Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) EDIT: McKenzie was wrong... The Anaheim Ducks are not as caught between a rock and hard place as we thought. Contrary to what was reported here yesterday, and many other places, the Anaheim Ducks do not have to free up $3 million in salary commitments next season to get Scott Niedermayer into their lineup this season. The number is actually less than $1 million, about $880,000 to be exact. http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/mckenzie/?id=224549 Edited December 7, 2007 by Canadian Wings
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) Just imagine if he gets shipped to a crappy team. :nonono: That can't be what Schneids envisioned his season would be like. Even though this wouldn't be your standard sign-and-trade deal, I can't imagine this makes Burke look any "better" than he already does. A team like the Chicago Blackhawks, who now look like a legitimate playoff contender, have a young defence that could really use the influence of a Mathieu Schneider-type blueliner, so this is going to get very interesting in the days and perhaps weeks ahead. This isn't a shot at the Blackhawks at all, but that team is seriously becoming an hotbed for ex-Wings. If this keeps up we'll actually be able to state with certainty which team is better, the 2007 Red Wings or the Red Wings of 5 years ago! I agree. If I were a player, this would make me second guess signing with the Ducks in the future. Or at least wherever Brian Burke is general manager. I think he's smarter than this but his options are limited.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) I think the rule is crappy in general...maybe Schneider will out play Neidermayer this year and Burke would want to move him and keep Schneider. This is a major issue with the new CBA. DISCLAMIER: I am not implying that Schneider is better than Neidermayer, I am just trying to make a point. Turkey 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Edmonton sure needs D-men. So do the Rangers. I'd prefer to see him there. I like the Rangers and I think he'd just languish in Edmonton; they aren't going anywhere this year.
Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Thats a tough situation. Id get rid of bertuzzi before i got rid of schneider though..
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I wonder if Toronto would be interested? Just kidding, to what Mckenzie said. If they did trade Schnieder to Chicago, I'm actually not going to be surprised if we go 0-8 against them. It's not that Schnieder is a team changer, but these former Wings just come back and bite us all the time it seems.
Turkey 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Burke is the only person crazy enough to pay 4 million for Bertuzzi. I don't think he'll be moveable.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 That's what he deserves for signing with them even though he knew that Niedermayer might come back, thus creating a situation just like this.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I could definitely see him going to Carolina or NYI. With MAB going down, and Kaberle the only semblance of a PP QB on the Canes, both could use him.
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Burke made his bed. And now he has to lay in it. Some tough decisions are gonna have to be made. Bertuzzi has been a regular contributer since coming back from Injury. But then again, so has Schneider.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) i think they will get rid of someone else Schneider has been great for the ducks and bert is looking better game after game. They should get rid of Beauchemin. 11pts in 29 games and Schneider has 11 pts in in only 14 games. Beauchemin is -4, Schneider is +1. Would be stupid in my opinion to get ride of schneider and not Beauchemin. and maybe some one else if just beauchemin doesent get the space they need. Beauchemin gets them half the cap space that they need. They need to clear a little over $3,000,000 and Beauchemin makes $1,650,000. You aren't going to find another guy at that price who can play the kind of minutes that he can. Bertuzzi just isn't tradable at $4,000,000 on a non-rental basis. I would think they'd like to hang on to Andy McDonald at $3,333,333, however, if it comes right down to it, he could move. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 McKenzie just cleared this up on 'Thats Hockey' about 15 mins ago. All the Ducks have to do is clear $880,000 worth of Cap space. Schneider and Bertuzzi don't have to go anywhere for Neidermeyer to play. My guess is it will be Sean O'Donnell Link http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/mckenzie/?id=224549

Mors 201 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 I still like Schneider, it's a s***ty situation for him...especially with Neidermayer's ridiculous behavior (Don't need to get into an argument, just my opinion, but I think randomly deciding to rejoin the team 4 months late shows a lack of class...)
