Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) Hopefully this lowers his trade value now. ...and for the guy going on about Fedorov: you need to get real. Fedorov has been hurt even longer than Blake has, and is even more washed up. I will never understand why people want Fedorov back on this team. It must be nostalgia, because you all cannot be stupid enough to believe that Fedorov, who is moody, washed up, and overpaid, will really help this team. He hasn't been an effective player in nearly 4 years. I don't want Fedorov back. If he Holland does go out and get him, and it's for dirt cheap (like Samuelsson straight up for Fedorov) then that's fine, but if he gives up anything of actual value, I'll be extremely pissed. OsGOD 3 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) your right. if just 1 D goes down int he playoffs, we have to watch meech as our 6th D for the rest of it. better yet if 2 go down like last year, we'll have the amazing combination of meech and quincey as our 3rd pair. someone on the back end is needed. I thought that is what hasek was for? All those people against feds... I don't really care... We don't need anybody else... if we are to get someone I would prefer it be someone i like.... ergo my nobody Or Feds statement. LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 ...Well, lets just say when Fedorov happens, you'll wonder how I knew. If not at the deadline, then UFA... ...Fedorov back to the Wings, #91 in the rafters. End of story. I honestly don't think managment cares or not if Fedorov gets booed right now, as soon as he's back, the boos will change. It did for Chelios. ...Anyhow, back on subject, Blake will not be here because of his injury. Too risky now. If they do trade for him, he will re-injure in the first round, if not sooner and be out for entire playoffs. Time to look elsewhere...

Fedorov will not be overpaid here. The only reason he hasn't been effective is because of the teams he's played on. (that is why Osgood is so good right? Because of the team he plays for? Not because he, himself is that good?) So put Fedorov back on the Wings and he's back to a top 4 forward. Great example, where else does Cleary do so good? Nowhere but here. Put him in Columbus and he's a #13 forward. Hudler pukes even here, so trade him for a bag of used laces...

I have to say, though, that I think it's extremely funny that you're saying that Blake would be ineffective on this team because of an injury, yet Fedorov has missed the past 10 games to a concussion. What exactly is the difference?

Fedorov will come in and play defense because he could back in 1997! Oh wait, it's 2008, and Feds is washed up, injury prone and useless. I'd take him back straight up for Kopecky. If Kenny pulls that off, then great, otherwise, stay the hell away from Feds.

It must be nostalgia, because you all cannot be stupid enough to believe that Fedorov, who is moody, washed up, and overpaid, will really help this team. He hasn't been an effective player in nearly 4 years. And yet, he's still a much better player than Darren McCarty ever was, and about 50 times better than Mac looked in Calgary. And people want McCarty back and think he can help the Wings...why then would Sergei not be able to?
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 Fedorov will come in and play defense because he could back in 2007! Fedorov spent the entire second half of last season on the blueline, and was called the best defenseman the Jackets have ever had. Those of you pining for Foote might want to take that into consideration.

And people want McCarty back and think he can help the Wings...why then would Sergei not be able to? How does Fedorov help us exactly? We can score goals and play good defense already. McCarty if healthy brings the reckless abandon and heart that we so badly need. Feds is no longer a threat to teams when it comes to playing offence, and since he's never been phsyical anyways, now that he's old and broke up, I just dont see why anyone would want him. I would be all over the 2002 Fedorov, hell I might give up Dats for the 2002 Fedorov, but he isnt that good anymore.

Those of you pining for Foote might want to take that into consideration. And during that 2nd half, how many games did the Jackets win? How much sucess did the team have? Not alot. Lidstrom and Rafalski and leaps and bounds ahead of Fedorov in every defensive category, the reason people want Foote is his shutdown play and his physical style, that's what this team needs. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) This helps the trade, he was the best bet going in and still is. Honestly if you can give up a first Quincey and/or Meetch, and Grigs you not only make your D the scariest maybe ever, but you clear the D for two year which is perfect. That gives time for Ericsson, Kindl, Pyett, and Smith time to grow into the Wings lineup. Honestly Blake will be in red soon, and he will resign for a three year deal prob in the range of 3.5 million and decending. I also think no more changes will be made via trade, but McCarty will be resigned in a no brainer depth move. I wouldn't however expect McCarty to play. Just be depth. That would be all we need more experienced depth and grit. Though if Hossa could be had for that first rounder sammy meech quincey grigs and kopecky I'd do it. all other players and prospects I deem off limits. Uhhh, Blake will be going back to the Kings next year as a player, or in a management position. I don't know what your talking about signing him for 3 yrs!?!? ROFL Btw, no way in hell McCarty is going to be added for depth, are u kidding me? Some people on this board seem to have a man crush on him. He's garbage! If Feds doesn't put up numbers with the likes of Rick Nash on his line, what makes anyone think he would do it in Detroit with Filppula and Hudler and or Cleary with him ? Guy has had groin problems off and on all season, he was a great player for the Wings back in the day, but he's seen better days. Hitchcock may offer to pay someone to take him. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 Blake is way overrated in my opinion. Before his injury the LA GM was asking for a player, a prospect and a pick. That's way too. I just wonder how much the asking price has dropped, if any.
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) This thread is funny. Yes the Wings took Bert when he was coming off of an injury but look how good that worked out. Holland may be skeptical to do it again for a freshly hurt Blake when healthy d-men who can play now are available. MAC coming back to the Wings is not such a long shot anymore with Holland's Griffins offer and public comments saying if/when he gets healthy he'll get a shot. No man-love here, just fact. I haven't been watching Feds lately but a physical presence is what Detroit needs, we've got enough skill guys. A big forward that can skate every night, hit and can scrap when needed is in order ("clean" hits too, sorry Tootoo fans!). Downey can't skate every night. I feel better now. esteef Edited February 3, 2008 by esteef
