rage 24 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 Why not? Foote and Feds are both gone. It's been his team anyway. Good for them.

Hank 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 Hitchcock was on XM last night and said they've asked him to consider moving to centre next season. I guess Nash isn't sure about this but Hitch believes they could have a Lecavailer-type pivot if he moves there. He said he's got the hands, vision and size to be a dominant centre in the league. I think this might actually work out well for the Bluejackets if he takes on the challenge. Zherdev-Nash-Vyborny. That's a top line in any league.

But he was their top scorer for the past 2 seasons, topping 60 points in both years. He's having an off season. It happens. He's still a top 6 forward in this league. Actually, hes a 33 year old vet whos had 2 good years, 2 ok years, and is going on his third "nothing special" year despite getting good ice time since his time with the Jackets. Hes AT BEST a 2nd line player. As for Zherdev and Nash, theyre franchise players in theory, but they arent quite there yet. I'm still waiting for either to break the 70 point barrier (this will be Nash's first 60 point season), but Im willing to chalk that up to the lack of a good offensive center on Columbus.. But now that he looks like a man (does he look to anyone else like he could be Adam Foote's younger brother in that pic?) and we dont hear as much hype about the kid being the next 50 goal, 100 point guy, hes kinda grown on me. I dont really mind him now. Still not a fan, but I like how hes matured..

I still don't get how a top line forward who plays that many minutes a game only notches 16 assists. He was also worst on the team with a -35 that year. Tons of goals and won the Rocket Richard, but had to work on plenty of other aspects of his game. Still, I forget how young he is.

(who's never had a 60 point season despite getting lots of #1 ice time). Homer played on the 4th line and a PP specialist until all of Detroits big guns left. He was essentially in the same role that Jiri Hudler is now. Vyborny played on the top 2 for Columbus since hes been on the team - 7 seasons. Either way, Zherdev-Nash-Vyborny may be Columbus' top line, but not even close to being a top line in the league. I cant think of many "top NHL lines" that dont feature one single 70 point player. I cant think of many "top NHL lines" that dont feature one single 70 point player. LA, NJ, NYR, NYI, Buf, Edm, Phx, StL all have a 'top' line that doesn't feature a 70 point scorer. It doesn't mean they're not top lines. And Homer has been playing on the top line for the past 3 seasons and yet hasn't touched 60 points and won't again this year. You put Vyborny with Dats and Zetts I guarentee you he gets over 70 much like Kozlov recorded 80 point seasons like he did when paired with Kovalchuk or Hossa. Vyborny will never be considered an all star but don't poo-poo his talent just because of one off year. Lots of players have 1 bad year but bounce back. The point is, Vyborny put up great numbers the previous two seasons and contrary to popular belief he did so while playing very little with Nash. We haven't even seen those 3 guys play together with Nash as their centre so who knows what happens. But I'd take that top line over a lot of other 'top' lines in the league. And to be honest, outside of Zetts and Dats, Vyborny would probably be our next most talented player and more than likely our top winger. Ugh, I'm not even sure why I'm bothering to argue. This message board can be such a pill sometimes. Nobody's allowed to say anything without anyone jumping on yelling, "YOU'RE WRONG and here's why!!!". This thread started as a Nash as captian thread to two guys argueing over whether Vyborny sucks or not. It's gotten to the point where you can't even come on here and say "Tuesday always follow Monday" without someone jumping down your throat "Back in the pagean holidays, on the island of Yore, they used to push Tuesday over Wednesday once every 75 years! So you're wrong!". You think Vyborny's not that great. I can accept that. Case closed.
BlackhawksFan 4 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 Do Detroit fans like Nash? That's weird. I don't think many Blackhawks fans like him. He yaps and talks big, but he scampers away at the first sign of trouble. He did this in a game earlier in the year back when we still had Vandemeer.
