WingsFan19 5 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 I know its from Eklund but I was wondering what all of your thoughts are? Who do you think might be involved? "The Bruins are still the team that is working hardest to make a "major trade prior to Sept 1." Atlanta and Detroit are two teams that are involved in those talks..." GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 If I had to guess, I would presume that Glen Murray would be one of the names being tossed around. Murray is really the only guy from Boston, that I can think of, that would make any sense. Murray's name always comes up on the trading block, and the Red Wings may have some interest there. theman19 47 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 murray or ward are the only names that make sense. Murray makes a crap ton of money though. It would be nice to see a guy of his skill level playing on the Right side of either Dats or Z.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Murray and Ward are the only two that fit.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Maybe add PJ Axelsson to the list To be honest I doubt Holland has any interest in these guys...Now to throw out a name that could be had - that is if ya listen to Eklund - would be Alex Kovalev. I don't see how Ward wouldn't fit. He makes 2.75 million, which is a little over what Markov made last season. Markov wants more money now, in the 3.5-4 million, but I'd rather have Ward, who is more physical and is an expert at shot-blocking. Not to mention he's far less injury prone. I'm not a big Glen Murray fan, but he is still a top 6 forward, and he'd at least give us something decent on the 2nd line. Right now, our 2nd line consists of Franzen-Hudler-Samulesson, which is very weak. Murray would give us some scoring depth, so we could move Franzen off the 2nd line (because he is not a top 6 forward by any stretch of the imagination). Axelsson is a defensive forward, and doesn't suit any of the Wings needs right now, so I doubt they'd really be after him. I don't know where you get Kovalev from as a potential pickup, but I'd be very shocked (and angry) if that happened. Kovalev is the ulimate definition of an "I" player. We don't need him. (if we did have Kovalev though, it'd give Grapes more a reason to hate us )
Henkka 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Maybe trade Huds for Murray and someting more? To add size and one right handness more. When the contract ends, give that Murray 4 million to Zetterberg's extension. Homer - Dats - Murray Franzen - Zeta - Samuelsson Filppula - Drape - Cleary Drake - Kopecky - Maltby (Grigorenko)

(thats obtainable anyway) Not a fan of Murray either, and I don't see the Wings over paying to get him anyway. Sorry to those of you who'd like to offer either Hudler, Maltby, or Lilja that's just not going to get it done. I wouldn't worry to much about the second line, Z and Dats will be split and I think Grigs is going to make an impact. Maybe not on the second line (i think he will) but maybe on like the third or something and open up the possiblity of Flip playing up with Datsyuk (those guys have great chemistry). As far as Kovalev, there was a minor amount of speculation of him coming here before Montreal. Maybe your right about him, but he'd be a far superior pick up to Murray. Nice job Mr. Informed "Anybody who puts Sammy and Franzen up front when we have Filppula and Grigorenko is a moron" That is what you said, to which I replied "well that's the way Babcock already said it's going to be" Babcock said (there were a ton of articles about it a couple weeks ago), something along the lines of this Zetterberg - Samuelsson - Franzen/Hudler Datsyuk - Holmstrom - Franzen/Hudler Cleary Filppula Draper Maltby Kopecky Drake Grigorenko He said Z is with Sammy, Datsyuk is with Homer, 3rd line and 4th line are set (for now), Franzen/Hudler are the rotating wingers, he didn't mention Grigorenko because he's never seen him play. I lost an argument? There is no argument, this is me telling you what has already happened, so please, shut up you moron
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted September 16, 2007 I know alot of wings fans are having the run of the mill pre-season panic attack, but i'm rather content with our squad, and i'd rather not lose anything to boston. All of our older players are essentials, and all of our young guys aren't worth losing.
