miller76 463 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 Red Wings Injury Report (Updated on February 20, 2008) D Nicklas Lidstrom will be out at least three weeks after what first reports indicate is a sprained MCL. He was injured on Feb. 18 at Colorado. D Brian Rafalski was placed in injured reserve Feb. 14 after a groin injury sustained on Feb. 12 at Nashville. G Dominik Hasek was placed in injured reserve Feb 20. He is out with a groin injury. RW Dan Cleary is out indefinately with a fractured jaw after he was struck by a puck in the first period against Toronto on Feb. 9. D Niklas Kronwall was placed on injured reserve on Feb. 11, retroactive to Jan. 30 when he injuring his clavicle in the third period against Phoenix. Does anyone have anything notable to contribute towards dates of returns? Lidstrom? 3 weeks right? Rafalski? He was reported earlier this week Friday at Calgary. I am guessing this isn't true anymore. Hasek? D2D? Dan Cleary? I have been told on here, he should return by April or the playoffs. I have also heard the injury is worse than initially reported. Kronwall? I have no idea. I heard he was hoping for Friday as well. Part 2.... Will our injuries have any impact on what we do come the trade deadline? I am not trying to start a new deadline thread, just curious.
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 22, 2008 Lids - 3 weeks Rafalski - Maybe Saturday? Hasek - A week or two Kronwall - Not sure Cleary - Anytime from near the End of March to the start of the playoffs?

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 In all seriousness, what's stopping the return of Dan the Man? Just play with a full face shield.
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 22, 2008 We need Cleary for the start of the playoffs. Preferably for a couple games before so he can get his legs back!
miller76 463 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 In all seriousness, what's stopping the return of Dan the Man? Just play with a full face shield. I have never had a jaw injury. But I have seen where the jaw is most likely wired closed. Not to mention the pain meds he's probably been on or is on. I figure he will initially be back with a shield, but it's not going to be anytime soon.

miller76 463 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 Hasek is out with a Hip Flexor...not a Groin injury. That info was on redwings.com injury report. I thought I heard hip flexor also.

Booster313 138 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) That info was on redwings.com injury report. I thought I heard hip flexor also. Actually I don't think there is a big difference from what I just read the hip flexor is an outside muscle strain and the inside is the groin muscle. I think they have just been careful not to use Hasek and groin injury in the same sentence when he's out for a few games given the way his 2003 campaign ended. I have to be honest, based on early reports I was a little surprised to hear that he wasn't participating in the on ice workouts. He is on the road trip though which is good and if we have the ability to rest him before the final stretch and the playoffs I guess it's a good thing. GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 In all seriousness, what's stopping the return of Dan the Man? Just play with a full face shield. Go break your jaw and then run for a while until you lose your breath. Try getting it back with a wired shut jaw and youll understand why.
sinbin 3 Report post Posted February 22, 2008 In all seriousness, what's stopping the return of Dan the Man? Just play with a full face shield. There is no stability/protection for the jaw in the headgear.

Yzermania 156 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 don't know if anyone saw this at hockeybuzz.com, could be bulls*** but could be true as well, hopeully it's not... "Don’t believe the Red Wings when they say Nicklas Lidstrom is set to return in three weeks. He could barely skate off the ice after he was hit by Colorado Forward Ian Laperriere. I’m told Lidstrom could miss up to two months with knee and head injuries. We haven’t heard much about the head injury."

You know we all saw what happened in Colorado, and it didn't sit well with any of us. But I guess we can only hope and see that 3 weeks is the magic number. I have a hard time buying into hockeybuzz. Production Line 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 He said a fracture, not knowing if its a dissplaced fracture. I was hoping for a stinger, a nasty bruise nothing more...
jim3033 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Osgood also looked hurt in the 2nd. Let's hope it was nothing serious. Same thing with Downey. I didn't see Downey skating a lot after that fall he had. That hit Phaneuf made on Kopecky could have been a lot worse. That was horrible.
