Pronger at it again

I agree, and so does Darren Dreger for what thats worth. Not sure if this has been posted and I am not willing to scroll through 14 pages so just ignore if you've seen it.

Dreger's Take on the Pronger Incident

I love this quote from Dreger:

Comparisons are being drawn to Chris Simon's stomp earlier this season on Pittsburgh's Jarkko Ruutu. Visually, the similarities are obvious and the NHL responded in December with its stiffest sentence to date, 30 games, with Campbell following his decision with this statement:

"Several factors were considered in imposing the longest suspension in NHL history for an on-ice incident," Campbell said. "While it was fortunate there was no serious injury to Mr. Ruutu as a result of Simon's action, the deliberate act of kicking an opponent with an exposed skate blade, especially where the opponent is in a vulnerable position, is and always has been a repugnant and totally unacceptable act in the game of hockey."

hahahaha.... I can't wait to fax that quote to Campbell and every major Canadian sports outlet! If Pronger doesn't get a serious suspension (ie. 10+ games) I'll be doing just that.

I'm just glad we haven't had to hear from that two-faced retard Pierre McGuire. Haha- you know... the guy who felated the wings on NBC pre-allstar game then lambasted them and claimed they were pathetic post-allstar.

The fact that he's the captain of the Ducks and therefore a leader/role model should also factor into the length of the suspension. He doesn't deserve to wear the 'C' with such conduct unbecoming of an alleged leader.

If he's not suspended into at least a round of the playoffs, all the league is doing is giving him a rest before the postseason. Make the suspension count and suspend him for a round or two of the playoffs.

23 game suspension = the Ducks' remaining 9 regular season games and two playoff rounds at seven games apiece. THAT'S fair.

10-15 games max - chris simon had no mitigation whereas pronger can with some justifcation that he was trying to free himself and was just careless. the 10 sounds pretty likely

I don't see it. Watch from 0:31 to 0:37. Intentional stomp plus he has repeat intentions to injur. He grinds his skate into his leg after the initial stomp. He was suspended twice last playoffs.

If he only gets 5-10 games and that team pulls shtuff in the playoffs...it's ridiculous. Double standards.

i don't think the "he's trying to free his skate " thing is valid because he was trying to free his skate and DID SO, then he lifted his foot back up and stomped back down on the guy, what a disgrace to the game.

I dislike Pronger as much as the next guy, but I'm going to have to say this.

After seeing it, I don't think it's worth more than five games. As much as we all would like to believe Pronger wanted to chop off an opponent's leg, it really does seem like he is simply off balance and trying to get free for the most part. I don't think he intended to stomp on him with the blade, but was trying to kick Kesler's leg out of the way and wasn't exactly on target. Hence the 5 game call I put forth.

Simon's stomp was MUCH worse.

The fact that he's the captain of the Ducks kind of says it all about the Ducks organization. I think the Ducks have alot of great captain-worthy players and Pronger is NOT one of them. Unfortunately he reflects poorly on their whole organization. They don't seem to care - this is the third+ suspension he will receive since arriving - you'd think they would get tired of it eventually. If a player like that were on the Wings - I wouldn't want him EVEN if it meant a better shot at the Cup.... <_<

Tell me I'm going to wake up in the morning and find out Pronger is gone for multiple games. I'll be laughing in my cereal for certain.

Remember, Pronger, karma can really be a pistol. I hope it bites you four ways...long, deep, wide and often.

Well, judging from the past history of Pronger/Duck punishment, I bet he's gone just enough for him to come back and make an amazing impact for the Ducks in the playoffs, driving them to their second Stanley Cup and resulting in mad love from the media for being the greatest team and defenseman in history.

I can see it all now.

You know, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate Pronger. Probably a LOT more than the next guy. But, after looking at the Sportscentre (Canada) version that had the close up of this "stomp," it honestly looks to me like he was off balance. I'm not sure why I'm not using my homer glasses right now, but I don't think this deserves a suspension, as it really didn't look intentional at all to me.

Going by past history I will shocked if the Dick gets more than 3 games if anything at all. f***** should have gotten at least 3 for his hit on Homer in the playoffs last year and 5 to 10 for the second hit on the Senators player. KIss his ass again Colin.

I guess they couldnt give it to Niedermayer and they had to choose between the gap toothed stomper and the lazy back of the head puncher,

wow who would have thought these 2 would have the same views on it.

look..its the same with a high stick call. it may not be intentional but you should have more control of your body and stick. and pronger is a repeat offender so he should get at least 10 games. im tired of these little 1-2 games he gets. it needs to stop period.

I'm really surprised that with the second angle, some people still think it was accidental.

I'll give him the some leeway. He's trying to pull his leg free and kind of stumbles a bit, but it's clear as day to me that he then stomps down on Kesler's leg in a deliberate act. You free your leg by pulling up, not by stomping it down.

Like I said, I think the absolute maximum will be ten games, but more likely 5. Which as someone mentioned on another board, is basically like resting him for the playoffs.

I don't think he should get 30 games since he doesnt have Simon's history but at least 10-15 games...

Hmmm.. why should him not having a similar history as Simon factor into his suspension whatsoever? Fair is fair. He should get 30 games, and Pronger is NO angel. We all know that.

Simon had 8 career suspensions. Pronger has 7. Please explain how this makes them different. The title of this thread is Pronger at it again. Check the first couple of pages in this thread, you can see Pronger's rap sheet there. It's not short. The TSN video anchor talks about how dirty Pronger is before even showing the clip.

Anything less than 30 games means the NHL is playing favoritism and there's really no argument around that. He has the history. It was clearly intent to harm. He has been suspended before and it hasn't taught him a lesson. An example needs to be made right here and right now that says No player in the NHL, no matter who, what salary they make, how many points they have, what team they play for, captain or not, no matter what will be suspended by the NHL for this kind of play.
