Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 Not sure if anyone saw this or not, but it's pretty scary if it's true. Drury to San Jose???
Rice 42 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 Not so scary, because they'd most likely trade Marleau in the process.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 San Jose doesn't have the Cap space. I know the Kings suck, but Drury will probably go there as his first choice, since they can afford to shell out big bucks for him.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 They better move Marleau for a defenseman or two then.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 As long as Drury stays in the Eastern Conference I don't care where he goes. San Jose would be the worst case scenario. That team is already lethal, and their one weakness would be filled with a guy like Drury. If he does come to the West, I hope it's with LA, or any team not contending. I still think he ends up back in Buffalo ultimately, and Briere is the one that goes elsewhere.

Marleau, Bell, Guerin and Toskala are all gone, which will surely land them a stud winger, defensemen and picks, leave them enough cap space to sign Drury to a 6.5 mil contract and also resign Smith, Hannan and Rivet. San Jose = Bad mofos in '

San Jose = Bad mofos in '08 Bell is under contract. I don't get the whole Marleau ragging. He has one bad playoffs, and everyone wants him gone. If we were to go by that here with Datsyuk, he would have been gone back after the 2002-2003 season. Before this year, Marleau was great in the playoffs. One bad season shouldn't ruin his stock completely. I expect San Jose to re-sign him.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 Marleau's contract expires after next season. In that case, then it's not an issue. He won't be traded, like many think.

Guest bullocks Report post Posted June 13, 2007 Can't recall where I read it, but the article more or less stated Drury wouldn't mind playing for the Rangers i heard they'll be in on him, the same with gomez....either or. if they don't re-sign nylander...then both. Production Line 1 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 I say with the money we save on letting Lang go, add all the money our classy players are saving us by signing cheaper. And WE should go after Drury...being a c/winger does'nt hurt either...
Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 TSN i don't think marleau and bell are going anywhere. the ladder two are tho... Are you sure about Bell??? Bell is under contract. Told ya so... Mark my words, Marleau is also gone and the Sharks are getting a top name forward or two (Drury???) and a stud defenseman. In addition to the picks they just got... It's scary when I'm right
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 I can completely see this happening. And if/when it does, the Sharks are going to be a tough team to beat. Their biggest problem in the playoffs this past season were leadership, character, and clutch scoring, and Drury brings that in spades. Montreal wants Marleau badly, and Drury wants to play on the West cost badly.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 "Drury is a fine acquisition... who will doubtless fetch $2M per annum more than he will ever deserve. If it weren't for the current zero-sum economics, I would not care if he was overpaid. But my suspicion is that the revenue bottom is going to drop in 2007-2008 and the next cap will shrink rather than swell." From the Hockey Rodent. I think the Rangers Organization feels the same way. So many teams have a rising salary cap tied deeply into their plans, us included. It scares me to think that there may be even less money available.
Production Line 1 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 I still say this does not happen...and why trade away Marleau...
