"No Pronger, we still won, Wings are done"

I love the up and down of hockey fans. Tie up a series and the other team is done! *snicker*

It's down to a best of three series now, with at least 2 more games to be played. I'm sticking with my Wings in 7 predicition...this series has been so back and forth it's maddening, and I don't see that changing at all!

Ducks have not had many Wins in our building. I can't foresee them being able to do that more than once this post season - game 5 is definely ours and we can ride that momemtum back for game 6!

Two days off between these games may hurt the Ducks momentum from last nights win a bit. Wings know what's on the line. And the Joe will be Rockin' Loud!!!!!!!

I'll be there doing my best to cheer the team on and BOO Pronger the whole game, I'm confident the Wings will find a way to win. They are on a mission this year. Go Wings

Im not sure I understand exaclty how Giggy beat us.

We scored 3 goals on him.

I dont think he played exceptionally well last night at all.

Giggy beat the Wings because he turned it up on the 5 on 3s....

Other than those times, he was pretty average I agree.....

There are times when you can completely outplay your opponent and they still win the game.

If Detroit comes out with the same effort and intensity in the JLA on Sunday, chances are it'll be a win....

Its a 3 game set now, the best team is gonna win. From the beginning i thought this would go 7 and it appears headed that way. I wouldn't call any goalie average in the first game i thought both played really well. Hasek came back down to earth for a game and Giguere made the stops when the ducks needed them. On to game 5,should be a good one. We'll see how it pans out on sunday and then revisit your non-worried demeanor. LOL

I didn't call Giguere an average goalie, i said he's been playing average this series, and he has been. Hasek normally clamps down around game 5 or 6 and I think he'll do the same.

If the wings lose game 5, yeah I'll be worried, but I'm very confident they aren't going to lose it, that's all. If the series gets to 7 games, I wno't be concerned either. The only time I'd get concerned now is if Detroit drops game 5, but i seriously doubt it.

I remember back in 02' when we won the cup.

--WCF we played Colorado Avs... We were down in the series 3-2, Hasek and the Wings had an awful game 5... It looked as if the Avs were going to dominate us going back to Colorado for game 6. OMG, Hell NO! We came back and defeated the Avs and Patrick Roy 2-0. Then came back to Detroit and Shut out the Avs and Roy 7-0 (I think)... Sending the almighty Patrick Roy off to a night that he'll never forget.

Hasek has a bad game, he'll comes back to have back to back shut outs. That's just the Dominator for ya

GO WINGS IN 6 !!!!!!

This is not the same team at all.

Can they do it, absolutely. Will they bother? We thats been the issue for a few years now.

The Wings, when leading 2-1 in a best of 7 series were (before last night) 12-16 in Game 4's.

Now they are 12-17.

Historically, it played out the way it almost always does with the Wings.

Giguere stopped the puck enough to give his team a chance.

The Wings sucked defesnively - both DMen's and Fwd's play.

DEFENSE wins Championships and when the 'tenders are as even as these two, you can't slip up even a little bit.

I said from Game 1 that this series would go 7 games and it will come down to who makes the least mistakes.

Ducks made most of the mistakes in Game 3. Wings made most of the mistakes in Game4.

GAME 5 LOOMS............

Let's examine the rationale of the quoted statement.

The Wings beat the Ducks 5-0 with Pronger in the lineup.

The Wings lost to the Ducks 3-5 (3-4, really) without Pronger in the lineup.

I don't understand how anyone might feel that the Wings are now 'done,' because Pronger clearly didn't make much of a difference either way.

So does this mean our wins against them count for more because we got them without Schneider and Kronwall?

Psh. Let 'em say what they want. At this point, they should be a lot more worried than Wings fans.

Were we really behind 3-2? lol, I guess my memory's going.

I won't bet against Hasek until he loses a playoff series in a red wings jersey. The wings were sloppy defensively yesterday and that's why they lost. Giguere has been very beatable all series long, and average in all 4 games in my opinion.

I am not trying to sound disrespectful or overconfident, but I just am not concerned anymore. Like I said, before this series started, i was extremely concerned, and after 2 games, still concerned. But after the last two, I'm just not anymore.

People can talk about Pronger coming back giving momentum, but the wings beat the ducks twice with pronger in the lineup so I don't think it'll matter. If anything i think the ducks are more disciplined WITHOUT pronger in the lineup.

Again, I'm just not worried anymore.

Agreed, definitely. Great point about Hasek, too! I kept saying last night during the game that the Ducks sure looked a lot better playing wise than they have been. There really weren't any goons on the ice lasst night. It was good to see.

Pronger is a jerk, always has been, always will be. It will be interesting to see how they paly with him back in their lineup.

In either case, though, I, too, am not concerned anymore. I said from the beginning of this series that it would be Wings in 7, but they may take it in 6. Either way, Wings win!!!!!

I don't like to call out posters here, but you are just ridiculous. This team has shattered the reputation they've had for the past 4 years this postseason, and all you can say is "Will they bother?"

Get over yourself. This team works their ass off night-in and night-out. The Ducks are a great team, and even if the Wings don't move on, it won't be becase they didn't bother.

Get a clue.

Hard to believe it took this long for that point to come up. If there's a Mighties fan anywhere who thinks along the lines of the thread title, they're either a moron or they've got a worse short-term memory than the guy in Memento.

I'm far less worried about the mythical momentum than I am about Pronger "playing well and interacting nicely with others." Despite his well-deserved bad rep, please don't forget that he IS talented, even if he chooses to piss it away with eejit penalties. His talent is exactly why he's paid large, and why the Duck organization chooses to excuse his inexcusables (OTOH, his BadBoy rep is also money at the BO-- Image is everything in SoCal)(lest I offend our lovelier DuckPosters here, I hasten to say that I'm speaking of parasite agents, PR reps, and such other and sundry slime that matter far far more in LaLaLand than in flyover country-- not the fans of the team. The org is trying to promote hockey in a tough, yet potentially lucrative market out there, and Pronger is a desirably marketable commodity).

The prospect of a clean Pronger truly bothers me (and while I refused to let myself think it yesterday, the idea of a Prongerless Duck team bothered me all day: as it turned out, rightly so): now I worry about just how good a (somewhat-- it's too late for 'em to develop a truly good ethic at this point) disciplined Duck team could be WITH Pronger playing clean-- with him focusing on the game instead of dirty hits, as he well may have to, considering he's the proverbial marked man here.

ARGHHH... is it Sunday yet? Sumbuddy pass the valium, please.

im sure we will put Pronger back in...However, I would like Huskins or DiPenta to be replaced by him. Im actually hoping for a game 7 so I can go..but we will see....If DUcks win game 5...I think the Ducks can pull it off..They havent lost 2 games in a row this post season. Pronger needs to step it up!

Anyone would be completely foolish to say that Pronger isn't talented. We all know he is one of the best D-man in the league. We just can't stand him and his dirty, cheap shot plays.

We just can't stand him and his dirty, cheap shot plays.

I know, me either-- along with most NHL fans! But if-- and it's a BIG IF-- he plays semi-clean, as the position he put himself in may well force him to do, and if-- another BIG IF-- he is even ABLE to play semi-clean, we lose PP advantage that's been serving us so well through this series.....

*sigh* Well, no need to borrow trouble, it'll find us if it's meant to, right?

Big deal. So the Wings lost when Pronger was out of the lineup. As I understand it, this was only Game 4. Still not over yet.

I still believe. The Wings have shown me something this year I haven't seen in a long time, and that's the desire to want to win.

Kronwall is far from a top 3 defenseman and Schneider has been replaced on the PP by Samuelsson who generates good scoring chances...

So our depth is not really in question... That would be if we lose Lids or if we had some very poor 6 and 7 defensemen

Schneider is one of the top offensive defensemen i nthe legue and likely will be top ten or twelve in Norris voting this year.

Kronwall is 3rd on the Wings' depth chart.

Samuelsson is somewhere between the 10th and 14th best forward on the team. Unless the Wings are just ridiculously stacked up front, you are either seriously undervaluing Schneider or overvaluing Samuelsson. Because replacing a second-tier Norris contender with a depth forward is not an EVEN SWAP.

For the record, these teams' defenseman (those who have seen ice this series or those who are injured) can be ranked as such:

1. Lidstrom

2. Pronger

3. Niedermayer

4. Schneider (injured, has not played)

5. Kronwall (injured, has not played)

6. Markov

7. Chelios

8. Beauchemin

9. O'Donnell

10. Lebda

11. Lilja

12. Dipenta

13. Quincey

14. Huskins

15. Jackman

Beauchemin needs to be in that 4th slot....jackman to the 12th spot maybe 11th..huskins or joe at 15th
