miller76 463 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I know Anaheim is a very serious threat, but I don't hear much about the Stars on here. I know we always play them well, but does it concern anyone else that the Stars are on a tear right now, and it can keep going?
rage 24 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I don't see them being built for the Playoffs like the Ducks are. I am worried that they may make a big splash come the Trade Deadline though. I would hate to see Hossa go there. As it stands, I think a healthy Detroit would beat Dallas as it stands right now.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Nope, healthy and after the deadline, our team would roll theres over. Turco would stone us, maybe 1 or 2 games, but not enough to win the series. Morrow and Ott are the only good 2-way players that'd be useful in the playoffs. As good as Ribeiro has been, you all remember Boston/Montreal in 04.
miller76 463 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Not a playoff built team whatsoever, no threat imo. What about getting into a series with injuries still out there for us? I am wondering if when we get there will Lidstrom, Cleary, Kronwall, Hasek, Rafalski, and the list goes on....will they be 100% at that time. I read today that Cleary's injury is worse than what they are reporting. I am not trying to over worry about this, just a bunch of what ifs i guess!

You can use the injury thing for every possible opponent we might have! Might as well fear Colorado for that reason while you're at it...know what i mean? Just saying in my eyes Dallas is no threat to get passed the 2nd rd, and they'd have to have the ideal opponent just to get passed the 1st.

I hope your right, because they have been playing good lately. Look at them in the standings too.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 If you line up all 16 teams in both conferences in order of which team has the best odds of winning the Stanley Cup, I would probably rank Dallas 16th. I consider them the least dangerous playoff team in the NHL. There will probably be several teams that don't make the playoffs that are better equipped for a playoff run. rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 (edited) See, maybe it's based on their performances over the past few seasons, but I can't understand how some of you think Dallas are not built for the playoffs. I think they are, and here's why: 1. While not as good as Luongo, Kipper, and maybe Guigere, Turco is better right now than Hasek, Theodore, Backstrom, Nabokov, Khabibulin, or whomever else in the West. (edit: open for debate) 2. Zubov was top 5 in D scoring before the injury, and he's an excellent PP QB. Along with a healthy Boucher. 3. Modano's play has slid a bit, but he's stilll Modano, and he's won it before. 4. They have a gritty heart-and-soul type Canadian captain. 5. They have a big core of outstanding defence-first Finns (Norstrom, Lehtinen, Hagman) 6. Guys like Barnes and Ott give them a gritty hardworking agitating presence. They lack a big scoring winger and they admittedly have a lot of unproven players, but if they can address some of their scoring needs, combined with solid team defence, I think they'll do OK this year. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Turco played well in the playoffs last year, but once again got outplayed by the other goalie. Madonna, Lehtinen, Zubov, etc. haven't been able to score much the last few years in the playoffs, which doesn't help either. I'd love to have them as an ideal 1st round opponent much more than having to play Calgary in the 1st round.
