't understand why more of them don't wear Sharks jerseys/shirts to the games, but they were into it. Their team was great and it was a clean, extraordinarily entertaining series.

The Quacks seem to reflect the nature of their team, with Prick-Pronger being representative of the rest of the ilk.

As I said before, I hate their team, their families, their neighbors, and their pets and the series hasn't even STARTED yet!
