Hank 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Funny post.. lots of shouts to LGW. http://wingsnation.wordpress.com/ Sure, he points out some of the finer moments but he neglects to speak of the 100000000 times he's played "What's Going On?", "I'm An Innocent Man" or "Open Up Your Eyes" every time the Wings get a penalty. It was slightly humerous the first time I heard it, but it's been 15 years. Enough already. If I met this guy I'd punch him in the colon and burn his CD collection that consists of 4 albums. WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Wait, so its not just a continuous loop that they have played at every home game for all these years??? News to me. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I was pumped up by a song at the JLA. Luckily for the Wings I don't really care what music is being played since I am usually paying full attention to the game. But the argument could be made that the music at the JLA has something to do with it always being sooo quiet.
wingfaninco 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Funny post.. lots of shouts to LGW. http://wingsnation.wordpress.com/ No matter how repetative over time it gets trust me its better than the random, none pertinent crap they play out here at Coyotes games. Out here its just the same dance mix crap every break in play so the Ice Holes can run down the stairs and do their best Laker Girls impression in the aisles. It would be a step in the right direction if they found the Dragnet Clip at least.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I've always thought the music guy at the Joe was relatively clever, especially when compared to other arenas' music around the league.

While some of the things the JLA music guys plays can get old, there's a good amount that are hilarious. "I can see Clearly now, Doo-Lang (He's So Fine), Wide Open Spaces are all great. It all comes down to personal preference. I think he's doing great and I look forward to him finding new goal songs for the other Wings that currently are without one. I find him witty.. aside from the standard staple of penalty songs. I read this in the post, and have wondered this myself at times: Draper goals are followed by a plea from Kriss-Kross to “warm it up Krisâ€Â. No word yet on whether Draper has replied with a frustrated “I’M ABOUT TO!â€Â.

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 (edited) I like the music at the joe... i really like the choices they play for the team coming out on the ice... They adjust them over time... but i remember it was really cool when they played "Welcome to the black Parade" several time last year for I believe the 2nd period entrance. Then again i am one that loves the joe and everything about it... I would rather see the NAIAS be screwed than have a new arena built. Ooooo the blasphamy i know... the big three Detroit saying screw them.... yeah working in the auto industry for the past 8+ years, I have to say its pretty much screwed anyways. OsGOD 3 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 (edited) Hmm let me try this one...NAIAS = North American International Auto Show i know silly isn't it... the "I only Buy American crowd" just lets these international companies waltz right into the heart of the big three and promote their wares at the worlds most expensive flee market for vehicles.... I am unsure about their loyalties also... hehe Edited December 3, 2007 by OsGOD
wingnut22 81 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 EEEEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF you. aw thanks . I love the music they play though, a lot of the songs are ones I listen to on a regular basis! haha. I miss "He's so fine" and "Little Willy" too.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I agree with the majority of responses, I enjoy the music at the Joe. Every song fits to what's currently going on. It's fun to figure out why it's being played at the moment. I remember the first times I heard "He's So Fine" for Lang and "I Can See Clearly Now" for Cleary, and thinking, "Man, that's clever". It takes talent and a vast knowledge of music to come up with all those fun connections. Most songs I notice at the Joe too have lasted the test of time. I think since we're Motown and had a lot of influence with the music scene in the 60's and 70's, we should have more classic tunes and not ones that are popular for only 6 months (i.e Barbie Girl song or Macarana). Matt 1,049 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I'm assuming this was written by the same "Matt" that runs this site. Nope, not me. By now you should know that all Red Wings-related web sites are 90% likely to be run by individuals by the name of Matt. Myself, Matt Wuest at RWC, Matt Saler at On the Wings, this guy's blog, etc.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 A game that I went to a couple yeras ago during an intermission had the 'kiss' sign on the jumbotron and scanned the arena for couples to pressure into kissing. Of course there was some makeout music playing, but amidst the lovestruck and possibly embarrassed couples, the cameraman spotted a man with an empty seat next to him. Suddenly the music changed from the 'in the mood makeout stuff' to "All by Myself". I don't know if this happens regularly or not (it was the only time I had ever seen it at a game), but I definitely laughed out loud.

Copenhagen848 58 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I was at a game vs. Columbus last season and it cracked me up when the Jackets skated out onto the ice to warm up between periods (before the Wings came out) and they played some ballerina type music I couldn't help put picture those guys twirling around on figure skates or something. One of the funnier "music guy" moments I thought.
