Reminder: Posting False/Misleading Threads

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Since this happened while I was away from my computer yesterday I didn't have a chance to act on it right away, but let this post service notice:

READ the Forum Rules.

Speficially, the "DOs and DON'Ts" section. There you'll see that if you post a false or misleading thread, you're banned -- permanently. The only exception to this rule is April 1st, for obvious reasons. Otherwise, that's it.

If people don't understand while that rule is in place, then they're right -- there is no place for them here. This forum isn't going to become the sounding board for immature posters that wish to "freak out" other members just for kicks.

I'll leave this pinned today and tomorrow and I consider that ample warning.

What was the infraction?

I missed it I think.

Somebody posted that Rafalski and Chelios were injured. They clarified in the same post that it was just a joke, but you had to read the post to know that, as the title did not indicate it was a joke.

is there actually a forum rules? i was wondering b4 and cant seem to find them.

I don't think that there are any rules. You are allowed to call Matt any name under the sun and nothing will happen. Foul language is also encouraged... :D

Chelios and Rafalski didn't play against Chicago last Sunday because they were injured. Babcock said that in an interview after the game and the video is on NHL.com in the NHLTV. There hasn't been a word that they are not injured anymore. Their injuries were propably minor because there hasn't been a bigger statement.

The Chelios and Rafalski injuries were also mentioned on the TSN playoff preview show, about one having a sore groin and the other with a sore neck, so I'd say there definitely is some truth to that although it doesn't seem to be anything major.

I saw the post and the only misleading thing was that it didn't say on the subject that the injuries weren't major. Do we even know the injuries aren't major? Propably not, but who knows?

I think the problem with the post was that the person said they posted it to intentionally mislead people. The poster said something to the effect that he wanted to get everyone riled up a little bit before they actually read the post. So, the post itself wasn't completely false, I think it was just the whole nature of it that was the problem. I don't want to speak for Matt or the other moderators in any way, but I'm pretty sure if the post had just said something like, "Babcock said after the game that Rafalski and Chelios didn't play because they have minor injuries" it would have been fine because that is the truth.

You wrote the post. Who are you trying to kid? It's not advisable to post under a different username. (This is the same person that posted the thread I speak of, yet a different username, FYI.)

Stop trying to act as if you're another individual defending it -- you're not. Lame.

Do people like that that do this don't think I notice?

Getting owned in the face like that is always good for a laugh, especially when it comes from the very top like that.

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you know if two people are the same person? Is it coming from the same computer or am I missing something?

Just wondering, because my sister and I sometimes use each others' when we visit.

We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you.
