"Good practice, kids. Now its time for the easiest part of any coach's job.

The cuts. Although I wasn't able to cut everyone I wanted to, I have cut a

lot of you."

So who's left to fight it out for the final roster spots? Quincey, Downey, Ericsson, Grigrenko, Ryno, Ritolla, meech, am I missing anyone?

Really surprised to see Sopel not released after the way he has played...

Hartigan and Ryno

I think they know Kindl is going to be playing in GR this year, he is our top four of the future. Might as well let some of the guys play who are actually trying to make the roster this year.

i guess i agree. Last year he played a lot, but we had a definite top 7 there and didn't have the kind of fight between Sopel, Meech, Cullimore, etc that we have this year.

i'm backing GR for the Calder cup this year anyway on the strength of their defense and goaltending..

they don't have the offense of the Hudler, Flipulla, Kopecky years but the defense is much much better..

Like what we have left. I hope that Meech makes it in as #7. It is almost a given that Quincey and Ericsson are on their way down since they are both able to go through to GR without waivers so it is really between Meech and Sopel. I like what Sopel could bring to the powerplay but I would rather have Lilja as our d-man with kronner and have

Lids-Raffi

Kronner-Lilja

Cheli-Lebda

then having it be Kronner-Sopel

Plus we can put Sammy on the point on the PP again like last year when Schneider was out. I was pleasently surprised with how well he did back there.

FOr Forwards I would like to see Grigorenko, Ryno, and all the other young ones pla in GR over being on the bench as the 13th forward. Unless they force Kopecky into the 13th forward role the kids need to be playing. That being said I am pulling for Downey or Ellis as the 13th forward, and I hope to see Grigorenko up at some point this year once he better adjusts.

No sure why but I'd like to see the sign Vicari for the ECHL or something. All reports seemed to indicate he had a good camp and you can never have too much depth at goaltender.

I remember him from MSU and he really isn't that good of a goalie, he's average dosn't really make any glairing mistake, but never did anything spectacular and got his nose out of joint when he was beat out by a freashman by the name of Jeff Lerg.

Vicari was better than average if even if he wasn't spectacular night in and night out. There was more to him leaving MSU than just Lerg beating him out. There was some friction between him and Coach Comley although I can't remember what it was anymore.

It doesn't change the fact that by all reports he had a good camp average or not, and somebody has to play in the minors. You never know who could be a diamond in the rough.

I do not really for see Downey being around come the regular season as much as I would like him on the team. I also don't see why Grigs is still in consideration for the slot at forward, he has not looked good at all in any of the preseason games. I honestly wouldnt be supprised to see him get the nod, even though I think he would learn more as a Griffin this year learning the North American style of game.
