Hullies#1 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 OK...I think I have had enough. Who in the hell is in charge of what is played during the games. I still can't believe it when I hear the same s*** they have been playing for the last 10 GD years. Maybe people might stand up and cheer if they actually heard something that got them pumped up instead of the SAME OLE CRAP. Who can I contact regarding this? Someone in the marketing dept? I'm not going to attend another game until something gets done.

I like the organ music. It seems more traditional. I could care less about the other music.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 No way! Whoever selects the music is a genius. Every song means something or relates to the game in some way. It's fun to figure it out, too. I remember at Opening Night against Anaheim at a stoppage with eight seconds left in overtime, they played the otherwise terrible song from The Fray, "How To Save A Life," with the lyric "...with eight seconds left in overtime." I was literally in awe.
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 In all honesty I'd rather hear the cheesy pun crap they currently saturate their rotation with than hear just about anything from the crap they call music on any of the pop stations lately. I would also prefer it over craptacular compensation rock/nu metal. Just stick to the organ please.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I know we've heard the same music at the Joe for the last 10-15 years, but I still don't mind it. I don't go to a wings game, or watch them on tv, to hear the music. The songs that are played at The Joe, that's the only time I hear them, since I'm a Classic Rock and 90's Rock guy, so I enjoy hearing "What's Going On", "Sandstrom", "The Launch", etc.. It means I'm watching the Wings. Those songs bring back great memories as well.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I would like more fast paced music. Metallica, AC/DC, Kid Rock. You know, "drive-your-car-fast" music. The Colorado DJ is very good, he knows what the people like.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 "Sandstorm" is played by just about every DJ in the league before a PP. I like the song personally, so I have no problem with it. The Wings DJ isn't great, but he's slowly becoming a little better. At least he finally decided to play a different goal song this year (Rock and Roll Part 2, also known as the "Hey" song), and he sometimes plays some newer stuff. He's not that bad. The music isn't really that big of a deal with me. Granted, I do wish he'd play better music on a more regular basis (I like classic rock, but stuff from bands like "Chicago" just does not fit a hockey game), but he plays some decent stuff. It just depends on the night I guess.
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I could really care less what music they play, its a hockey game folks.
EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Seriously!?? If they did change the music (and I'm sure they'll change it just for you), the people that like the music they play now would be bitching because they changed it. No one will ever be happy. The last game I went to they played some old stuff as well as some new stuff (Rihanna, Finger Eleven, Kanye etc..). But really...the music they play is THAT important to you that you aren't going to go to a game!? That's pretty sad.
Hullies#1 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) I realize that it is a hockey game but if they are going to play music, maybe they could switch it up a little. Like mentioned above, the DJ in Colorado gets the crowd goin'. The organ all the time would be great but that isn't going to happen but the same s*** over and over again just annoys me. EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I was being sarcastic regarding the attendance part and I apologize for my lackluster thread. Well that's good you won't compromise your hockey attendance. I'm just sick of people bitching ALL the time, it gets reeeeeeeally old.
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 In this age of DRM and copyright laws, you also have to consider what they may be able to legally play. I can see the record companies wanting all sports franchises to sign licensing agreements to play their material.

wingnut22 81 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I love the songs that I know are coming. After a Cleary goal. First penalties of the game. Its fun to know its coming haha. My favorite one has to be after Ozzie makes a great save and you get, "The Great and Powerful Oz has spoken!!!!!!" followed by "oo-e-oo ooooo-oh oo-ee-oo ooooooo-oh" (so its not technically music....oh well). As for all the other songs, I would much rather listen to all the "old" and "overplayed" songs we have than the new stuff that is out now. there is a reason I stick to my cds. Zion 93 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Watching NHL Network, and noticed they play almost the same music from the glory days. I love that. If you do not love it, clearly you do not appreciate the history of the past decade (and change), and should go watch Nashville.

I'm going to assume that you will never bo going back to the Joe for a game since they really don't change the music. I know I would happily leave Iraq right now to be able to watch the wings play live.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I could care less about what music is played during games. If I came to the event solely to listen to the music, I would just go to a club or just stay in my car for 3 hours straight with the radio on. I go to games to watch the action on the playing surface, not the music in-betweeen breaks.
Yemack 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I would have to say Music is pretty bad. ok maybe not bad, but just plain old and boring. Arena music enhances the experience a lot to 'some' people and the way they play same friggin music over and over, it kinda cheapens the whole experience. Do people goto Olympic event for the music? no but they get the best available DJ or producer for the event anyway. I'm sure you know why.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) My main issue stems from using the played out crap like the Hey Hey Hockeytown song. Or when they'll use the "Smokin'!" line from Mask...I mean seriously...Mask?!! Its 2008 last i checked. "Yeah baby!" is another one from Austin Powers....how lame. Update your material please (or at least expand it greatly if you're going to go old school) No way! Whoever selects the music is a genius. Every song means something or relates to the game in some way. It's fun to figure it out, too. I remember at Opening Night against Anaheim at a stoppage with eight seconds left in overtime, they played the otherwise terrible song from The Fray, "How To Save A Life," "Over My Head" with the lyric "...with eight seconds left in overtime."
