Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Raycroft is playing. I'm not sure if he started the game or not though. Toskala might have been pulled. Of course, Raycroft is no stranger to giving up 7+ goals a game. He's a terrible goaltender, and I can't believe JFJ was so stupid as to trade a future Vezina winner in Tukka Rask for him. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Toskala was brutal tonight, Raycroft has played good, 2 goals went in off of deflections from his own defenceman, and one was just a move no goalie would stop. This is just embarrasing, when if JFJ gonna get off his ass, and pick up some defenceman. Kubina is a joke, Wosnezki takes alot penalty, and I havent been that impressed with Stralman. I have always had a soft spot for the Leafs, except for when we're playing them , But this brutal. Antropov is back to enemy number 1 in Leaf Nation, he's had about 6 turnovers tonight and has played bad. They NEED McCabe, Tucker, Wellwood and Coliacovo, until they get them back, this is going to be a daily thing (Getting blown out that is)

They need McCabe like I need a kick in the groin. Bryan McCabe is not going to fix this team. Neither is Tucker, he's been useless since he signed his extension. Wellwood is a meh, he'll add some decent secondary scoring. Colaiacovo will never be healthy so he's a moot point. Stralman will be good in time, but he's still very much in the adjustment period. You can see flashes of what they say he can be, but that will come with time. To expect this 21-year old kid to come in and prop up this defence is asinine. The problem is that the top-4 defencemen are either 100% offensively minded or ungodly slow or both in the case of McCabe. The last thing the team needs is John Ferguson to make a move because his record in trades speaks for itself. He gets his ass handed to him. They need Ferguson to be fired and they need to start fresh. In order for that to happen, they need to lose more games like this one. So be it.
StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Any other team would've done the right thing and burned that roster to the ground years ago...too bad no one in the Toronto organization cares about winning.

I'm kinda tired of seeing that team sabotaged by their own management's piss poor decision making, and I'm not even a leafs fan! And hell yeah about the top four issue. Why doesn't the Toronto management take a look at the goals for/against differential. Sure they score in bunches, but they let s***-loads of goals in. Then they crucify whatever goalie is nearby and say he sucks. It's more a case of that goalie being forced to constantly make up for the glaring defensive errors of the guys in front of him. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 When are they going to learn its time to CLEAN HOUSE. The team they assembled is virtually the same failure of a team they iced last year. There is no hope for this team until Fergie Jr. is gone..among others. But hey, I am not complaining - I like seeing the Leafs suffer.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 A friend of mine who's a Leafs fan went to that game. I talked to him yesterday and said to him, "Oh well, atleast you saw Ovechkin score 2 goals". I also asked him if he stayed the entire game, and made comments on how badly the Leafs were blown out. I've stayed quiet the last few years when it comes to the Leafs, but not this year. I have another friend, the last few years he always betting me the Leafs will make the playoffs. This year he's saying the same kind of things and will probably bet me money again in March that they'll make it. The last few years I've stayed quiet, but so far I've gone all out telling him how bad the team is. I don't say much because I know what goes around comes around, but the Leafs are bad, and looking at their organization and the moves JFJ have made, will only get worse. Mostly I think I've tired of talking about the Leafs considering there's so many other good teams and stars in the NHL.
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 I've never been a Leafs fan, but I feel bad for this organization. They are supposed to be one of the great-franchises in the league and this whole concept is embarrasing. And should the fans be blamed? Like many people, they just want to watch hockey, but they sell-out the arena every damn night for a s*** product. JFjr. Shoulda been gone for some time now, but nothing has happened, so the fans have to send a f*cking message if they actually want a winning team.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) I've never been a Leafs fan, but I feel bad for this organization. The problem is, it isn't fans in most of the seats. It's suits who didn't pay for the tickets or if they did, it's a big, fat tax write-off. Even if there are real fans in the platinums or golds, they got them for free from connections. The problem is that Toronto is such a yuppie town and the Leafs game is "the place to be", so even if they don't give two sh*ts about hockey, they go to be seen there. However, there's a bit of a turn going on. I went to the Atlanta game last week and I was at the Washington blowout, and I'd estimate that there were at least 1.500 seats in the lower bowl (mostly in the golds and reds) that stayed empty for the entire game. (No, I did not pay for tickets for either game) You never used to see that. The seats are sold because 90% are part of a tax write-off. The entire arena could be empty for a game but the seats would be sold. The other 10% are family seats which will never be given up because they've been in the family since 1931 and if they give them up, they'll never get them back. Doggy 130 Report post Posted November 1, 2007 Can anyone explain to me why the Leafs have been so pathetic at home so far this year? I haven't looked at their record but I'm sure this is like the thrid or fourth bad loss so far at the ACC. Funnily enough, on the road they seem pretty competitive. Like a playoff team.
