FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 I can't stand the sight of him, never have been able to. It's my opinion, it doesn't have to be based in common sense or facts. Way to elaborate. Care to actually give a reason?
egroen 384 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libel Satire - which that obviously was (especially of a public figure) - is quite safe. Anyways - I want Forsberg and Dany Markov. Best case scenario - they fill the exact holes we need and help us win the Cup Worst case scenario - Illitch loses some money No roster players, prospects or draft picks lost. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Markov - no chance, but I would love to see him back though. Forsberg - more likely than Markov, but I doubt he would choose Red Wings from all the offers hes gonna get IF hes back. Would be awesome addition for sure. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) I can't stand the sight of him, never have been able to. It's my opinion, it doesn't have to be based in common sense or facts. Ok, then I find that reasoning to be pointless. You wouldn't sign a guy that clearly increases the Wings chances of winning the cup simply because you can't stand the sight of him. That's pretty stupid if you ask me. Sidenote: If that were the case, Ricci would've never gotten a job in the NHL. Spinner 6 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 He would never come to Detroit because we wouldn't allow him to have his case of whine in his carry-on.

MSUDoubleJ19 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Well, he's likely to have beaten women he was romantically linked with and I think that he never picks up the tab when he goes to dinner with teammates. From what I've been able to find out, he also is interested in child pornography. I don't know if you think that makes him a terrible person, but if it doesn't that's fine. If you're going to make 3 outrageous claims (2 extremely horrible to even suggest about a person if you are just speculating) you'd do well to back yourself up with some links/proof. Forsberg is one of the best players of all time. I believe he still has it in him, while his physical abilities may be less than what they were, you don't lose skill over time. However, I believe his desire/drive and health are liabilities at this time and leave too much of a question mark for now.
TeeMan 52 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Yes I agree. If the wings wish to lose a great player and a 1st round. We might get Forsberg. But I can't think of any players to lose for him. WE NEED YOUNG GUNS. but thats just IMO
shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 not a fan of this proposed move. He is still a talented player but is not able to stay healthy. Why throw money at him, watch him play a handful of games and then have to see his name on the injured list? Doesn't seem like a smart move to me.

Why throw money at him, watch him play a handful of games and then have to see his name on the injured list? Doesn't seem like a smart move to me. Because cap room isn't the issue. The Wings have plenty of it. The issue here is that you could add an elite player that will cost the Wings absolutely no picks, prospects or current roster players. I highly doubt Kenny would stand pat even if he added Forsberg, but keep in mind its going to cost plenty to add a solid Dman or another soon-to-be UFA in the form of picks/prospects/roster players. I don't think the Wings can realistically add two big-game (soon-to-be) UFA's without jeopardizing the future in a sizable way.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 Forsberg is in the Flyers back pocket. IF he comes back to the NHL, itll be to the Flyers. And IF he comes back to the Flyers, then I hope Detroit can pick up Knuble IF they lose out on the Sundin/Hossa/Dumont sweepstakes.

Perhaps i missed out on a rumor, but why the heck would the Flyers trade Knuble? Are they completely capped out right now?

Niyo re: Petey John Niyo posted this morning in his detnews blog that Petey is more than likely to head back to Phillie: The Forsberg-to-Philly talk was the prevailing opinion here in Atlanta [at the ASG]. No surprise there. I've had at least one member of the Wings' management team tell me in the last week that Forsberg feels he has "unfinished business" with the Flyers, not to mention a good friendship with Simon Gagne and the fact his girlfriend still has a nice place in downtown Philly. Forsberg's supposed to meet with a foot specialist this week and he hopes to play in a tournament in Stockholm Feb. 7-10. There's even speculation he'll be signed by the Flyers as early as Valentine's Day. Sounds like he's looking for a reasonably-priced deal for the rest of this season and next year, too. This is probably the main reason Forsberg will end up in Philly and not here. As recent history has shown I think they're much more likely to take on the risk of giving him the extra year (as Anaheim did with Bertuzzi) than the Wings are. That second year is something he's really going to push for....cant really blame him.
SweWings 45 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Well Forsberg doesn't seem extremely confident - can't be bothered with quotes and stuff, saw it on a hockey news thingie on Swedish TV.
