redwing_sparty 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 so who would be best for the wings to play in the 1st round? personally i'd love to see a wings vs avs 1st round...BUT i think i would rather play nashville. i really just don't want to play chicago (it appears they are out, but you never know), b/c we seem to have issues with them this season (losses from bad bounces and crummy calls). arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Well, obviously with how close 6-9 spots are, we could play a bunch of different teams. But lately, Van has been sitting in that spot. As much trouble as Luongo could be, I would LOVE to be the Canucks in the playoffs this year. Though, it would be a very stressful series for me to watch. Plus, goalies can steal games, that can sway a series. Luongo seems like he could do that.

Plus, goalies can steal games, that can sway a series. Luongo seems like he could do that. For sure he could. But I think with a guy like Luongo, and that organization, take them out early. If we are going to go all the way this year, there isn't going to be a single cake walk series. The west is tough. And I think at some point, we Will have to go through the Ducks again. redwing_sparty 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 i really wouldnt want to play vancouver. it would be nice to have a series that we could win in 5 games. Vancouver could def cause us some problems
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I want to meet Nashville or Chicago, just based on proximity, since we'll probably end up playing on the west coast in the second and third rounds. Colorado would be alright too, but the altitude may become a factor.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I would rather play the Avs in the first round, then the Nucks.. Bobby Lou scares me, and only him on that team
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Im with whoever said whichever teams are closest. The last thing I want is a cross-country first round opponent.
bigwingsfan 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Nashville would be nice, don't really want to start watching games at 10pm (at least not in the 1st round). Nashville would also be an easier opponent due to their depth.

Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 The Avs- So I could finally see some Wings playoffs games in person! Yeah! Plus with McCarty, Foote, Forsberg, it'd kind of be like old times... a tiny bit.
RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 (edited) I want to meet Nashville or Chicago, just based on proximity, since we'll probably end up playing on the west coast in the second and third rounds. Colorado would be alright too, but the altitude may become a factor. I like how your thinking. There are many factors that determines which team I would like to play first, and I think travel is a large one. Last year we had western canada once and the west coast twice. Ouch. That is why I would like a team like Nashville or even Colorado to land in the eighth seed. Both teams are relativily close, and they don't pose as much of a threat as Luongo. (imo) But whatever the case, I'm happy knowing that not one team wants to face us. Edited March 11, 2008 by RedWingedKitten

WingFanInOilCountry 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 As it stands right now, its Sharks/Ducks in round 1. It would be nice if it stayed that way. Would probably be a physical series and whichever team comes out of it should be pretty banged up.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 ROUND 4 Detroit def NY Rangers Rangers aren't getting near the Final in my opinion, really over-rated team.... done in round 1 unless they play the Canes.... on topic: I think a round 1 vs the Canucks could be good going forward... I do want revenge on the Ducks though..... even so I'll be cheering against them all the way through

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 If we play Phoenix, I have a feeling this will be the year the Wings finally have an easy time getting out of the 1st round.
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 If we play Phoenix, I have a feeling this will be the year the Wings finally have an easy time getting out of the 1st round. Phoenix has had a decent season, better than their last few. But they are done. Nash, Van and Colorado would really need to tank. And I just can see those teams doing that poorly.
