egroen 384 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 The Free Press has a few quotes from him -- just a swollen eye impairing vision. Sounds like nothing too serious.

wingsnut25 10 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Cleary had went almost two weeks with out having some form of a black eye... that has to be some kind of a record for him this season. I was glad to see him stick up for himself and drop the gloves... The Free Press has a few quotes from him -- just a swollen eye impairing vision. Sounds like nothing too serious. shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 I'm glad that he is going to be OK. I hope that the next time we play the Ducks someone sticks it to that f--k head Pronger. I hate that man and someone needs to put him in his place. How do you think Downey would do against him?
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Glad he will be okay! I figured it was due to swelling. Good thing its not to serious

I hate that man and someone needs to put him in his place. How do you think Downey would do against him? Pronger wouldn't dare fight someone who's known for fighting. Seriously, look at his history of people he's fought with. The list is a complete joke. Besides Barnaby (I believe, at least), from like 10 years ago, he hasn't fought with any enforcer/physical player. He cheap shots, then if someone retaliates, if the guy has gotten in less than 5 fights in his career and is 8 inches smaller than Pronger, then he feels it safe to initiate a fight. Otherwise he skates away and continues the cheap shots on someone smaller. Also, the writers at Yahoo say the fight was a draw "Earlier, Pronger and the Red Wings' Dan Cleary drew major penalties for fighting, with both landing hard punches in what essentially wound up in a draw." Although I would give the slight edge to Pronger (even though hes a pansy fighter), Cleary definitely held his own, and gave Pronger a run for his money. I wanna see Downey go at it though. Seriously, someone needs to mess this guy up Edited January 24, 2008 by Echolalia
egroen 384 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Well I would love to see Downey go at Pronger as well -- that 5 minute trade-off sure would be nice
Joe Puck 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 If you review the very begining of the fight, Pronger, that dirty-goon-tird-muncher, starts out by poking Dano in the eyeball with an open hand which may have something to do with his impaired vision.
wingnut96 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Like you guys said, he wouldn't go after someone who is known for fighting. Pronger is a *****, and nice poke in the eye of Cleary when the fight started.
PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 So I guess this means he CAN'T see clearly now. I was rather surprised when I realized it was Cleary who was fighting, but he did us proud. I'm glad he's not seriously hurt. He can rest up over the break and hopefully return next week.

Seriously, someone needs to mess this guy up I think the fight was a draw, just as I thought the Downie/Clarkson fight was a draw even though Clarkson was bleeding. The problem with somebody messing up Pronger is Pronger is a pretty darn good fighter. He's not a natural fighter or frightening heavyweight but he knows what he's doing. That gives him a leg up on most of our guys to begin with. That and it ain't easy tagging a 6-6 guy. I fought a guy in college who was every bit of 6-5 or so. I'm about 5-11. The fight went like this: I grabbed his jersey around his midsection and ducked to my right, he then proceeded to pound me on the back of my head about 5 times until my head split open in the back. Combine his height with his ability to fight and you aren't going to see him get fed his lunch. Probably explains why after all these years in the league nobody's done it.
