Getzlaf's a frikkin manchild! searching , searching This info paisted from a 2003 CHL.ca website: The game is open to players 25 and under who are playing on entry-level contracts. The Young Stars players were selected by the NHL's Hockey Operations Department, in consultation with NHL General Managers. The game will consist of three 10-minute periods using running time with 15-second stops after goals. If the score is tied after three periods, a sudden-death shootout will determine the winner. So with that info in mind, what Wings are on entry level contracts that might make the team? Sorry, can't find any '08 rosters at this time.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 11, 2008 Sorry, can't find any '08 rosters at this time. Hasn't been announced yet. Hudler should be there before Filppula, but Hudler isn't eligible, he's on his second contract. Filppula is still on his entry level deal and is eligible. He probably has a shot at it, but I haven't bothered checking who else might be eligible.

With help from the excellent cap tracker right here on LGW, Flip is the only Wing on his entry-level contract. And as an official Valtteri Filppula Fan, I would love to see him play in the young stars game.

shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2008 I thought that the young guns game was so fing boring last year. I don't really care who plays in it unless they really put a little effort forth in the game. My idea. Treat all-star weekend like MLB does. Who ever wins the weekend gets home ice in the cup finals. Take the scores from both the young guns and the regular all-star game and add them up. You can also take the final score from the skills comp and add that into the mix. I think that this would help to make the games and skill comps a little more exciting and meaningful. I propose this idea only because the game and skills comp was pretty boring last year. They need a way to spice it up a little bit and get the guys to try a little bit harder.

Some random goal scored by a Los Angeles King should not have an effect on the Stanley Cup Finals.
Yemack 1 Report post Posted January 12, 2008 ASG and home adavantage? I heard that before but I don't like the idea one bit. I agree that they should come up with something to generate more interest but I really don't think home advantage in playoff final is the one. By the way, isn't Young Gun game scrapped for good this year and after? I heard somewhere that young guns will only participate in some skill competition and that's about it

I have no idea about future years. You'd think they'd get the rosters announced, though, wouldn't you?

I wouldn't want the Wings to win game 4 of the finals in another team's barn just because Luongo felt like taking it off.
