Definitely don't think Hudler had a bad game like he did friday. But to say he played AWESOME is once again, completely laughable. Can we say giant red goggles???

The only thing laughable is your non insightful posts. 6 shots on goals, making great plays, and being reliable defensively today = a very good game by Huds.

Hope dominator starts the rest of the season

I think he will. He's the superior netminder. If Babs truly wants a Cup, Hasek will be in there the rest of the way(barring injury of course).

You're kidding, right? Except for a few great saves, all Ellis did was stop our weak 60 foot shots that had no chance of going in. It was an easy game for him.

not exactly. or we're watching another game.

there was a good number of shots from the side of the goal where

Wings players got ahead of Preds D-men and had a go for Ellis goal.

he was perfectly positioned for each of them and left no chance for

nifty shots close to the pipes. he's also maintained good focus

with some crowd in front of him which doesn't happen that easily.

he got a lot of help from the team which for most of the game played

total crap... pardon, I mean trap, and clogged all skating lines going

in his direction. but he made those necessary saves even if these

were not looking spectacular. if it doesn't count in your book it's

your problem. this is the kind of play that could give Ellis excellent

run if this team advances into playoffs.

Nashville did exactly what they wanted to do. It was a slow, boring game but they pretty much managed to shut down our offense. That was a preview of the playoffs. Any team that blocks our blue line shots and keeps us to the perimeter has a chance to beat us.

QFT. and what's most disgusting about this is that it was them who

was supposed to be gunning for a win. instead, they looked like they

were falling asleep at times, especially in period 1. I mean... it's really

strange to see a team that is fighting for final playoff spot clogging

blue line with 4 players when being on PP. it just fits like Mike Ricci

dating Jesica Biel... :scared:

It's funny how in one post you bash someone for having red goggles on, then in the other posts make it sound like Dom singlehandedly stole that game.

I'm not a Huder fan, but his line was buzzing tonight and he had several great scoring chances he just couldn't bury. 6 shots on goal.

Dom didn't have to do much through much of the game, but came up big on the few quality chances the Preds had.

I don't agree - he made key saves when needed... nothing special but he made saves when needed!!! That's the main point!!!

One thought of mine on the game... Hudler needs to gain a little more patience. He could have easily put the puck past Ellis if he had waited instead of just knocking it right back into his pads.

i think we've been spoiled by datsyuk and zetterberg. we expect hudler and flip to develop into these amazing players and i don't really think they have it in them. i can see flip develping into a relatively solid second liner, but i think hudler should go. he doesn't bring enough to the table. he's got a good shot, and can be crafty at times, but he's much too slow and small to ever make a real dent, imo.

but who knows, i was trash talking franzen a couple months ago and now look at him. i really trash-talked kronwall before this year and at the beginning of this year and now i have to say he really seems to ge coming into his own.

maybe i'm the one who needs to gain a little patience...

that was actually my point. He made the key saves when needed.

I think his performance was much like Ellis's. Not a ton of quality chances, but made the big saves when needed. Thankfully Ellis just came up one short.

So with that here is the teams fighting for the last spots in the West, and our potential round one opponents.

Rank Team G/R W L OTL Points

6 - Calgary Flames 4 40 28 10 90

7- Colorado Avs 3 42 31 6 90

8 - Nashville Preds 3 39 31 9 87

9 - Vancouver Canucks 4 38 30 10 86

10 - Edmonton Oilers 2 40 34 6 86

Notes:

Calgary - All of Calgarys remaining games are on the road and the play Vancouver twice.

Colorado - Tie-breaker, the have more wins

Nashville - 1 point up on the Canucks, but have one less game than Van

Vancouver - Remaining games at home, play Calgary twice, Edmonton and Colorado

Edmonton - Basically need to win both remaining games and needs Nashville and Vancouver to burry themselves.

The Wings probably could have ended that game much earlier, had they actually shot the puck once in a while instead of looking for the perfect pass every time.

Oh well. They still won anyways, so I'm not complaining. :)

Wow - still mad because Hasek got SO??? Are you Detroit fan or Hasek hater?

i'm mad because hasek got the SO?

Wtf are you talking about??? I said he made great saves. I said he made the huge saves when needed.

I wasn't even talking to you. I was responding to hank who's calling people out as being homers, then makes it sound like Hasek won this game by himself and is back to the form he had 10 years ago.

I'm really happy with how Hasek played. I just see irony in calling people out as homers when you're saying those things. Everyone has the players they like more and it colors their performance on the ice.

Again, didn't say he had a bad game. I'm saying it's a little overkill to say he played awesome. He didn't play awesome. 6 shots on goal is your argument? That means jack to me. And all his "great" play making didn't result in anything whatsoever. And just because he didn't hand the opposing team a goal today, doesn't mean I give him tons of props. You could say he played pretty well, or that he didn't play bad. But when I hear someone say AWESOME I think of a little more contribution then 6 shots on goal.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hudler needs to go - keep Flip he's going to be solid two-way player

I was also trash talking about Franzen - and know I feel great about his recent play... he needs to be more constant and he will be fine...

Kronwall - he needs to stay healthy cause now he'S getting paig like $6m per season (playing average of 48 games...)

I don't know why I even bother replying to your posts. Your logic on how a player is suppose to play in order to be considered having a good or 'awesome' game is just off. But hey! That's your opinion. All the more power to ya.

Dom didn't have to do much through much of the game, but came up big on the few quality chances the Preds had.

Thanks, you just made my point for me. Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. I would be JUST as pumped for Ozzie getting the shutout. No matter what, it's impressive to get a SO in the NHL. Sure, the preds didn't light things up by any means. But the few chances they did get, Dom was right there to shut them down. So you can go ahead and abandon that little "bias for Dom" theory. Cause like I said, I'm always just as stoked when Ozzie does it. It just happens to be my opinion that Dom is the better netminder for us during the post season.

Technically, DOM did steal this game. He came up big several times and had a one-on-one with a quality shooter on a break-away... and won. If that puck went in, there would have been on OT. Dominator stole this game regardless if you want to admit it or not.

Technically? Like there's some rule book on this???

He wasn't tested early, but made the big saves when called upon. I'm completely happy with his performance, and I'm not gonna argue with a Hasek slappy.

So with that here is the teams fighting for the last spots in the West, and our potential round one opponents.

(...)

it looks like we're doomed for Nucks or Preds. neither look overly

sexy too me. Nashville excels in playing most boring kind of hockey

against us and Vancouver has Bobby Lou who might be a problem

in playoffs. both teams look like having no serious offense and skill

so it's quite obvious we'll likely see utterly boring 1st round of

Wings. and plenty of perimeter shots from our team

I was hoping for Dives but Preds and Nucks seem to be really

going for low place and play so s***ty that it must be one of them

to finish 8th

I'm sorry if I miss it - I got impression that you are one of Hasek haters... even if he's good they still find something negative about his play... sorry - my bad.

very very happy with the Red Wings performance as a whole today.

Hasek came back the absolute perfect way. Shuts down the Preds - couldn't have hoped for a better day from him on his return.

Predators proved today they can indeed hang with us, most likely calling for a rough series as far as physical play goes. But if they are gonna call upon Dan Ellis to stand on his head obviously their chances arent very good. all in all im just very excited to see a Wings big win go up against a potential and probable 1st round opponent depending a lot on tonights scores.

well done Wings!

yes, because I disagree with you, I must not know what I'm talking about.

I totally agree with the statements in bold. But then you go on about HAsek which is fine, while ridiculing someone else to say Hudler had a great game.

You're not the be all end all on what qualifies for a great performance. It drives me nuts when people call each other homers here, because NEWSFLASH: We're all Wings homers or we wouldn't be here.

Damn, I wish Franzen would be a staple on the top line with Dn'Z. I mean I love Holmer and all(always have) but quite frankly, I think i'm starting to prefer Franzen out there. I mean for quite a while up untill Holmer got injured, I thought he was playing terrible(sloppy passes, terrible skating, not such good hands) and now I watch Johan out there and he is the exact opposite of that. Right now, the guy is playing like a fine tuned machine, I love it. I saw a post the other day(maybe yesterday) that said something in the effect of Holmer has better skating and hands, etc. Honestly, I think if you took Holmstrom off his jersey, no one would think that anymore.

Anyhow, awesome game Dom

I was hopin' to see some points out of Pavs, but to no avail, oh well he can't get 'em every game.

Oh and it seems things are changin. With our luck since the allstar game, that breakaway toward the end there would of been a goal everytime and just shatter everyone's hopes of a win, but no way, not today, Dom set his foot down(though he didn't really have to do much on it) but it just seems those ones have ben tricklin in for some time now.

One more thing, with everyone bickering about Huds, if he's playin good or not. I agree with the person who said we are expecting too much of him. Though, I think he has potential, this seems to be as good as it gets for him at this point. He played a good game, he just can't finish anything for the life of him BUT that's why we don't look to him to be one of our op scorers. We've got Pavs, Z, Danny and lately Franzenstein for that. Damn, to be honest, I expect Lids and Raffy to score before he does, so I'm never upset about Hudler's lack of scoring.
