Troubles with the lead

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Does it bother anyone else that the Wings have had some problems late in games when they have the lead? I don't know if it's the Wings just thinking the opposition is going to give up, or maybe they just don't care. But the way they have been playing isn't too comforting going into the playoffs.

It was obvious that we were slipping away, but Dan O'Halloran giving Nashville two bogus power players (both of which they scored on) didn't help anything at all.

Heading into the 3rd we all knew Nashville was going to get all the calls and it would basically be 20 minutes of Predator's powerplay. It's the way the NHL works nowadays. Get used to it.

after that february we just had, I will take any kind of win... a win is a win is a win. if nashville wanted to win they should have had their act together in the 1st

I dont think we'll have to deal with s***ty refs in most games down the strech, but still. They have to keep going, theres winning and then theres barrying a team. The Wings have the talent to barry teams, but dont most nights.

You say that now, but I can almost guarantee that we'll have Dan O'Halloran in the playoffs. Walkom loves him.

who didn't see this thread coming from a mile away

I'm not just talking about today's game. The Wings have been awful in the 3rd period most of the season, allowing teams to get back into games they shouldn't be in.

As far as the refs are concerned, just as all of us knew the calls would be going Nashville's way, so did the Wings. The Wings just didn't play very well in the third period, again.

At some point, the Wings need to shape up and play a full 60 minutes.

I've been wondering the same thing, but it's really been the Wings MO since... around '94 or '95 if not longer I believe. Either they play the first two or just the third.

Ah well playoffs are so close I can taste it. Enough with this preseason already!

Big leads being blown (that sounds really wrong ) shouldn't be a shock to anybody in here, whether it is the Wings blowing leads or any other teams.

It's happened to the Wings once this year that I can easily recall, twice in recent playoffs as well.

The Canadiens blew a 3-0 lead to a loss to the Rangers. They came back from 4 or 5 down in another game.

It isn't a new occurance, it can pop up at anytime and they arent doing it on purpose.

Hopefully it won't happen in the playoffs, I'm not wanting it to happen, but it shouldn't come to a surprise if it does.
