Wing Nut

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

first off if you are talking about anyone of disney.com.com then you can not count them as real ducks fans. they are pathetic excuses for fans. How can you guys even take a forum serious that has F*** the Wings as one of the topics.

DISCLAIMER* To all Red Wings fans DO NOT view disney.com.com fans as true Ducks fans. They are nearly bandwagon fnas that talk S*** and cant back up anything with true facts. I apologize ahead of time for any ridiculous comments and excessive trash talking.

thanks

-tim

I feel no sympathy, and I will continue to view Ducks fans as idiotic assholes until proven otherwise. They came here and starting trashing this board with just utter bulls***. I could care less what goes on at their own forums, but when they bring it here, that's when I get mad.

I'm starting to wonder if we're going to be the ones who surprises the Ducks? Think about it, the Ducks have had an easy ride to the WCF ONLY playing Minnesota and Vancouver. Both were done in 5 games. We played two tough 6 game series against Calgary and San Jose.

We maybe the team more ready to go. Plus, Anahiem has been sitting around and waiting for a while.

I think Im gonna start watching Sabre/Sens game tomorrow.

Well, any major hockey fan will DEFINITELY be tuning into that one!! I'm excited as hell to see who we're going to play for the Cup. (woops, over-confident) :P

All kidding aside, I have a pretty good friend that lives in Ottawa, and they are my Eastern Conference team.. here's to ya Sens, whip them small/speedy/non-physical Sabres into submission. IPB Image

Good one.

Present me with something that gives me the thought that not all Ducks fans are dickf***s like what I've seen here lately. I can believe the fact that all fans of a single fanbase can be bad people. Case and Point: St. Louis Blues fans.

Why should I show you guys any class? Your fellow Ducks fans have given me enough reason not too.

By the way, thanks for the personal attack. Sorry I'm not bending over and cheering you guys on to continue to troll and post the crap that's been going on here. Go do it at your own forums.

name a town that doesn't have bandwaggoners and overly cocky fans? name a town that doesn't have a newspaper that doesn't try to boost their sales by writing fluff articles on the hot local sports team.

everyone knows that this is going to be a great series. simply ignore anyone who says otherwise.

Agreed.

I say Wings in 6 ( 1 ot win )

I think the difference in the series will be depth, the ducks have nothing past Pronger and Niedermeyer on D...they do not have enuff offense. I think games 1-4 will be low scroing and tight until Pronger and Niedermayere start to wear down after tthe Wings are able to roll 4 lines at them. They are averaging 30 and 29 mins each...that won't work against the Wings skill.

It's a double standard then. I definitly didn't expect Ducks fans to be as bad as I've seen so far.

I'll stop with my over-the-top comments, as maybe I'm getting a little too flusterd over this. Next time I see another gold mine post of DUKS IN FIVE5!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!1 though, don't expect me to hold back.

KPs not really an ignorant fan. Its just that this bulls*** has been happening on our board for the past three rounds, and honestly Ducks fans have been the worst so far. We had some real honest, funny, classy Sharks fans come on here and talk hockey with us, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. But so far, the board has 1) been absolutely flooded with Ducks fans more than fans of any other team and 2) been inundated with their posts of complete ignorance and lack of class, like you suggest KP is doing here. However, if you compare the majority of KPs posts and Ducks fans posts theres really no contest.

Honestly, as has been proved in the past, if you come in here and dont go on about "Ducks in 3, 5 at the most" or "Beauchemin got robbed of a Norris Nom" then you will be treated with respect and class, however, the bad has far outweighed the good and its getting hard to keep track of which Ducks fan is which.

WINGS SUCK!!!!! etc.

go on allducks if you want to have any real loyal ducks fans

dont go on anaheim ducks forum or disney.com

there stupid fans and dont rep the true duck fans

As for the matchup itself, its no surprise that Duck fans and the press are so cocky....and basically for one reason. Their blueline boasts Niedermayer and Pronger. Thats impressive, however, their standouts are equal to our depth. Lilja, Chelios, and rookie Quincey have been studs so far.

Both teams have weaknesses, both have strengths, both deserve to be in this round - which makes me happy considering, IMO, the top 2 teams in each conference are in the finals. However, Im saying Wings in 6. Not because "OMG da Wingz r sooo ammazing and will dominate the ducks like whoa" but because I have no choice to believe in my team, I made a bet with my buddy that the Wings win every series in 6 at the start of the playoffs, and because I would love love love to see a Wings-Sens SCF knowing that FINALLY a Euro Captain would win the cup and put all that bulls*** and prejudice to rest.

Thanks for the support. :)

No problem. Ive wanted to go off on plenty of these guys so far...

Calgary fans were cordial.

San Jose fans had more moxie but they were OK. You might recall "SamAdelphia".

Ducks fans are across the board between OK and ass holish. Some are trash talking because they are confident about the Ducks chances. I say fine...let them pump up the Ducks and s*** all over the Wings.

I will note this...if the Wings are up 2-0 in the series...I guarantee Ducks fans will avoid this board like it was a porn site for super fat 50 year old women from the trailor park.

Here's a tip. Ignore them. Who cares what they think.

well if you are talking depth on defense then i think that the wings are on the shorter end of the stick. You are deffently underestimating the ducks D. Pronger is a wings killer as you remember last year and frankly so do the ducks! Niedemeyer is the best skater in the NHL and doesnt seem to get tired no matter how long he plays for. Beachumin is one of the most underrated players in the NHL. past Lidstrom the ducks have the better D

order i believe is from best to least best...

1. Lidstrom

2. S. Niedermeyer

3. Pronger

4. Beauchemin

5. Schneider ( who doesnt even play a role in this series do to the injury)

6. Chelios

7. Markov (even though he hasnt showed up in the playoffs)

8. Lebda

9. Huskins

10. Quincey

11. Lijla

12. Dipenta

i really dont think that 8-12 are really going to have much positive effects for either team. If wings and ducks are going to be rolling basically the top 2 pairings then i feel the ducks have a slight advantage. I think Beauchmin is a real dealbreaker for the Ducks on D.

I dont think either teams D is going to make or break this series.

its the matchup of the Shut Down line of Moen-R.Niedermeyer-Pahlsson (wins my vote for most underrated player in the league) vs. the Datsyuk line.

also if the Ducks can keep the best man in front of the net man in the NHL (Holmstrum) then they will have a good chance at winning the series. But if jiggy cant see the puck cause he is screened then he cant stop it and if that happens alot in the series i would give the series to the wings.

You guys are in for a surprise though with the kid line of Penner-Perry-Getzlaf line. They are going to make it rough for chelios down low and dont be shocked to see them dominate.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting called closed-minded if you're going to lump people in with "dickf***s" and idiots simply for rooting for the same team that the real idiots do. Let's try to separate the trolls from the ones who are making an honest effort. The trolls have been banned anyway.

Back on topic, maybe this article's been posted before, maybe it hasn't.....right now my Internet connection is too slow to bother reading through all the pages of this thread. It's not just the press that's cocky, it's the Ducks themselves:

"I think maybe we can take advantage of that by using our speed and maybe being physical on these guys," Beauchemin said. "We've got to play a physical game."

To center Andy McDonald, the key is not being lured into playing the Red Wings' game.

"They're a puck-possession team. If you're going to play into that, you're not going to beat them," he said. "For us, it means being physical on them, stopping the progression. If you're going to chase them all over the ice and run all over the place, they're going to pick you apart.

"We want to finish our checks so they can't play that give-and-go hockey. And be physical. They've got some key guys that we can wear down as the series goes on."

Makes me laugh and laugh. The Ducks are officially in trouble. Big trouble. Calgary thought they could wear the Wings down with physical play, and got checked right out of the building. San Jose thought they could wear the Wings down with physical play and speed, and collapsed like a trailer in a tornado. What makes the Ducks different?

The Wings are no longer a puck possession team. Beating the Wings isn't as simple as crushing the old guys into the boards. The Wings will control the series until the Ducks figure out otherwise.

As are you guys with Filppula, Franzen, and Cleary (not necessarily on the same line.) All the talk about the Wings' age ignores the immense contribution these guys have made. Cleary has barely made a scratch on the scoresheet and yet many of us feel he's been the MVP of the playoffs so far, he's had that kind of impact on the play. And it is a near-certainty that at least once during this series, Filppula will outhustle a Duck to the puck and it will directly result in a goal. Perhaps a very meaningful one. Count on it - it's happened already.

And I think your defensive analysis short-shrifts the Wings quite a bit. Lilja's been phenomenal so far this postseason. Better than Markov, better than Lebda, way better than Huskins or Quincey. If you don't account for Lilja in the defensive depth argument, you're in for another nasty surprise.

You are vastly underestimating 'The Pain Train.' Lilja has been a huge key to the Wings D this post season, and is only getting better. What's this about Danny not showing up in the playoffs? He's been fantastic. Shutting down forwards, making great defensive plays, hitting, sticking up for his teammates..etc. He's relentless.
