Sundin will only waive no trade if 3 things happen

Sundin at $5 mill is nice.

Hey, if he can inject some of Chelios' blood in him to make him unbreakable that's fine. But it's two different positions. I dunno at 37 if Sundin can keep it up for two more years (at that price).

He is unbreakable. He's almost as durable as Lidstrom.

If you are going to compare them that's two different positions and two totally different styles of play. Sorry if I can't see Sundin plowing into a corner and knocking someone on their ass at the age of 39...

From TSN.ca

Assets Has excellent strength and reach. Is extremely slick, loves to find the holes and has a wide variety of shots. Consistency is the name of his game.

Flaws While strong on his skates, he's not overly physical considering his size. Is starting to show signs of decay, and becoming more prone to injury with time.

Career potential First line center.

Hahah, gotta love the wording there.

I like Mats. I have to say though that I want him for my own selfish needs though.

Most people here in Windsor love Toronto and hate Detroit. If Sundin went to Detroit I would probably be the happiest person around. Ohh, it makes my spine tingle hahaha.

I would have the jersey within .2 seconds.

And it's not like he's not good. He is a phenomenal player, and he'd be a good asset to the team, for playoffs. I don't know if I agree with the two year extension though.

How so? Two-years is two-years.

If he signs the two year with us after season is over, It makes him a non rental

If he signs the two year with them after season is over, it makes him a rental

That's what i was getting at.

IMO, Hossa > Sundin.... However, if Sundin's choices are the Wings and the Ducks, Kenny should sign him. Since the Hossa move is going to happen (as he claims) and ATL will want a lot, and TO wants a high prospect and 1st rounder, the move to get either one of them is in the Wings favor as well as any Cup contender.

The Wings have more prospects and will trade starters, the Ducks have the talent in place to win and won't mess with the chemistry by moving a top sixer to get Hossa.

When it comes down to it, we will probably have one of these guys and the Ducks will have the other. I would rather have Hossa simply becuase he is younger and wants an extension, and he wants a future with a winning team.

Nor can I see Sundin plowing into a corner and knocking someone on their ass at age 29, either. It's never been his style of play. In fact I think if you had to pick one forward in the league whose game is most like Nick Lidstrom, it'd be Sundin. He's been an absolute model of consistency and health. $5 mil is a good price.

Well....I've never heard anything that has suggested that Mats would only be willing to be traded to one team.

I believe he is willing to be traded to maybe four teams at max.

Of course, Sundin won't say anything publicly about being traded anywhere, so anything regarding a trade is purely speculation.

The rumours are that Anaheim is the closest to landing Sundin, for a package including Bobby Ryan, though the Leafs would like to expand on the deal so that they could land the Edmonton 1st rounder.

I also am very doubtful that Mats wants to sign a two-year deal with anybody. He's said that he will decide once the season is over if he wants to play next year. He's certainly not going to sign an extension in a city that he knows little about.

Yeah, it just doesnt make sense for Sundin, who loves Toronto and would want them to get the most they can for him (especially if he intends on returning), would now say he's only willing to go to one team. If anything, im more inclined to believe theres some BS'ing going on by the Leafs in order to push Burke to the far end of aggressiveness and part with that pick in addition to Ryan you mentioned. That to me, is what makes the most sense about this scenario.

They just run into him and fall down. He's just too big and strong to knock off the puck.

I just found this. I thought it was interesting but it could just as easily be garbage. And it's not actual news, but this kid says his sister works for a Toronto area paper:

This is the trade I have heard thats in the works. My sister works for a Toronto area paper.

To Detroit: Mats Sundin

To Toronto: Jiri Hudler, Nikolas Kronwall and 1st rd pick

My sister told me that what is being talked about is Fletcher wants as many 1st rounders as possible in this draft.

I would take that deal for four million not five, they would have to also throw in a defensmen like Kaberle or McCabe. I agree though, Leafs rumors are a dime a dozen.

Ai yi yi, that would cost the world. It's never happening.

I think the Leafs, if they trade Sundin, will take less than what MacK quoted. Never broadcast your real price, that's Bargaining 101.

But for a mil or two more you can get Hossa. Who is A LOT younger and a better talent. If you are going to spend big you might as well go for the best player that is in all the rumors.

Gotta call garbage on that one. The Leafs arent going to take a defenseman who keeps getting hurt and someone like Hudler in return for Sundin. Thats not getting nearly the value you could. And on the flip side, we wont trade Kronwall anyway.

I think Kronwall is an "untouchable" to this organization; although I could be wrong.

I agree, I dont see Kronner going anywhere, especially after the way he's picked up the play this year
