NHL Scoresheet has Hank down for 2 goals now...?

Ellis' +5 is weird. I've noticed it sometimes happens for Filppula too, it's like some kind of compilation of others who were a +. Hard to explain, anyway he shold be even.

holmstroms goal got changed to zetterbergs (hit him on the way in)

According to Bruce MacLeod at Red Wings Central, Grigs is heading back to Russia.

Doesn't surprise me. It's a shame he didn't try harder.

BTW, shouldn't that be Red Wings Corner. I've been keeping with his blog with Google Reader so I was surprised to see the re-design tonight. I liked the old design of his blog better.

Holmstrom's goal got changed to Zetterberg's as it hit Z going in...although i didn't see this i'd have to watch the replay again.

That could be the case, or maybe it could be Z getting robbed so much by these disallowed goals (again tonight), so they just decided to give him an extra gift ;)

On that topic of Holmstrom getting an interference call again...i dont think it was so much of him bumping the goalie, as it was of the goalie trying to come out and bumping into him...although i'm not sure what the clear cut rule is.

Ah, the ref's stole Z's hat trick with Homer's interference call then

you are correct sir..usually i wouldnt care, but it was Z that scored

since im sure we want him to win the scoring race, this bs cannot be happening every other game

I was at the game tonight, and it was awesome. By far, the best performance of the season by our Red Wings. Just a couple things that I thought stood out for me:

- There were bunches of empty seats again, but the crowd was anything but quiet. I know the Joe can sound like a cemetary on TV, but that place was loud in person tonight. Between the Downey fight, a fight in the crowd, and the disallowed goal against Homer, there was plenty of noise. Granted there was plenty to cheer about, but I was pleasantly surprised with the energy level at JLA. I don't care what people say about the empty seats, there are plenty of passionate fans that will show up and support the Red Wings.

- I hate to state the obvious, but this crap with Homer has got to stop. There was no contact made at all with the goalie. If they are going to call Homer that tight, I want it called every time an opponent does the same to Dom and Ozzie. All this is right now is a reputation penalty sting, and it's beyond frustrating at this point.

- The Red Wings passing and puck movement tonight was flawless. The way the defense can pass the puck and then jump into the offensive rush is pretty special. It's going to be tough for opponents to beat a team as talented as the Red Wings, when the Wings possess the puck for the majority of the game. Special props to the Draper/Maltby/Cleary line for their fantastic effort.

Just got back home from the 2+ hour drive from JLA. I agree that we all seemed to be having a lot of fun in their tonight! It's a real hoot watching us chase goalies off the ice there! I loved the way that the crowd reacted after the call on Homer. I really hope that the level of displeasure we were expressing was coming through in people's living rooms.

That booing was probably the loudest I've heard the Joe this season so far, and I've watched every game this year so far except for Phoenix (road game anyway) and Edmonton. In fact I'd say that tonight's game was the best overall I've heard from the crowd this season. Particularly pleased by the OZZIE chant.

Anyone see that fight in the stands tonight. I heard there was a dude that goe bloodied up pretty good. Heard the story from a buddy...anyone actually see it?

Wouldnt surpise me. I was just at the Wings/Canucks game on wednesday. And about 30 feet to my right, there was a pretty quick fight. I believe both guys were ejected. And one guy had beer ALL over his shirt. I guess this rough sport can bring angry emotions out of people.

Ellis was a +5 ..WTF!!

Ellis wasn't +5. All the NHL scoreboards were messed up after the game, but they're correct now. Ellis was even. They had players on both teams totally messed up in the +/- columns for some reason. They had a guy on the Sharks at -5 which was also wrong.

I was at the game, but I walked to the concessions and heard about it when I got back. From what I heard, it was a bloody one, with people leaving the arena with towels on their heads. The entire section was standing up while they cleaned up the mess. "Oh, the good ol' hockey game, is the best game you can name, and the...." :)

We had a blast last night. The crowd really was loud and into it. Highlights for me:

-Datsyuk's feed to Zetterberg. I mean, wow. Our entire section was going nuts, even when they'd show the replays on the big screen.

-The Downey fight. This was not only fun for the fans, but it was both smart and shrewd on Downey's part. One guy on hockeyfights.com made a couple of great points about this, which I'll plagiarize. For one thing, Downey waited until he drew the extra 2 minutes from Davison (which I thought should have been an instigator, but they called it roughing), so it resulted in a power play for the Wings. For another, knowing that fighters have to walk on eggshells with the Wings front office, he has to pick his battles and not just fight for the sake of fighting, which can interrupt the rolling of 4 lines, etc. Just really smart on Downey's part. The loudest the crowd got all night was for the fight, of course.

Osgood looked very, very solid. Shame about the bogus penalty on Homer, or I think this game would have resulted in a SO for Ozzie. The crowd showed their appreciation, which I thought was a nice touch.

Why exactly is the league cracking down on Homer, anyway? They want to increase scoring, but they pick on one of the guys who does the extremely difficult things that a team needs to do to score goals in the modern NHL? I don't get it.

Oh, and one other thing: The Wings look like a great team, even without all their pieces healthy. If they stay healthy, this could be a very good year. Even accounting for the Sharks having to deal with the west coast-east coast travel (which is no small thing), this was a dominating performance by Detroit.

Hey guys, missed he game last night but glad to hear all the great things and sound like it was a good game for the wings. finally good to see flip break out and get a goal and a helper.

I think best of all, this game shows what can happen when the Wings have a second-line scoring and playmaking threat. That was Filppula last night. Take away his contributions in the early going, and we're talking about a game where it seemed like the Wings probably outplayed them, but nobody could finish the job until Zetterberg and Datsyuk came to the rescue once again. Instead we're talking about a dominating performance against one of the conference's better teams. That second-line scoring threat, if we see it consistently, will take the Wings back to elite status.

Right on, i was thinking the same thing about how Downey has to be smart with when he fights because of the front office. That worked out perfectly, got the fight and drew the PP. Although, we both know if he hadnt actually fought Davison the general reaction wouldve been that he wussed out.

I enjoyed the game, having Downey in the lineup makes a big difference for me.

It would have, I'm sure. It would've been only an 11 shot SO but whatever, you take those like garbage goals any way you get em.

Anybody have a DVR or link to a clip of the excellent Datsyukian deke? It wasn't great, but it was still just funny to see.

Nice viewpoint of Grier killing his team mate, and the Wings embarrassing the Sharks, with Thornton embarrassing himself, primarily.

edit: I can't get the link to work. Go to www.tsn.ca and check the video highlight under the Wings game report.
