BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) I spin off way too many threads, but it is a topic that I haven't really seen discussed here for the 3 years I've been here so why not? Note: This is only counting their time with the Red Wings. It's fair to say a guy like Dominik Hasek is one of the best goalies ever, and Chris Chelios is one of the better defensemen ever, but their best days were not with the Wings... So including them in the top 10 seems invalid. Anyways... 1. Gordie Howe 2. Steve Yzerman 3. Terry Sawchuk 4. Nicklas Lidstrom 5. Sergei Fedorov 6. Ted Lindsay 7. Alex Delvecchio 8. Red Kelly 9. Brendan Shanahan 10. Norm Ullman Edited April 1, 2008 by BeeRYCE

Yes, I know he was better defensively and all that, but back then being a complete player didn't mean as much. Hell, Fedorov was a more complete player than Gordie Howe, but that doesn't mean he should be ahead of him too. Otherwise, your list looks pretty much what mine would look like if I wasn't too lazy to make one.

Booster313 138 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 What about players like Chelios, Hasek, and Hull...how much of their career do they have to play here to be consider greatest Wings of all time. Because those 3 certainly would qualify and some of the greatest in their respective roles.

Because those 3 certainly would qualify and some of the greatest in their respective roles. Read my original post. It's strictly based on their tenures with the Wings. Hasek, Hull, Robitaille, Chelios, Murphy, Sittler, Bucyk, Dionne, Coffey, Harvey, Salming... Are all elite names that have worn a Red Wing uniform, but their prime of their careers weren't with the Wings and/or they didn't spend nearly enough time with the Wings. Brendan Shanahan 10. Norm Ullman Good list BeeRYCE, the only thing I would do is switch Delvecchio and Fedorov, just because of the number of games Delvecchio played. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Why the hell isn't Probert on more people's lists? He should get special consideration just for what he did for the team. Hell, if it were up to me, he'd be in the Hall of Fame.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Why the hell isn't Probert on more people's lists? He should get special consideration just for what he did for the team. Hell, if it were up to me, he'd be in the Hall of Fame. I love Probert, I know him personally, and he is perhaps the best enforcer to ever play... But his Red Wing career was no more spectacular than guys like Draper, Osgood, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, etc. If you want to make an argument for Probie, you might as well include them guys as well.
