I think a lot of us have daily, or at least gameday, rituals that we follow. For example, I have a dry-erase board where I write notes to myself. At the top of the board I have a reminder of the upcoming Wings game. It reads:

Wings vs (TEAM NAME) on (DAY NAME), (MONTH), (DAY#) @ (TIME) on (CHANNEL) and I update this after every game. I write all info in red except for the opposing team's name, I use one of their colors (but never red).

I also keep track of wins and losses and scores on a sheet next to the board.

Anyone else have OCD compulsions when it comes to the Wings on a regular basis? Visiting the site doesn't count.

i carry a red wings schedual everywhere and right down the score, who scored and who is in goal. i also have 3 red wings bracelets, the red and white mix, i wear on my left arm. if there is a home game for the wings, i wear my red bracelet on my right arm. if it is an away game i wear white on my right arm.

I mark the games on my calendar. I put who we're playing, who it's against, after the game I put whether it was a win or loss and put the score. I put a little side note on important stuff like a fight, shut out, or hat trick.

On game days I'll wear my Red Wings dogtag to school, even if it doesn't match my out fit, but I try to wear red so it does.

I have worn a silver octopus pendant every single day since 2001. A friend gave it to me (also a Wings fan) to bring luck to the Red Wings. It's quite beautiful and when people ask me about it, I tell them about the Wings and the history of flinging cephalopods on the ice. :yowza:

I also play my own invented game of "Red Wings License Plate Search" in traffic. If you live in Austin, you know how much time you can spend looking at the rear end of a thousand cars every day, trying to get from point A to point B. Whoever is in goal, I have to see a 30 or 39 - or we'll lose. :hehe:

If I see a line combo - 40, 13, 96 - that's extra good luck. So is seeing combos on the same plate, 33 and 18 for example, but that's harder to do. If I see a player's number more than once, he's going to score that night. I saw Flip's 51 twice yesterday. Ta-da!! Now you know how I amuse myself in traffic. Warning: this takes practice, or else you will run into other people while searching for Homer or Lebda numbers or somebody, so watch out!

Other than that, I have to wear red somewhere on my person on gameday. :hehe:

Oh thats an easy one. Before a game I get out my Tarot cards and my Ouija board. I recite incantations, douse myself in holy water and dance around naked. I then light a bunch of candles and , lastly, I sacrifice a duck on an altar. (It used to be a chicken, but after last year ... well...)

i keep a whiteboard with the schedule for the week (day, time, opponent, channel, score), record and total points. about 5 minutes before the game starts, i have to take off my hoodie and put it on the back of the couch (yep, i'm pretty superstitious). finally, there's always the rgdt.

I have a wall in my room that has a wings calender that I wrote all the days of the games in, with the time, etc... and then I have a schedual that I mark the wins or losses and then I star games I go to...

I also have a book that I keep all the wings articles in and I put a ticket from the games that I go to in it with who scored and anything else that happened in the game.

Then I have a bulliten board with tickets and random wings things.

The only thing I wont do is get a wings jersey...I have what I call a jersey curse. I got a Fischer jersey right before he collapsed, I had an ozzy jersey that I got right before he got traded, out grew it and then he came back...I also had a Wallace jersey and my latest buy...a Brandon Inge jersey...I refuse to get another jersey.

Right now I have my living room looking like a locker room, I have my plain home jersey, home and away Yzermans, Lids away, and Shanahan jersey turned so the winged wheel is showing just hanging in my living room. I started this at the beginning of December to add some Christmas color, also my roommate is a huge Blues fan, but it has worked pretty well this month. I also have to watch the game wearing at least three things that has the Red Wings on it. I broke this rule against the Blues on the 20th and paid for it with the only regulation loss in December. Every game day if I have to work I wear a red tie.

Side note; I've been to two Wings/blues games this year in St. Louis and the first time it was like the blues just won the Stanley Cup. I never saw such sore winners before. Everyone that walked by me had to yell "Detroit Sucks" or "f*** Da Red Wings", there was even a little 10 year old kid who was getting harrassed by some drunk fans because he was wearing a Zetterberg jersey. Completely classless in their 4-3 win. Then this Thursday I didn't hear a word after the Wings dominated without two of their top scorers and I was surrounded by blues fans. St. Louis fans need to stick to a sport they know like baseball

That's one of the main reasons why I won't move to Austin, as much as I'd like to.

I don't have any rituals for the regular season. When I lived in Michigan, my friends and I had playoff rituals. We'd go to the same bar and order the same things. If we lost the game, we'd go to a new bar for the next game.

Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch.

I'm the most dull and boring fan on the face of the earth. I don't do anything special pre or post-game, and I don't do any excessive ranting or raving or yelling at my television during games, sometimes I barely make any peeps.

There's only 2 advantages to this.

(1) My TV doesn't have any damage.

(2) Even though I am dull to watch games with, at least it might be halfway enjoyable because you don't have to deal with any crap of mine. :P
