I tried telling someone last night that Flip was untouchable, and they told me I was wrong. Sorry, sweetie (you know who you are), but I was right - I know you hate me for that, and I'm sorry, but honest, gang, we females do know some things about hockey.

Sorry that's been debated 50 times in this thread... it was very questionable if he would be or not and therefore I don't think you should be throwing it in the face of someone (and it's not even me your talking to).

I'm sure him and Kenny keep in close touch about trade possibilities. If Babcock says it won't happen, I don' think it will happen. And it was posted about 10 mins ago.

Who is to say that Babs isnt just playing a PR exec. just incase a deal falls through.

I know it has already been posted, but I ljust can't get enough of looking at the beutiful words that make up the statement. I PRAY IT HAPPENS

"Marian Hossa: Watters believes Hossa could end up in Detroit, citing the friendship between Thrashers GM Don Waddell and Red Wings GM Ken Holland, Hossa's agent "does a lot of business with Detroit", and Hossa's desire to play for a Cup contender."

Just listening to the radio and Watters is saying Ottawa, Montreal or San Jose in the Hossa hunt, Red Wings are out of it. He sure changes his mind a lot.

Yup. If we ain't trading Flip, then we ain't getting Hossa. Unless of course those Campbell rumors are true, then it looks like Kronwall might be being used as a trading chip. In which case hopefully we can get Exelby coming back our way...

i want exelby hard

wait, that didnt sound good

Wishful thinking, but highly unlikely. I'll add the rest of the quote:

"Also worth noting that, as rumors swirl prior to Tuesday's 3 p.m. trade deadline, Babcock said Valtteri Filppula isn't going anywhere. He had been rumored as possible trade bait for Atlanta's Marian Hossa. Filppula was back on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom in practice."

It seems pretty certain he won't be dealt. Hudler and Sammy are it I believe.

Nobody will want Sammy. Hudler could be trade bait but not for Hossa.

I wish Lebda would be too......but unfortunately, we're just too short Defensemen. But my trade list is the same as yours.

actually minus Lilja and replaced with Huds

you know what? Holland gets way too much undeserved praise. He was pretty much HANDED an allstar team in 1997 by the former GM (forgetting his name at the moment) and used the same team to get his cup in 02. He hasn't done anything I consider that "great". The fact that he won't trade a guy that MIGHT develop in the future for a current all-star is pretty lame.

I can't believe that Ottawa traded Hossa for Heatley, and now they may trade for Hossa and have both Hossa AND Heatley!!

Something just ain't right about that!!!

I'm scared of ottawa if they land hossa.

If they got Hossa then theyre trying to fix their goaltending and D problems by bulking up on forwards. They havent had good goaltending from The Baby lately and their defense is a little suspect. They also couldve stood to add some sandpaper, having a similar problem as the Wings, especially with Neil having a knee injury..

You need to stop talking. You are starting to bring me back from never-never land.

Spectors

I'm not gonna lie. Of those four players mentioned, Flip is the least integral to his team. Detroit's already got two all star centers locked up for their top lines, and theyve got no top line wingers on the squad or coming up in the system either. If Kenny thinks he can fit Hossas demands under the cap and re-sign Hank, I see no reason why not to do this. If we re-sign Hossa, it'll be long-term.

Does anyone on here believe that if Anaheim gets Jokinen or Hossa, and we dont do much else, will we be f***ed for the playoffs? Or do you think we can compete saying were healthy and all?

 Yeah I agree! Just like Marleau and Thornton ending up on the same team.

Dude, how many years have we made the Playoffs? What's our record the past 10 years?

3 Cups in 6 years.

Playoffs, Playoffs, Playoffs.

It's like loto, you gotta be in it to win it.

Mr. Illitch owns both the Red Wings and the Tigers. One GM isn't afraid to make big moves. The other is. I think the latter should be the GM of both teams. I know one doesn't have a cap. But he isn't afraid to deal away uncertain future for superstars.

Oh god. Here we go. Hes done the little things, namely not overpaying for UFAs and key core players. He kept this team competitive longer than anyone has, and he did one of the hardest things in sports - have his team win back to back stanley cups. Personally, Im proud to be a fan of a team that doesnt have a single grossly overpaid player on the roster. Hes done a lot for this team...you best keep your mouth shut.

Before the cap, Holland's MO was exactly what you just mentioned: trading away uncertain future for superstars. It can't be done in a cap world. No one has even made a big trade yet and we already have people bitching at Holland. Amazing.

You're a jackass. Not quite as big of one as BRYAN MURRAY but you're still a jackass.

I'm not trying to, its just my input. I'm also pretty damn frustrated.

Like I said, the 97 and 98 team were NOT put together by him. And don't get me wrong, its great we make the playoffs but we should be getting farther than we have in recent years. Holland is NOT a bad GM. He's just not as great as some make him seem.

Getting Hossa could have been done in the cap world.
