Well, I never saw anything special in him. Even last year with his goals in few minutes. However is it just me, or has he looked great out there the last few games? He looks fast actually, i mean darting to open spots. He looks great on that second power play unit. I think they should make that 2nd power play line the 2nd line. Hudler - Flip - Cleary

I think he's looked good, and the team would benefit from splitting up Dats and Z, to put with Flip and huds with Holmer and Franzen being the other wingers...or Cleary.

The second the ZDH line stops being effective. I love them they work good and if splitting them doesn't work we can put them back, but to balance out our team and to get MORE scoring in the long run, something has to be done to give us more solidity on our other lines.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I could see it coming apart near the end of the season if anything happens. Putting all our eggs in one basket...so to speak.

Yes, he does look very fast. And full of confidence. Exciting to watch.

I always liked Hudz, And now after a 2 game loosing streak, Babs needs to send a message to every body not only Kopecky,Lilja. Split up ZDH, Give guys like Hudz and Flipper more of a chance to suceed.

Hudler-Datz-Homer

Zette-Flipper-Franzen

Cleary-Draper-Maltby

Drake-Kopecky-Downey

Split the ZDH Crew up, have 2 balanced scoring lines instead of 1 good and 1 not so good. Bench sammy next game if he isnt taking it off anyway. 3rd line is a solid defensivly and gritty line and 4th line Drake nad Downey will crunch knuckles.. and Kopecky will follow there lead.

Hudler needs PT, he has splashes of brilliance, and has the determination to get better. You can see the obvious improvment from last year to this. And puttin him on a line with another struggling youngster *flipper* and a selfish player in *Sammy* your not helping his development. gah. i hate sammy.

i agree with all. ZDH has stopped being effective for the time being. Split them up.

i think Franzen needs to drop to the 3rd line. He's just not been effective this season. I'd go with:

Hudler - Datsyuk - Homer

Flip - Z - Sammy

Franzen - Drapes - Cleary

Maltby - Kopecky - Drake/Ellis/Downey.

I agree..as stated above, because I think we're putting all our eggs in one basket with the ZDH line and an injury could down us. Also it would be nice to give these guys a chance.

I disagree with one thing...I'd rather see Flip with Dats as they played well together last year. And Hudler with Z.

Hudler - Zetterberg - Homer

Flip - Datsyuk - Franzen

Maltby - Draper - Cleary

and so on.

Zetterberg's icetime would go through the roof with him playing in both 1st and 2nd.

Otherwise those lines look quite good, but if Mule doesn't improve soon,I'd consider Sammy for 2nd line spot.

LOL...oops.

You've caught on to my master plan to eliminate Datsyuk :P I will fix that!

PS. I'm not putting Z above Pavs or Pavs above Z, I think the lines would get equal-ish ice time over the games.

I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeing from Hudler. I think splitting up the top line is probably something to be constantly revisited, depending on how the other lines produce. If they can get good secondary scoring, then fine, leave them alone. But if not, then it's prudent to separate Zetterberg and Datsyuk.

It's impressive that a 4'8" man who weighs 74 pounds can be an effective NHL player.

Hudler is certainly answering the call. I said this before, but Babs latched on to him like some kind of Marine boot camp drill sergent - no breaks at all and Hudler is rising to it. I think he is playing great and will continue to improve. Having line options like all those you guys suggested will be a good thing.

I thought Huds generally looked good last night but I will say that there were multiple occassions when both he and Filpulla had the puck and a clear chance to shoot and opted to try and pass instead. I seem to recall screaming "Shoot!" quite a few times.

Ah, they just need some more confidence.

Incidentally...your sn makes me hungry for turkey and it is that time of year... *tummy rumbles*

Filp reminds me alot of Zetterberg. So I think he and Dats should play on the same line and let Huds and Zatta play together.

How does he remind you of Hank? He's not as good defensively, isn't as strong on the puck, and lacks those movie star looks.

sure he isnt as good as hank, but he has skates like hank. He TRIES to be strong on the puck.....plus him and hank are the only to guys on our team who pull wraparounds when they are forced to the outside.

No comment on the looks though

The biggest reason I would go with Rex with Dats and Flip with Zets is this: Rex is an amazing goal scorer, and Dats talks a lot about just wanting to set up a great pass for a goal. Then Flip has always been questioned about whether or not he has the finishing touch, but I know he can pass. Zets can finish Flips passes, and Rex can finish Dats passes...

Personally, I think Filp looks a bit like Tinkerbell. All we need is another tiny forward to team up with him and Huds and we could have a line called The Pixies.

One of the most dominant performances by a red wing in the alst couple years came courtsy of Hudler and Datsyuk in a pre-season game last year. Hudler had 4 goals =D

I think it would be a good idea to spilt them up for a few games to give some other lines some chemistry early on. It's great that we have a line we can go back to, in order to get the points, but we need another big scoring line as well imho.

Filp-Z-Cleary

Rex-Dats-Homer

Franzen-Draper-Maltby

Drake-Kopecky-Downey

4'8, 74lbs....hahahaha
