Flip-check 6 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 Why all the hate? If we actually gave him second line minutes he'd have 20-25 goals ez I know! Some people are posting as if he's giving Detroit the middle finger. If Hudler goes, he goes. And we wouldn't have gotten anything for him... whatever. shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 I want him to stay...he has untapped potential for scoring goals I agree. i will be sad to see him go, if he does go. I think that he is a great player who if given the shot could be a big time star in the NHL. Hope he stays but I will get over it if he does.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 I want him to stay...he has untapped potential for scoring goals Tons of it, but in the end he's not really big enough to get the ice time he deserves on this team. Leaving the NHL would be a stupid move for him though, as he has loads of talent and just needs to convince someone to give him the minutes to put up the points. lfd250 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Yea, biut what are we missing??? No one else has signed him to an offer sheet. So it would lead me to believe most think he's too small or not worth the picks they would have to give up for him.

Zata fan 40 6 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 He was destroying the Czech league like no teenager since Jagr had done so he moved up to the RSL to finish the year out. And his numbers were pretty good for a kid in Russia (on par with Pavel at around 23 years of age). Yes, he did tear up the Czech League and left for the RSL,but only problem was he didn't play there....he left the Czech Republic around mid season and ended up only playing in 11 RSL for Kazan to finish out the year. He ended up with 1 goal and 5 assists which wasn't like Datsyuk who actually played...

Plus I'm sure swapping leagues isn't a seamless transition so he's sure to miss games in the process. Hudler had 6 points in 11 games after putting up 46 in 30 games in the Czech league (he finished 9th in league scoring and everyone in front of him played 20+ more games) at 18/19 years of age. Pavel had 26 in 42. The difference in scoring pace is negligible. But if it makes you feel better the year before Pavel (at 21/22 years of age) had 4 points in 15 games, and Pavel didn't spend the bulk of that season in the Czech leagues... My point was only that he didn't tear up the RSL since he really didn't play there. His numbers in the Czech League is undeniable, but the RSL is a completely different league..and changing leagues as you said in the middle of the season, no less a 19 year old , is not easy to do....I was just stating he didn't really play in Russia that's all. Anyways I hope he is here or I"m going to be real disappointed....

webwing91 4 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I hope he stays, he's been pretty darn good with minimal ice time, he's young and has lots of potential. I'd say he's a great fit in the Wings.
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 lol, me too! Why? So you can have your hopes and dreams dashed again? At least if there isn't a roster spot open you can't be teased with the misguided hope of Kenny actually signing a meathead. A guy who'll net 20-30 goals is far more valuable than a guy who gets in 20-30 fights.
Guest nutz2u Report post Posted July 2, 2007 This kid has the hands and hockey since to be a real sniper given the icetime and a big linemate to create some space for him, (he won't get either with the Wings). I guess you really can't blame him if he does leave.

I've said all along that I don't think Hudler will become a NHL regular and will head back to Europe. Looks like I could be right... your not right .........cause you thought he wasnt gonna be good enough to be an nhl regular and go back to europe ....he is good enough , russians teams are just trying to get him back there by offering him millions of dollars ...... it has nothing to do with hudler's abilities , you might be right about him not playing against the best checking lines or top defensemen but thats not his fault now is it ? You cant take away the fact that hes got talent on the offense , and im sure if you put him with lets say a zetterberg and bertuzzi line he would get his 20 + goals , or even just the 3rd line with more ice time , im sure you just dont like him cause hes small , the guy can still play though Edited July 2, 2007 by kindlwillbegreat

Meaning if he played on the 2nd line (where he should be) he STILL wouldn't be the opposition's top defensive assignment.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 we need him back.. NEED! this team officially sucks without Jiri Hudler.. i'm kinda serious though. He had a good first season. He's got better every year. i'd love to see him play on a line with Dats and Grigs. He'd score 50 goals on that line.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Huds is a highly skilled player. He's got all the right moves, and tricks and can dominate a game given more ice time. The knocks on this guy is getting old. The only reason he isn't wanted by some is due to him being small. WHO THE HELL CARES. If you can play, and make a difference then that's all that should matter. I'm sick of hearing "Oh he's not big enough, we need big bodies bla bla bla." We have other guys that fit that bill. Let Huds do his thing and make a difference for us. He sure has the potential to do so. He needs to stay.
