He didn't do spectacularly. He only had 5:03 TOI and I believe officially he had 1 hit. I don't remember if he got a standing O, and I have absolutely no idea if he'll play Sunday.

he looked Larry Murphy slow. While I believe that he is capable of picking up the pace, at this point, he is a liablity. The rest is up to mac himself...

Man, I really hope he can pick it up. I really want him in the playoffs, but if he is a liability then we cant.

Quick question:

So if S.J loses in regulation, does that mean we're guaranteed a tie in points or better with them for the best in the league? Whats our seasons series with them?

No.

The Wings now have 109 points. If SJ loses in regulation tonight and wins their last 4, they'd finish with 110 points.

Sorry i don't care what anyone says, wings aren't going to go anywhere with their goaltending. Soft goals or not osgood and hasek both need to pick it up. Wings drasticly out-shooting their oppenents every game and still losing just isnt right.

exactly right. we need hasek and we need hasek strong to make a Cup run. lets not fool ourselves. i absolutely love ozzie, but he gave up a few soft goals tonight.

It appeared as tho ozzie wanted the game over so he could he change his underwear because they didn't have a tv break between the end of the third and OT LOL. So it seemed as if he wanted the game to be over with to change roflmao. *just being funny*

Ozzie sucks and Hasek is washed up. I say its time for Howard or we need to reposition our goaltending efforts by looking elsewhere.

It's unacceptable to outplay your opponents to this level and still lose by a goal.

yeah and if you saw that goal, youd also know boyes was wide open. you cant always blame the goaltender. ozzie had some real solid saves tonite.

Were you guys expecting Mac to have a hat-trick or what???

I was not expecting a hat trick, but he is expected to skate at an NHL level.

He might be able to pick it up, but right now he is sub-standard. sorry.

I do hold out some hope, however.

Yes, he was integral to the cup winning teams of 6 years ago.

But this is the NHL. Just mere games before the Playoffs, not December.

Bad skaters are a liability.

The road to the cup does not go through memory lane.

Haha, didn't you say something in another thread about postponing your brother's birthday dinner tonight for D-mac's return or something like that? And now you have tickets to the game instead? You must be really good at manipulating your parents. :P

Haha yep!

My thoughts on the game:

I was SO excited that they started the Grind Line at the drop of the puck. The crowd freaking LOVED it! Mac didn't play much, it's gonna take him awhile to get his groove back, but he will.

I didn't think the Wings played all that well tonight at all. Mule, Dats, Hank, Raffy, Flip, Huds, and Kopay were the ones that showed up. *BTW, I really like Kopay* He keeps getting better and I don't care what anyone says, the guy does have grit and a mean streak in him.*

I really thought we'd win in OT or a shootout, but oh well at least we got a point!

Top 6? He played his way out of a spot period. He was directly responsible for 2 of the goals.

Also, Ozzie is clearly not the guy to lead this team in the playoffs. He looked off tonight on 3 of the goals.

I was at the game. Ozzie was nowhere near the reason why the Wings lost. They had giveaway after giveaway. He got absolutely no help back there at all.

well, I have no opinion on the game, since I didn't see it. Got a better offer (as opposed to not seeing the game anyway, thnx to TWC), so I just got home.

Did the Wings just not have their hearts in it, or what? I thought they'd be on a tear, with Mac back, and all. Perhaps this is the usual slide in the final stretch, where they are just looking forward to the playoffs and don't really step up in the final games. Seems to me that's not unusual for the Wings.

Legace for Vezina . What is with us always outshooting the other team and managing to lose anyway, though. <_<

I am sure they tried. Did Mac look OK, and get a big ovation? I hope so.

Glad you got to go, and that you got to see Mac (me = jealous).

The goalies are rarely the reason the Wings lose, IMO.

Ozzie was for sure part of the reason we lost. He didn't look that great at all. A lot of goaltenders would have swiped that Mcdonald goal right out of the air. Some of the goals were not his fault. But don't act like Ozzie wasn't at fault for anything here.

The Wings pretty much showed up midway through the third. They outshot the Blues throughout the game, but still were playing really sluggish.

D-Mac only played a few minutes. He had a couple hits, but didn't really get a chance to do much out there. It's gonna take awhile for him to get back into game form, and rightfully so.

Usually I will say that some was his fault, but being at the game and seeing the Wings play the way they did, I can't fault Oz. I'll look at the goals again *since I taped the game* but from where I was at none was really his fault, except maybe the OT goal.

that's exactly what I figured. Glad Mac is back. He must feel like he's in a dream, to be back on the ice at the Joe. Thanks, HC.

I don't really have that big of an issue with the games result. We got a point, and by having the score tied, or being down, St. Louis never went into goon mode like they always do when they're losing. Nobody got hurt. Good enough for me.

The real disappointment was the fact that there were, once again, 0 fights.

This is a meaningless loss, because we all know the Wings are going to make the playoffs. One loss to St. Louis, albeit a really bad one, doesn't mean anything. Legace showed up to play in a no-pressure situation, which he always does. Let's just see how well he does in a playoff pressure situation with... oh, that's right... the Blues will be missing the playoffs again for the 3rd straight season. What a shame.

The funny thing now will be reading the Blues fans reactions to this. Despite their pathetic team missing the playoffs again, they'll be breaking out the champaign bottles and preparing a downtown parade because they beat the Red Wings. I guess you can't expect much from fans that are too busy celebrating Vladdy's car accident and hating everything about the Wings to even pay attention to their own team, but whatever.

Have fun watching other teams in playoffs, Bloozers, because you're pathetic team won't be making it for a long, long time. It's a good thing, too, because if Tkachuk got near the Cup, he'd probably eat it.
