GRAND RAPIDS -- The Red Wings almost made it back home completely healthy.

Defenseman Brian Rafalski came down with a hip flexor toward the end of Wednesday's public practice at Van Andel Arena and skated off the ice before the completion of practice.

Rafalski said the injury is day-to-day. He doesn't know if he'll be able to make his Joe Louis Arena debut Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.

Coach Mike Babcock had scheduled to have Rafalski paired with Nicklas Lidstrom.

It's all good guys. Thankfully he's only listed as day-to-day. He should be back in no time. And probably well before the season opener.

How the hell do you "come down with a hip flexor"? Was he born without his hip flexors and just couldn't bend at the waist until now? I stretch my hip flexors before deadlifts each week, so I guess I came down with them years ago...

I think they meant he went down with a hip flexor injury. Thanks for the laugh, graphic and confirmation of my opinions.

Hopefully he'll soon come up with a hip flexor, if that's the opposite of coming down with one.

That's what I figured too I just though it was humorous that they basically said "Yzerman came down with a knee at practice today."

I got a chance to shake hands with Rafalski during the autograph session at Van Andel and ask him if he was ok. He was walking around fine after the game and said he was feeling good. He just left the ice as a precaution. I think it is just a DTD thing.

I interviewed him today. Well kinda. I shot the interview. Seems to me like not a lot of the wings actually wanted to be in Grand Rapids. They all put on their happy faces but you could tell they just wanted to get out of there. I also got to shoot interviews with Chelios, Hudler, Filppula, Ellis, Draper, and Kenny.

Yeah, why can't he throw his body around like Lebda?

Like, remember that one great hit where Lebda drifted into Langkow, bent way over, and they fell over each other? It was pretty good, considering Langkow is HUGE (5' 10", 179 lb.).
