MiHockeyGuy30 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 I think it would be really nice if we all banded together and started a write in campaign for Ozzy! He has been playing amazing this season, and he has really given his heart and soul to this organization. I think as fans we have never really appreciated him enough, so now is the time to let Osgood know how much he has meant to us the 11 seasons he has been in Detroit! Was does everyone else think about this?
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Luongo Kipper Leclaire Backstrom There's 4 guys that probably deserve to be there as much or more than Osgood. I love Ozzy as much as the next person, but this would be a tough sell.

He has a 3.14 GAA and a .884% In the West Ozzy ranks #1 in Wins, 3rd in Sav. %, & 3rd in GAA (Also 3rd in NHL).

I'd love to see Ozzy at the All-Star game. But I really can't see it happening. Edited November 9, 2007 by rick zombo
MiHockeyGuy30 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Well loook how close Fitzpatrick came to winning over Lidstrom last year. I think if we everyone to keep putting Ozzy in for a Write In on the ballot I think he would have a very good chance. Backstrom and Leclarie are both playing well, and I just looked at Luongo's stats, he has a 2.87 and a .904, average at best.
lfd250 1 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 you're basing luongo on last year, I'm sort of a what have you done for me latly. Luongo: 26th GAA 22nd Sav % 16th Wins Osgood (as a backup) 3rd GAA 7th Sav % 2nd Wins Granted if Osgood played every day his numbers probably be lower. But I look at the All-star worthiness of players based on their performance form Feb 07 - Jan 08 or something. Not just the first half of this season. In which case Luongo, Kipper, Backstrom > Osgood. And even if you look at this year's stats you could replace Kipper with LeClaire. Besides, if Osgood is as good a candidate as people here say he is, he won't need a write-in, rather he'll get picked by the coaches, GMs or whatever. Guest jaytan Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Good call! You know, the Wings have the largest US fanbase of any NHL team, and Ozzie is certainly deserving (so far, at least). If he keeps up his great play, we definitely need to push for him to get the honor.

The All Star game is a popularity contest now, by definition... so if a player is popular enough - ala Rory Fitzpatrick - it's possible that he can get in the lineup based on write in nominations alone. You can apparently vote as often as you want. So, prepare to ballot-stuff, Ozzie fans! Sharks fans did it sucessfully a couple of years ago, as I recall. I "borrowed" this from snapshots blog (mlive) -- rules for voting on the ASG lineup: The 2007-08 season marks the 20th year in which fans will determine the starting lineups for the NHL All-Star Game. Fans can vote for six Eastern Conference All-Stars and six Western Conference All-Stars: three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender for each team. If a player is not listed on the ballot, a space is provided for "write-in" votes. The three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender from each Conference receiving the most votes will comprise the starting lineups. Each of the 30 NHL clubs has at least two representatives on the ballot. That last part, where Bettman insists on at least two players from each team is where the whole thing got watered down, IMO, into a show rather than a game. The best are not always represented in the line ups, just the most popular (although they're often one and the same). But that's OK, it's about the PR anyway. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks for posting the rules, loo. The important thing here is that it sounds like you can write in more than one player per ballot. So the "Write in Ozzy" campaign won't take votes away from the "Write in Homer" campaign
DEVILSWATERBOY 10 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Allstar voting what a load of crap alot of the players that get in are just there becuase of name being reconized, the way Ozzie is playing he deserves to be there it should be detemined on how you are performing this year not last year write Ozzie in. OZZIE OZZIE OZZIE

kylee 727 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 ill write in Ozzie... but for him to seriously get near being an all star this thing obviously needs to pick up outside of michigan... but how.. where can i vote? im not seeing anything on the NHL site..
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 He might get in, but not if he has to share starting duties with Hasek. Also, Luongo and Kipper are bigger names, and we know the league is desperate to try to market its stars, so I don't see Ozzie being voted in ahead of those guys, unless they put up some horrendous numbers. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 I was going to vote him in non stop/million times anyway, so HELL YES let's make a CJO campaign!

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 I'd like to see Cloutier in the All-Star Game. For comical purposes, of course. I would start the campaign, but you have to actually play in the NHL to play in the All-Star Game, if you know what I mean.
