Brad Stuart is continuing to make more and more sense for the Wings. My first choice would be Souray, but i know he'll be commanding big bucks.

Eklund better be wrong on this one. He doesn't state Detroit in the hunt for Smyth. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=8328

Cool, im feeling a little better about the chance now.

Smyth, Stuart, and Asham....thats what i'll be praying for.

Sheldon is asking same money as Markov got $5.75M (4-5 years)

Pressing is making sense (economical point of view and he's good def) and add Sutton to these 2 - we are going all the way...

Why Asham...I'm not really familiar with him... What appeal does he have, and what role could he play on the Wings?

Because he'll provide toughness, as well as some offense, on a 3rd line. Anaheim has Moen, Ottawa has Neil, now the Wings could have Asham. Guys like this have alot of value. He has decent skills and could flourish here.

Thanks.... I just looked him up on TSN.ca, and it said he can drop the gloves, with some scoring. So lets hope.

Hes not a big guy, but he's without a doubt one of the toughest guys pound for pound around. Wont be fighting the Boogaards or Laraques, but he's capable of venturing up to fight a guy like Cam Janssen or Neil.

Well ESPNews has no plans on covering the free agency stuff. TSN won't let me on since I'm not in Canada. Kinda screwed to just wait on the internet.

I have a really bad feeling that we'll be seeing Mathieu Schneider's name with another team sometime today, probably the Rangers I would guess. If it does happen, we can thank Montreal and Philly for overpaying for average defenseman and pricing Schneider out of Detroit.

If we only get Hasek out of our four UFA's, I'm going to be pissed. One of Bertuzzi and Markov must be resigned.

I'm getting used to the idea of losing Markov and Schneider, but I really thought Bertuzzi would re-up with us. We better keep Bert and Hasek. By the way, does anyone know the fate of Kyle Calder? I know he was on his way out, but then we lost Lang, and will probably lose Schneider and Markov, so is he sticking around?

The live feed mentioned Vancouver would be interested in Calder.

UPDATE: Thornton just re-signed with San Jose, long term contract. 7.2 million per season.
