rage 24 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Ms. Downey, is that you? Let me guess, the initial post of this title infuriated you so much, that you sat behind your computer screen just waiting for Downey to do his job so that you could post an angry, inappropriate comment because you're too big of a ***** to say something like that to anyone in real life? rage 24 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 What do you mean "now what?" THATS WHAT HE'S SUPPOSED TO DO! It's about damn time. He's not here to skate around in circles and try to score goals, he's here to beat some ass. lol. You crack me up man! But you did say you didn't want him on the ice, so NOW WHAT?? Zion 93 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Tonight he did great, and Limited himself his own time onice, cuz of his massive amount of awesome minutes. I think "awesome minutes" should be the new term for penalty minutes. Kudos! Wow... Glad to see no logic was used in this post. Correct. Motown, you set yourself up for a good "f*** you." when you started this thread. Next time, I'll use "In your face!" with a picture of someone pointing and laughing at you, to show the humor I was intending.

Opie 308 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Besides some bobbles on the power play, Sammy played a decent game tonight. While he didn't really do anything to hurt the team, he sure as s*** did slow down some PP's. But I noticed that Cheli had a hard time back there 2 or 3 times with passes from Dats. I think Lids and Ralf are so fluid of passers and puck movers that whenever anyone else is back there with that first unit it looks bad. But Sammy looked like he was trying to hard to be Ralf or Lids, he looked real indecisive on the point to me. He did make some nice plays to hold the puck in the zone though. All in all the team looked much sharper, not saying they would have beat Dallas but the team that played last night (even without Lids) scores on Turco once or twice. Opie 308 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Good thing "the days of the enforcer are long gone." Oh, wait.... The days of the Enforcer are not long gone, but unfortunately I think Bettman is trying to make that so, however games like the Edmonton Vancouver game, as an animated Engblom said, so how necessary fighting is to keeping players in line. That bit by Engblom was great. I loved watching him get so pumped up that he stood up and started using the hand gestures. I was waiting for him to pull a Tom Cruise and hop on the counter and start jumping up and down.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I think people were more hinting for McCarty to replace one of the dead weight players on the roster, such as Kopecky, for instance. Most are Kp, but there is a small contingent that have been saying we need a new enforcer instead of Downey and that Mac should be the guy.
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 lol. You crack me up man! But you did say you didn't want him on the ice, so NOW WHAT?? I would rather not have him on the ice. I'd rather have someone out there that can put the puck in the net, but when he is out there, he should be serving his purpose. Downey/Lap. was less than a fair fight, it's about time he beat someone and gave up the role of human punching bag.

Go look back at some old videos of Cam Russell for the true definition of a 'punching bag'.

Goals from the fourth line is like winning the lottery. Great when it happens but if you need it to survive then you are not going to last long.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) Even the 1 loss i have is considered a draw by many...if scored that way Downey is unbeaten. Not one of his other fights can even be considered a possible loss...pretty good for a human punching bag. Edited February 20, 2008 by Lou_Siffer

Ive watched that vid many times, and the fact Downey was still throwing punches at the end whilst Boll was out of energy... and most of hockeyfights.com seem to agree as the vote has gone to Downey. The announcers in that fight dont help as they are the definition of bias. Anyways.... Downey>Mac

That has to be some kind of a record.
