vangvace 12 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 And seriously, if we're going to hold injury problems against someone, how about we throw the name "Kronwall" into the mix? I could have sworn many have
RedArmy 4 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 yea I would love to see Fedorov back. One of the main reason I am a big red wings fan was Fedorov and the Russian five. I am still a Wings fan even though only Datsyuk is the main Russian left on the team and the entire russian five is gone. He isn't the same player he used to be, but for the right price any team would take Fedorov in a heartbeat and I think especially Detroit given the fac that he can play with some of his old team mates. Since Fedorov left Wings weren't able to get to cup finals and neither did he really. Not saying he is the only reason, but he always did produce in playoffs... As far as his number being retired, I would imagine he qualifies given 3 cups and all his wings records and being part of the wings dynasty as well as his play off performances... I think people get too emotional about how he departed the team, but when it comes down to stats and results (3 cups) he was one of the biggest contributors. Should we bring him back as a result? No. Why? Because he's well, well, past his prime. Though not to the same degree, Fedorov is past his prime as well. He hasn't been a high producer since '02-'03, nor has he played in a single playoff game since then. He appears lazy and unmotivated, and he is consistently injured. His past here is far past. The past is gone, and with it went much in the way of his dominating abilities.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) And seriously, if we're going to hold injury problems against someone, how about we throw the name "Kronwall" into the mix? Because we already have him signed and won't need to give anyone or anything away to retain him. With Fedorov, we'll be giving stuff up for a rental player who is injured. Feds on the point on PP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sammy on point on PP Even if thats all he did I would be happy with that, of course I wouldnt give more than a 3rd rounder for him (Or Sammy) Then you won't get him. End of story. Edited February 25, 2008 by Crymson

I think you missed my point. I addressed 2 comments in the thread. 1 should they retire his #, which is why I brought up the cups and his past. 2. and the most important do we want him back? As I mentioned he isn't the same player, but for the right price absolutely...
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 For cheap (Kopecky or Hudler or a pick), I wouldnt mind him coming back.
DenJ91 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I'll give you several valid arguments. -People only want him back for nostalgia. -He's on the IR. -He's consistently injured. -He no longer produces much in the way of points. -He burnt a lot of bridges with the Wings` management on his way out in '03. Will these arguments do it for you? first off, i wasn't replying to you before, secondly..no, those arguments do nothing for me but thanks
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I still want him, but given injuries, the value's gotta be going down. I want him cheap. Hudler or even Kopecky is too much at this point if you ask me and I could care less about losing either. But what do I know?
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 And seriously, if we're going to hold injury problems against someone, how about we throw the name "Kronwall" into the mix? Unfortuantely sad but true. I tolerate Samuelsson on the point of the power play probably more than 95% of the members in here, but if Fedorov can point one of the two PP units, that would be a definite upgrade. I see both sides of the argument very clearly. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Fedorov back, but I don't want to give up the country of Egypt to get him. He's in his latter years and doesn't produce as much as he used to. That being said, he still has that capability to produce, esp. in the playoffs I think, and he can play both forward and defense fairly effectively. I'm not holding my breath though and losing sleep over any excitement of possibly getting Fedorov back.
