Yes, Lang was bashed, but Fedorov and Datsyuk were never bashed.

Don't forget Shanny, the guy that used to wear #19, Bertuzzi, Williams, Osgood, etc. All these Canadians were bashed by Wings fans.

Dastyuk was bashed even two seasons ago for sucking at the playoffs. entire threads discussed his non performance . other threads were used to bash his contract negotiations....and Fedorov was bashed for everything except global warming way back when he almost signed with the Canes.

now, anybody here in the forum please raise your hands and admit you ever bashed Yzerman. let me see a show of hands

Exactly Fedorov held out for almost the entire season and Datsyuk was asking for more money than he deserved without proving himself. Of course fans aren't going to like those things.

Give the guy a break, Hes still trying to adjust, not only to North American hockey but to everything here. Keep in mind he is a long long ways from home, he and his family haven't been here long and all they flew miles and miles over the ocean to the U.S. a strange place for them, he can't speak english very well to make things worse.

The guy has to be tired from the trip and the stress of moving, He will impress all of you before its all said and done. The guy has talent or we wouldn't have ask him to come all this way. Just imagine what it would be like if you had to pack up your family at 24 years old and fly to Russia, where you can't understand anybody for the most part and on top of that start training camp for NHL and battle not only all the other prospects that want to play in the NHL but impress all the "fans" at the same time.

just a thought, Igor might not like this type of hockey and may return home but I feel he will stay and suprise all of you before the season is done. time will tell.

give the guy a break, how did I know this would happen.

Grigorenko needs to earn it just like every other hockey player. No free rides.

Don't forget- a few negative comments from some posters is a far cry from all of us being negative.

I'm impressed he had 2ppg in the first two games he played in NA.

Lilja sucks.

here we go again another season with captain negative. Lilja was the whipping boy all last season until he started to play physical in the playoffs then everyone was all over him like he was a god, pain train bandwagon I like to call it, then the guy makes a mistake that cost us the entire playoffs and its back to Lilja sucks.

Hank what player(s) are you going to bash all season this year? Lilja is young and as he gains more experience will make less mistakes but no doubt about it we need his size and physical pressense because we don't have to many guys like that on our roster.

I ask for everyone to give Igor a break now I ask for you Hank to give Lilja a break the season hasn't even started yet, he could have improved 110% this off season. I respect your opinions as a hockey fan but try not to be so negative man.

and Drake_marcus I know everyone doesen't feel that way about Igor but their were many in this thread that were. no worries man. take it easy

I bash him for global warming all the time. That guy drives way too many cars, and I'm pretty sure none of them are hybrids. His carbon footprint has got to be massive.

As far as Yzerman, I remember plenty of idiots bashing him for being a choker until we got a Cup.

Lilja is not young. Lilja is 32 years old. Lilja is still making rookie mistakes that our ROOKIES AREN'T MAKING. The guy had a good stretch at the end of the season, but his chances of improving dramatically beyond last season's performance are slim and none, and slim is about to leave town. Realistically, he probably shouldn't even be on the team, except that he provides a bit of size and grit in a 6th/7th defenseman role so we don't have to waste Quincey there. I wouldn't be shocked to see him behind Meech on the depth chart at the end of the year.

Good. :D I just don't like being lumped in with the people that disrespect Russian hockey. As a Canadian who's seen lots of international hockey I have a great deal of respect for Russian players.

All this talk of Igor "sucking" made me want to post what I found on the Forecaster.ca website:

http://www.forecaster.ca/detnews/hockey/ex...gi?fantasy-spin

Sleeping Giant

Igor Grigorenko, RW, Detroit Red Wings

Keep an eye on Russian rookie winger Grigorenko (pictured top) at Red Wings camp. There is currently an opening on one of Detroit's scoring lines due to the departure of Todd Bertuzzi, Robert Lang and Kyle Calder in the off-season. The 24-year-old Grigorenko is coming off a 14-goal, 27-point performance with Lada Togliatti of the Russian Superleague. He produced 33 points with Severstal Cherepovets (RSL) in 2005-06. He was a top NHL prospect a few years ago but was slightly derailed by a serious auto accident. Now, he may finally be ready to produce at the NHL level. He'll likely compete with the likes of Johan Franzen, Kris Draper, Jiri Hudler and Dan Cleary for a prominent scoring role this season. Bet on Grigorenko to make an impact this year.

Them's my two cents

meanwhile Maltby and Draper (i like them both) can do no wrong

Maltby hasn't been held in high regard around here since the lockout ended.

I half expected Grigorenko to maybe have a little excess fat on him. It seems odd that he would weigh 200+ lbs when he's only listed at 5'10".

I also think that the kind of off-season training required to maintain an NHL position is going to be a bit of a surprise to him. He kind of coasted along in the Russian leagues of late, going just on talent. But with the talent at this level, he is going to need to learn how to put forth the extra effort to be able to perform.

Its kind of like starting a new job. You have to learn what is expected of you. You don't automatically know before that first day- or even the first week.

Exactly. That #19 guy was constantly bashed before the team won the cup. He was almost traded to Ottawa. Even in the end of his career he was bashed for being too old, too slow, and overpaid. I seem to remember an ESPN article that bashed Yzerman during the WCF this past spring. The writer claimed that the team was better without him and that the team once again couldn't win with him on it.

My point is it doesn't matter what nationality a player is or what there name is. If a player isn't playing good enough or is holding back the team or has a bad attitude they are going to get bashed.
