I can understand why people want to watch the Penguins cuz of their young and exciting squad but...I just can't seem to find any attachment to the players - sure Crosby is great but I just can't seem to get very enthusiastic about the overall performance of the team.

Personally I enjoy watching the Rangers cuz of Lundqvist mainly (not cuz he's Swedish but bcuz he was the goalie for the Frölunda Indians my favourite team in the SEL). I also love to watch Ovechkin - keep in mind that the Caps suck and I don't particularly enjoy any of the other players on there with the exception of maybe Semin. Weird how that goes. I also love the Leafs and I always want them to do good but they never seem to make the right moves.

Usually tho I end up picking my "faves" to end up in the Finals and try to cheer for them...Looking at squads and attitudes and finding the most fun teams to watch once the Stanley Cup finals come around.

Mind as well jump on the Pens bandwagon while there is still time. They will be a beast for years to come.

Ahahaha- the time passed the day after they signed Sidney up.

All the sudden half the guys on campus were hardcore Pens fans.

Pickles?

I'm so jealous of anyone with Centre Ice. I had the week-long preview last year and took full advantage.... But it's just too expensive for me to justify.

I already pay an extra ten bucks or so a month on my satellite bill just to get Versus (and maybe one other channel I ever watch), but I can't afford the whole package. :(

Silly. It's $10 extra a month to get Versus--on which you get what? Like 5 Wings games? Drop back down to the lower tier and you'll save yourself $120 (or like $100 if you just have it for hockey season). I think it's $130 or so for the Early Bird special on Center Ice or $160 overall. Not too much of a price difference.

Then, eat out maybe six times less over the course of the year, and viola, you've saved enough to justify upgrading to Versus again for the playoffs and paid for the difference b/w Center Ice and having Versus.

Edit: I should've read down about 2 posts before responding.

You live in Denver? Why not go and check out some Denver Pioneers college hockey games? They're usually very good, and college hockey is really fun to watch (even though the talent level's not the same, the atmosphere can be superior to the NHL).

Plus, you'll get to watch a lot of NHL prospects. The NHL drafts players while they're still in the NCAA, and many of them go a full four years before leaving the try to make the pros.

And this way, you won't have to be a traitor. :D

I live in CO as well, maybe watch Colorado College. Usually a solid team

Rarely televised.... as far as I've seen.

Get the center ice package watch them all and see who grows on you...

Do you get cbc chanel 9 in canada? Hockey night in canada, has allways been a great tradition.

I like this idea. And yes CBC comes in on Center Ice.

Well, speaking for myself I have been an avid follower of the Lightning because the players' hearts are always into every game, night in and night out. The teams I watch require deep passion and the Wings and Lightning have it.

Other mentionables: Senators, Leafs

I agree. If i had to pick another team it would be the bolts.

Does anyone know where i can get an organized look at team rosters... preferrebly by position?

So the vibe I am getting is.... the bolts, penguins, capitals, leafs, and ragers are all great teams to watch?

Penguins are my Eastern Conf. team. After them comes the Sens.

Of course my #1 by far is the Wings, but after them - i like to see my hometown Oilers win, they've always been an exciting team to watch too.

If the Rangers are not playing I like to root for the Panthers. I root for them for 2 reasons.

I mean does anyone here know anyone who absolutly hates the Panthers?

Deer, hogs, raccoons... so just about anyone who's wild over Minnesota. They claim to hate 'em with an undying passion, but no one really believes that! Minn hates Nash too, don't know why.... it's not like they've ever taken a swipe at them or anything..

:punch: You can tell the summer season is getting boring when you resort to bad puns! But you actually only need one reason to root for the Panthers, which works for the Blueshirts too: Beezer.

I live in new jersey and i get center ice for the wings games, but when they're not playing i watch the local teams (Rangers, Devils, Islanders) on the local channels in HD. If center ice had HD channels i'd probably be watching Atlanta or Washington a lot, but i just can't turn away from HD and from the 3 i think i like the Islanders the most. They have great history and a nice fan base. I don't like the Rangers too much because of their fans, they are very quick to turn on their team. Most of my friends are Rangers fans and they're so high on them at the beginning of every season and then later on all they do is talk s*** about Jagr and how terrible he is. A lot of them are not very knowledgeable.
