eva unit zero,

1. Niedermayer isnt officially retired yet, he could be back.

2. Bertuzzi is head and shoulders above Selanne. I dont know why the posters on this board are all over Selanne. He is such a soft player, and performs below average in the playoffs. He only did something when Lillypads gave him the series on a platter. The debate goes back to the argument of Williams/Calder. Calder is hader to play against, as is Bertuzzi. Sure Selanne is a pretty player but easy to play against.

Detroit fans are clinging to this back injury thing of bertuzzis only because its the only thing they can say to reasure themselves the wings are better off without him. however, we should be the last ones be prejiduce of injuries. EX Maggs, Pudge, McDyess. Afterall, it is not like bertuzzi is injury proned, the back thing was his only real injury.

2. Pronger, Schneider, Beauchamin. is closer to Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall than our forwards are to there offense.

I don't understand why you're making such an effort to convince yourself and everyone else that Anaheim is better than us.

HELL NO! per Detroit fans (by which I assume you mean LGW posters) clinging to any "back injury thing of Bert's" as some kind of panacea to relieve the pain of his loss.

Au contraire, we have been concerned always, have debated endlessly, whether this back injury is permanent, and whether even given this injury, is he worth a s***e (he may still be),...

Servo gave a very good, eye-opening assessment of his (Bert's) type of back injury sometime back. I hated to give it credence (after all, maybe he's NOT a doctor, just plays one on LGW, and of course he's never examined Bert personally), but I found it credible. Unhappily credible, and dampened my lust for Bert as though he'd been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction.

Even before Servo made his OTC prognosis, I had already found Bert's excuse of '"t's not my back, I bruised my tailbone" extremely suspect. I DID try to believe it, but I'm so inured to the spin game, I just nod and smile, or look concerned, whilst quietly thinking... "talibone,...my achin' tailbone."

1. If Niedermayer isn't retiring, Schneider will have less impact for Anaheim than Kronwall will for Detroit.

2. Selanne has outscored Bertuzzi by 50 goals and 130 points in 65 more games the past two seasons. Selanne has cleared 40 goals and 90 points each season, marks Bertuzzi only cleared in his best season, and he is FAR from that player anymore.

3. Lidstrom>Pronger. Rafalski>Schneider. Kronwall=Beauchemin. Zetterberg>McDonald, Datsyuk>Getzlaf, Holmstrom>Bertuzzi. Oh, and Hasek>Giguere. Amazing how much better Anaheim is.

I would agree with all these assessments EXCEPT Kronwall =/= Beauchemin. Beauchemin is a much better player. Then again, having both Pronger and Niedermayer to play with is going to make anybody look good, but Beauchemin was a player on Anaheim before Pronger arrived. Kronwall will have to have a break out year to be as good as Beauchemin.

And still, Kunitz, Penner, and Perry are a lot better than anything else the wings have to offer on the forward lines.

I hate to be Frank, but this is as moronic a comment as it gets, in a moronic post. A 40 goal player in the Defense first Western Conference is NOT an easy player to play against. And you dont even have to look at his 90 points to know that. Being small doesnt automatically mean hes easy to play against. He is an awesome skater with amazing speed, deft hands, and creative skill. Selanne >>>> Bertuzzi and there isnt even question.

Aaron Asham, thats it he's the man we need. Would fit in the 3rd line f"ing like a glove and roll heads along the way. I am telling you this kid is the missing link we need. Forget Yashin, he's garbage and no I am not waiting to next year when the UFA crop is fresh that is probably the worst mindset for a profesional sports team i have ever heard. Aaron Asham Kenny, pull the trigger PLEASE!

...anyone have an opinion on Mike Johnson? How is he compared to Dallas Drake? Should Holland be calling him?

Johnson has been a top 6 winger before, but only for bad teams. Still, he wouldn't be a bad fit for the Wings. He could come cheaply, and is well liked in the locker room.

In order to stick with Anaheim in the playoffs we are going to need to be able to score more goals. They already have better goaltending, they can match us on defense, and whats more, offense is arguably their strength.

But they won the Cup this year and we didn't,we are way more hungrier than they are.

And what a huge advantage that will be in a tight playoff-series...

Sign Yashin to a one year deal for 3M.

There would be enough money left at the deadline to trade for an impact player.

So basically we should sign Yashin, though he isn't an impact player?

But it the end Anaheim went home with the cup, so these comparisons are useless...

I agree that we need to add one UFA forward before the season starts. The problem with leaving the $5+ million for the deadline is the catch-22 that would result. Sure, we could probably afford (cash-wise) 2 major stars and even possibly a role guy at the deadline, but it would cost the farm in picks and prospects, and it would completely jeopardize our future.

So, if Kenny wants to ink Foresberg, I'm starting to warm up to that idea. Selanne would be fine as well. Sign someone like Foresberg (ACK, I hate saying that) or Selanne, and add one major offensive star at the deadline, so we don't sell the farm, and we should be in great shape come April 08.

Well thankfully it appears that "The Big E", isn't going to be the answer for another forward. Even though some claim he would be due to his friendship with The Captain.

TSN-

Eric Lindros is so concentrated on his work with the NHL Players' Association these days that his actual NHL playing career has been put on hold.

As in, will he play again next season?

"Right now my focus is the 'PA work," Lindros told The Canadian Press on Wednesday. "I'm not really concerned about the rest of it. But the last couple of years have been pretty frustrating in terms of not getting through without being injury-free. . It's just frustrating."

"I've got an idea of what I'm going to do and I've had that idea ever since the last game of the playoffs," Lindros said. "But right now is about focusing on the 'PA."
