although I'd rather see Downey play than Ellis against Anaheim, strictly because of the physical aspect, it's absurd to say he's a better player, Ellis is faster and provides more intangibles, including a defensive lock, he's pretty much as solid of a defensive forward as they get... Downey did look solid tonight though, even without throwing the mitts.

I honestly thought the Drake-Ellis-Downey line played pretty solid last night. They only played half a dozen shifts but always created something in the Kings zone when they were out there. As a 4th line, thats exactly what the coach wants of you; create chances, forecheck, try to draw a penalty, & get the opposition off their game. Babcock can't be disappointed in what he saw last night from them.

I liked what he had to say in between periods, and I liked what I saw from him during the game. If it were up to me, when Sammy comes back, I would trade him (yes, trade sammy) and get somebody with some more grit and heart. Then, I would also leave Downy in the lineup. How many times a night do we hear that "Samuelsson couldn't handle it" or "Samuelsson just couldn't get there" or "Samuelsson bumped off the puck" ...constantly.

Do Datsyuk or Zetterberg score on every shot? Do they play perfect, flawless, error free games every night? No neither does Lids, these guys are elite players in the league, Samuelsson is a role player. One who plays very well. He may not be the second coming of Jari Kurri but he plays his role very well and does what the team needs of him.

But then again I guess in 1 game (3:41 BTW) Downey was a beast out there and Sammy should be sent packing.

OK, my post and opinion on Samuelsson is not based on 1 game. I have never liked Samuelsson, ever. He has never showed me anything special. All I really see from him is occasionally being in the right place at the right time, and having a pretty good shot. Other than that, I see him as the second coming of Robert Lang if anything...lazy, soft, and giving the puck away on a regular basis. My opinion is not that if a guy has a bad night trade him, or if a new guy has a good night trade a guy that had a bad night. Rather, it is to trade a guy that I see as a constant let down that in my opinion shows no real killer instinct to win anything other than maybe the lady bing (sp?)

If you love Sammy great you can love whatever players you want to and for your own reasons. But understand why I don't like him instead of generalizing what I said into something that you think
