Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I think it was fair to have doubt if Wasington had not have made it but now there is no question he will win the MVP.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Hes a lock, first 60+ goal season in over 10 years, and he accounts for most of the caps scoring, its his.
IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 (edited) I think it was fair to have doubt if Wasington had not have made it but now there is no question he will win the MVP. True. There is no question, now I will say he gets the Hart. I still say runners up is Malkin, Brody, Datsyuk Edited April 6, 2008 by IceMunkee
IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 He will win it but Nick is still better Nick is not even the Most Valuable Player on the wings. Great, outstanding player but not the most deserving of this trophy on the Wings.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Nick is not even the Most Valuable Player on the wings. Great, outstanding player but not the most deserving of this trophy on the Wings. Datsyuk is about as valuable as Zetterberg. Lidstrom is far more valuable than either.
shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 So now that the Caps are in he MUST get the heart. He put that team on his back all year and truely carried them to the post season. I thought that it was nice to see his team score tonight without his help, at least in the box score. I hope that they make past a couple of rounds and that he can keep up his touch in the playoffs. Congrats to AO.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 the real question is will Washington be eliminated in 4 games or 5?
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I agree with what you said, but pretty much half of the losing streak did happen with Lidstrom in the lineup. It was losing Kronwall and Cleary that did a number, whether it was coincidentally or whatever, when them two were out was when we started the streak. This is true, but you will remember the heroic effort he put on while he was still playing. He scored with the extra man, but it was called back. That shouldn't have happened, as no contact occurred. In another game, he scored on a slick deflection, and generated all of the other offense in that game, as well.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 the real question is will Washington be eliminated in 4 games or 5? I'm pretty sure they'll easily account for Ottawa if they get them. We'll see.

I guess the beauty to this whole thing is everyone is entitled to thier own opinions. Lidstrom is phenominal but this season the most available player on the wings is Datsyuk. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 the real question is will Washington be eliminated in 4 games or 5? Are you serious? I don't think any team wants to see the Caps right now. They have all of the key ingredients to make a deep playoff run. Most importantly, they are playing their best hockey at the perfect time. The East is wide open as well. There isn't a team that I would be surprised to see represent the East in the SCF.
Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 That's pretty funny. They are far from a one player team though. No doubt Ovy is MVP but they've had a lot of guys step up this year. Not to mention getting the most out of the trade deadline for little cost.
interminded 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I think he's the biggest certainty for any award this year. No single doubt in mind that Ovechkin will get (and deserves) the Hart Throphy. There are more candidates of course, but his influence on the Caps is far greater than anyone elses on their team.
jawbreaker 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 AO will get his Hart for sure, and that's great! But he is not the best player in the league (just the most valuable). The best player in NHL is Nick. On the other hand, the MVP of the Detroit Red Wings 2007/08 is Pavel Datsyuk. Yes, he is more valuable (not saying that better), than Zetterberg, 'cause injured player can't be more valuable than the healthy one. Nick is not the Wings MVP this season, because he is playing his usual game, but Dats is better than ever. If you will remove AO from the Caps they would be 30th in the league, but if you remove one our leaders, then we would be still in the playoffs. So AO should get Hart & Pearson. IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Well answer this....who would you rather go a month without? Datsyuk or Lidstrom? I would rather not go without either of them. Since I have no control over who gets injured. I will play God for a moment, it really depends who else goes down. Everyone credits the absence of Lids to our losing streak. I think the absence of almost our entire starting Defense was sidelined was to credit. if we could have retained Raf, Kronner, Cheli, and Stewie it would not have been that bad. I know Datsyuk was still producing during that dry spell. The Oz was not playing well either. I knew it would cause drama for me saying that, it still pays to not have the same view as everyone else. I say things that go against the norm and eventually it pays off. I just wish that when looking at this team people could remove thier blinders.

If I was a coach or GM I would be hoping for my first meet up against the caps. Shut down one line and bam it is all mine. I will take any bets that they get knocked out first round. The are playing Montreal first round, now that is a team I would be fearing. Those are ingredients that make a good playoff team. The Cans ingredients make a beautiful cake, the Caps make a lopsided and dry cake with no frosting...

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I guess the beauty to this whole thing is everyone is entitled to thier own opinions. Lidstrom is phenominal but this season the most available player on the wings is Datsyuk. I would rank Datsyuk third, personally. Granted, finishing as the third most valuable player on the Wings is like getting the bronze medal in the 100 yard dash-you're still really fast. But the suggestion that Datsyuk has more to do with the Wings' success than Lidstrom is just ludicrous and untrue. There is no 'opinion' about it. It's like gravity. Technically, gravity has not been proven...and there are competing theories (granted...they are nutjob theories involving a flat earth) but when there is so much evidence in support of it, it is basically accepted as fact. Chase 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Yes, AO will get the Hart. And, after watching several AO vids on YouTube, I have decided that I need to see Datsyuk and Ovechkin play together on the same line. NOW. That would be pure magic.
