DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Raycroft had a great season in Boston the year before. Don't forget that our defence is very good. We can make any goalie look good. Plus he would have the OZ pushing him to play his best or he won't play at all.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 No ******* way. I'd rather sign Roman Cechmanek out of the German Leagues then even consider Raycroft. Of course, he is better then Cloutier!

Guest Agalloch Report post Posted July 4, 2007 If we get Raycroft, I'm probably going to be too pissed to even watch a single NHL game this upcoming season. Holland will instantly become one of my worst GMs in pro sports.

Viperar 16 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 im mixed on this. I have a feeling he might be able to make something of himself in detroit. Who knows though. Part of me thinks not.

Its not just a rumor anymore. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/det070704.html http://www.nhlline.ca/ These are trickle-down reports from the original source, the Toronto Star. Thefourthperiod quoted The Star, and nhlline quoted thefourthperiod. Hardly "all over".
Aris 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 If Holland wants a young, awful yet healthy goaltender, why isn't he pursuing Aebischer?

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 (edited) This sounds like a media tactic if you ask me. Wings get it in the press that they are interested in getting Raycroft to show to Dom that they have other options if he keeps holding up contract negotiations. Good move by Holland and co. Put pressure on Dom to sign by showing that its not Hasek or bust here in Detroit. I doubt Detroit really has any serious interest in Raycroft, so you can all relax. Guest jaytan Report post Posted July 4, 2007 OZZIE! Seconded. We don't need Hasek at all next year. It's risky, for one, and we have a suitable starting goaltender on the bench already. Let's use the money to fill actual needs. And Raycroft? Why the hell would we want him?
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 thats sad, dont let the door hit you on the way out I might have overeacted a bit, but still. Raycroft is a joke. He really is. I could not imagine a very bright future for this team contending for the Cup with Raycroft between the pipes. He's that bad.
spydrwebb 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 guys, it IS still a rumor until a deal is signed, which i doubt will happen. i'd be more frightened if kenny didn't have a backup plan. this might not be what people want but it is an alternative. at least he's not just resting on his laurels. I could not imagine a very bright future for this team contending for the Cup with Raycroft between the pipes. He's that bad. nah i understand where you are coming from, but if raycroft is really as TERRIBLE as we make him out to be, why would kenny even be interested. I would think if a simple fan forum can see hes not so good, so would kenny. On the flip side, what does kenny see with raycroft that would benefit the wings. Probably some intangible we dont detect. Let's use the money to fill actual needs. And Raycroft? Why the hell would we want him? And on what player do we use that money on again? Ozzie sucked, he was injured, and he was awesome. He went through three very different phases last year, ended the season on a high note, but still didnt show the consistency or the resiliency to be a starter. I doubt Detroit really has any serious interest in Raycroft, so you can all relax. If I were Hasek, I'd just laugh at the thought of putting out a Raycroft rumor as pressure... that's not really pressure. We've all been on Kenny's ass the past couple days, but I seriously don't think he's lost it--not yet anyway. Edited July 4, 2007 by Flip-check
