Colorado has a great mix of proven veterans and promising young players. Paul Stastny is off to a remarkable start, not to mention they have Sakic, Smyth, Hejduk, Brunette, and Wolski up front as well. Not many teams can put up two scoring lines with as much talent as Colorado.

If they can keep Leopold and the rest of the defense healthy, there is no reason the Avs shouldn't make the playoffs. They are fully capable of winning the Northwest Division, and returning to elite status in the West.

Just imagine if Bertuzzi had re-signed with the Red Wings. Maybe, just maybe, the rivarly would have made a comeback.

I for one hope the 'Lanche do return to top form - whether by Sakic, Stastny, Budaj, or a combination of anyone. I rather enjoyed the Wings/Avs rivalry and prefer it to the current Nashville one. For starters, Nashville hasn't really tested the Wings in the postseason yet - either team has gotten rolled by some hot goalie before the matchup could happen. A nice...Coloroit?...Detrorado? meeting could be intriguing come the playoffs this year.

The biggest question for Colorado this year is whether or not their great offense can compensate for an average-to-above average defense and very average goaltending.

as good as their offense is already, can u imagine if foresberg does come back to their team at some point during the season? that would really make them an offensive force. i think it would be funny if they signed foresberg at the deadline and we got sergei at the deadline as well. it would be very ironic

I just have no confidene in Budaj. I just don't, and Jose isn't exactly cuttin the dijon either.

yes u highlighted their main concern .. unless they can pump out good amounts of offense on a reg. basis (Like ARice pointed out) if Budaj does not get any better which iam sure he will but to what extent...

They've already been shut out by Nashville. No team can score 4-5 goals a game. They're gonna have a hard time with teams like the Wings.

6-1 Avs- and the Stanstny kid has a goal and 4 helpers! Crazy good game for him!

Scary

I can't even begin to tell you how horrible the Sharks played tonight. Flat. All around flat. Usually I could blame it on Nabby letting in a goal or two he shouldn't have, but not tonight. Tonight we just didn't show up. Period. No shots, tons of turnovers, horrible passes... and every announcer I've seen can't stop talking about the Sharks being "contenders" or "the biggest team", but I know better. Good old Sharks.

It was a bad weekend for the West period.

Not happening.

Sorry, Avs.
