Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Thank God Dats is scoring goals again! I'm not sure how much icetime he got a center last night but he won 8 faceoffs which is more than he's one in a single game all season. Plus, he scores 2 goals, both coming from the slot or right hand side of the ice. Funny thing how Datsyuk, when given the opportunity to play center or like a centerman scores almost at will. Look at the past 7-8 goals he's scored. He got every single one of them from carrying the puck up through center ice and taking shots from the slot area or from getting chances on the right hand side of the ice. I haven't seen him stuck over there at left wing, hanging around the left wing boards with zero scoring opportunity in 2 weeks now and I'm loving every minute of it. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Well, I do recall suggesting that the goal he scored against St. Louis (fluky type goal from outside the blue line) just might have been the type of goal he needed to score to get out of his goal scoring slump. Well, since that game, he has 8 goals in 9 games.........
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 I didn't watch the game but was able to catch some highlights, did they break him and Z up on the PP or were a couple of those rushes mid line change. He seemed to be on the ice with Huds a lot in the highlights? Any Help?

He seemed to be on the ice with Huds a lot in the highlights? Any Help? They started with Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom but then changed to Datsyuk-Filpula-Holmstrom. The powerplay was still in tact, although this time it was Datsyuk staying out longer and Zetteberg going to the bench first. They flipped flopped between Zetter being on the first line and second line throughout the game during the 5 on 5 though.

Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted December 5, 2007 (edited) The coaching staff told him to shoot more, and he's sure listening. Hopefully he continues to shoot. Cause the guy has alot of deception and accuracy in his shot. I wanna see Pavel get a hattrick so bad. Im sure it will happen eventually. He's such a playmaker too. If he keeps shooting, the opposition will have an even harder time defending him. Will he pass? Will he shoot? Will he deke, then shoot? Gotta love it. Pavel is the man. Opie 308 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 I have Dats, Homer, Lids, and Ralf on my fantasy team and I am hoping that they continue to get more numbers as the season goes on. And seeing as shots count as points SHOOT DATS SHOOT!!!!

And seeing as shots count as points SHOOT DATS SHOOT!!!! *cringes* Good God. I would never be part of a league that counts shots on goal as part of a fantasy stat. Im 2 leagues right now. One on cbssportsline. And one on yahoo. And I made sure that both leagues excluded that stat from counting.
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Another one counts face offs won. They were setup by friends so I didn't get too picky about what stats were included I just joined to help fill out the teams.
Yemack 1 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 yeah it's great that finally he is putting them in nets. I hope he realize how dangerous he can be with ALL his skills As for scoring more at centre, I would venture a guess that when being broken up with Z and homer, Datsyuk is THE man on the line so he has more urges to shoot himself whereas in Flying Circus Unit, he likes to be involved in making opponents dizzy and be the set up man. Also I agree that he looks a lot more confident at centre. Anyhow now that we have Dat coming along just fine... if only we can get Sammy going.

No one on this site was really worried about Dats were they? He has played amazing all year. G-A-P doesn't matter nearly as much as most think and one of his greatest attributes is he only takes what the opponent gives him. I wish i could take away the puck like that guy though. I believe he has had 4 goals off take aways in the last 9 games.
WingNutt 12 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Pavel is completing destroying the competition lately. He is on his game and was so close to a hat trick. it will happen eventually Pavel just keep playing how you are and you'll be fine. great game last night, fun stuff to watch. and can you believe that this time last year people were wanting him traded for Shane Doan??? I told you guys Pavel is a special player.
PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 The greatest part is that Datsyuk can strike at anytime - he gets inside the other teams' heads. I mean both his goals last night were unassisted. He can score on a steal, give-and-go, breakaway, wrister, 1-on-4 and make it look easy! Even when he's "not feeling energetic" haha
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Datsyuk looked like the superstar that he is last night. The Habs didn't look great, but no matter -- he was on, and he was awesome, even split from his boyz, Z and H. I love that Pavel flies under the radar a bit, probably because of the excellent play of others on his team, notably Zetterberg and Lidstrom... but on a given night, it could be just about anyone who is shining on this team. It's all about the team. I am so grateful Datsyuk is locked up as a Wing (for seven years, isn't it?). He's only going to get better.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Yeah, it's definitely time to split Pavel and Hank up, now that Pavel is looking to shoot more. I like the line combos from last night, only I'd put Hudler on the 2nd line instead of Franzen.

mhurley 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) As a Ranger fan, I must say it must be amazing to watch Datsyuk 41 games a year. He is a better goal scorer then Bure. Simply lethal. Even when Jagr is on his game, he can't hold a candle to Pavel. Unfortunately, Jagr doesn't come to play every game. Thank you Red Wings for an entertaining game. To bad Montreal didn't make more of a game of it for you.. Edited December 6, 2007 by mhurley
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I've said it since I've been on this board I think Dats is our best player, his defense is underated, he likes to pass not shot, so his goals were low, and Zetta is more of an out going player. Ok Datas is our best offensive player, I think Zetta is amazing but Dats just was created by the same guy who created the russian from rocky, perfect. With the Eruo twins together I know we will get at least 2 stanely cups, not saying this year but eventually
