McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 My favorite part of the game was when they were playing clips of Nashville's Zanon mic'ed up and after they scored their goal he skated by Hasek and was taunting "5 hole, 5 hole". Right after that, Detroit came down and score their goal off his foot. That was awesome
Jwo 7 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) After the puck went off Zannons skate and in the back of Nashville's net. I wonder if Zannon taunted Ellis. Edited April 13, 2008 by Jwo
Austin 5 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I think that the big difference between the two is that what was done at the Joe tonite was based solely on rather unsubstantial stereotypes usually used to garner a few easy laughs. Meanwhile, what was shown in Sacramento was a depiction of the grim reality that faces Detroit today. I am well aware that most people from Tenn don't play the banjo, piss in outhouses, live in shacks, and have only half their teethe. It's a lot like the stereotypes of Canada involving igloos, dogsleds, toques, etc. No one in Canada gets offended, because, for the most partthey are unsubstantiated. On the other hand, to make fun at the expense of MoTown's economic crisis that has had devastating effects on many lives is definitely below the belt. I think that there is a big difference. I agree that there is a difference. Absolutely. Do I think the difference excuses what was shown at the Joe tonight? Not at all.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) I guess to each their own... I mean they showed Bettmans mug on the big screen and tvs in the concourse for a LONG time... I was thoroughly disgusted and offended... but i will live to see another day. There is a huge difference to showing burnt out actual DETROIT building and made up s*** down in Nashville. I hope those offended don't actually watch the movie deliverance its distrurbing enough without actually being offended by what it implies. Same diff to me as showing U-M/MSU fans or Nash/Wings fans on the there and letting the crowd boo and cheer Then again I didn't really pay attention to the B-ball s*** nor did i get all offended by something on a jumbotron... i have bigger fish to fry than some audio/visual guy... more so like real life GRANHOLM... a person who is personally ******* with my life more than some one on the left coast of the country at a b-ball game. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I am going to include that in the game 2 highlights just for laughs. be sure and include the fans yelling, "deflection, deflection" at Zanon. here's a little factoid I found in an article: Dominik Hasek, Detroit’s starter, has a career playoff save percentage of .926, the highest since shot and save statistics began consistently appearing in newspaper summaries in 1952. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Thanks for the video, Osgod!!! It was great for those of us stuck far, far away from the Joe in the spring.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) It was my first playoff game too. It was AWESOME! I tried getting a closeup picture of Pierre interviewing Draper in the beginning to do some MS paint modifying to Pierre but it didn't work. The NHL.com article says they got breaks but the Wings really dominated this game. Hasek looked great except for that second goal. Kid Rock was there! Predators don't stand a chance. The 'Ellis' chants were awesome! I think I saw Pierre giving Nashville pointers in the second! Lol at Pierre giving shantyville pointers, as funny as that is it is probably true, great game, great atmosphere, great team what more can be asked? Kid Rock got a good ovation and i liked that the vets put up in this one (Dmac, Drapes, Lidstrom and Holmer), Holmer really needed one. Good stuff glad our first post season game was a victory. Heres to many more.......... CHEERS! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited April 13, 2008 by Yak19

sixer 37 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Don't know if this has been posted yet but, just throwing it out there: http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip45126#clip45126 Grrrr! I know, they are so BIASED! They talk nothing about their good play, Dom's great goaltending, only focus their entire intermission discussions around how that should have been a goal, Detroit got lucky, etc!!! I hope the Flames kill the Sharks tonight, all those guys who picked the Sharks can have it shoved in their faces.
Nero 20 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) Detroit won 4 - 2. Nashville had just under 60 minutes to make up for "the goal that almost was". They tied the game. Detroit scored the game winning goal early. They had tons of time to make up for it. They didn't. Even if there were calls or non-calls that didn't seem to go Nashville's way, they still had plenty of time to get opportunities - but they didn't. Instead Detroit shut them down towards the end of the game, and they were parading off to the penalty box for dumb actions with minutes left to go in the game. The media needs to shut up Edited April 13, 2008 by Nero

The media needs to shut up That isn't going to happen. I am OK with the media looking like idiots and ignoring the Wings' skill in winning. Let them yammer away. I think the Wings love being underestimated. We know who the better team is, and so does Nashville. Why else would they be so excited to get three goals (only one of them legit) on Hasek in two games? I hope someone on the Wings squad yells, "deflection, deflection!!" at Zanon every chance they get. Idiotic stuff like the taunts to legends like Chelios and Dom just fire the Wings up and make them play better. Nashville isn't savvy enough (or mature enough?) to know that their tactics just make the Wings stronger. The Preds played their best hockey in the first period yesterday, threw it all on the ice. I think that's really all they've got. I don't need to explain what that means, if you look at the result of the first 20 yesterday...

I'd still take Terry Sawchuk over anyone else. Until the past fifteen years or so, what was considered a 'shot' at one rink might not be at another...so the reliability of the stats was limited in that regard. Much like stuff like hits, giveaways, and takeaways now.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 When DMac scored the first goal i went nuts, i lost my voice just screaming after that goal.. Awesome... Dom played very well that's forsure..
