the problem for the wings slump?

Well ,you see every wings player comes to these boards on a daily basis. they read all the negativity from the posters here and are upset from it, and quite frankly guys, its really getting to their heads. So once it all stops, the losing will stop.

I think that the passion is gone right now, but I am not worried because I know that they are going to get it back real soon. It is a long season and it is only normal to have a let down now and then.

I, as well as everyone else, knew this thread was going to come soon after tonite's loss, but instead of waiting I decided to make it myself instead.

Obviously the Wings haven't been doing so hot, and there are multiple factors that contribute. But hell, we aren't perfect, so I'm not complaining AT ALL, we have had an amazing season so far and there is still a lot to be said. But every team has their slumps and this just happens to be (hopefully our only) one. I want to know what you guys think, why we haven't been doing so well lately.

For me it's be multiple things, missing players (though not major players - still contribute a lot to our team), too many defensive breakdowns, and not enough enthusiasm in front of the net. Yeah, enthusiasm, I don't think we've been playing with that "spark," if you will, that we have presented on the ice earlier this season. I don't expect our team to be perfect and I'm not panicking at all, yet. But that leaves up for another question as well...

Do you think it's time to start worrying?

and

What do you feel is the main problem/s in our current losing streak?

They haven't been eating their Wheaties.

So, from the smart-allec/trying to make a joke response, I hope everybody gets that it is not time to start worrying. They are making the playoffs, and unless they start playing like District 5 they are going to be the top seed. And all teams, I don't care how good or bad you are, go through bad slumps.

Main problem during the current losing streak is bad skating/turnovers, but it happens to every team at some point in time once again.

No need to over-worry and take this stuff too seriously, it doesn't help anything and all it does is give unnecessary heartburn and frustration.

I don't feel that we have played a bad game as of late, but we have just had times in the games were we simply loose focus. Tonight for example, we had a bad tem minute stretch, and the Preds made us pay, normally Ozzie or Dom have bailed us out, but they can't do it all the time. We controlled the rest of the game tonight, we outshot the piss out of them after that bad ten minutes. The Wings passing hasn't been great and I think we're just in one of those February Funks, I look for them to rebound Friday!!!Adversity!!! Things have been going too good for too long!! ADVERSITY I love IT!!!!! WE NEED THIS!!! No panic here!!!

I concur.

Quite honestly, I'm happy the Wings are going through this. They need to face SOME adveristy. It'll do them good come playoff time.

I agree. Plus, the longer this goes on, the more it convinces Holland, as well as some of the blind homers, that this team isn't perfect, and does need to make a move come trade deadline time. The secondary scoring on the Wings is a joke, and they have no defensive depth either. I will call Holland every name in the book if he doesn't get another defenseman, and Meech ends up playing regular minutes in the playoffs.

Every team slumps. It's not the end of the world.

I agree but have a good time getting that point across around here. I'm frustrated that we are slumping but I am a realist and I know teams cant win 82 games(well i guess they can but it's unlikely  ) and they will have periods where they just aren't as good as they should be. It's human nature. We will sort it out, we are a great hockey team.

Haha you and me both. Hopefully he makes us proud in a couple weeks, or less.

Well it should only be 3 out of four games lost....

Effing refs.

Two of the losses were us underplaying to the level of our crappy opponent.

Tonight we simply let Nashville go to the net, poor defensive play from Lidstrom is so rare I highly think its worth being scared about.

The sky isn't falling. We need to win though so we can rest Z down the strech so anyone saying they are meaningless losses is wrong.

I agree that we need more Defensive help, also he will make the move after what happened last year coupled with the fact that it seems Defensemen are not the top target of most teams at the Deadline.

I find it far more likely that we add a top four defensemen then a topsix forward.

I think we get two kings to join us at the deadline.

Hopefully at least one for sure, and I hope it's Brad Stuart. He's younger than Blake, has just as much offensive capability, and won't cost as much either. He's who I'm really hoping for.

And the best part, he's a shot blocking machine!

I remember Blake use to be pretty good at blocking shots himself when he was with the Avs. I've kinda stopped paying attention to him after he left the Avs, so I don't really know if he plays like he use to though.

IMO, weve got a big time problem with our #4s.....We have none. Our #4 Dman is Lilja...and our #4 forward is Cleary. Both of those guys are best suited as #5-6 players at their respective positions. Conversely, we have too many #5 Dmen, and half our forwards should be #7-8 forwards.

 is that YOU coach!?

I truly think Kronwall and Cleary out of the lineup is a fairly big problem to say the least.

However, we have been averaging 34 shots per game in the 4 game losing streak, so it's tough to say. Maybe luck hasn't been going out way.
