Stars reaching for Richards; Habs zero in on Hossa

The Dallas Stars will acquire Tampa Bay Lightning center Brad Richards in a multi-player trade and Atlanta Thrashers right wing Marian Hossa is heading to the Montreal Canadiens before the NHL trade deadline, an executive within the league said Monday night.

haha but seriously all i have heard is that ducks are looking for a center. But burke does not want a rental and salary cap is a issue and the ducks have not locked perry up yet. So i dont see anything big happening.

If this deal is true, Tampa will be the better off team in the future. They finally get a goalie in Mike Smith, who is showing he can be a #1 goalie in the NHL, a decent checking line forward in Jeff Halpern, who will provide grit and defensive stability to the lineup, and a prospect in Fistric.

Richards is a good player, but nowhere near worth the money he makes. That salary will handcuff them for quite a while, since he's still on the books for another 2-3 years.

Ottawa's gotten better

Colorado (who could be our first round opponent) has gotten better

Montreal has gotten a crap load better

Dallas has gotten the one thing that's always prevented them from moving forward,...secondary playoff scoring

as i mentioned the ducks got better since the begining of the season

We have to make a move if we want to stay competative.

This team isn't good enough right now to win the west, let alone the cup.
