WQF Game 3 (4/14) GDT: Predators 5, Red Wings 3

1 goal leads?

This team has blown a couple of 2 goal leads the last few games.

They're starting to remind me of the Sharks with how inept they are at keeping leads. The funny thing is that the annoucers on Versus were ranting the whole 3rd period about how suffocating our defense is.

Amazing how soft goaltending can make the defense look silly, since they played pretty well in the 3rd.

that's ridiculous, so back you go, to the ignore list. :bye2:

Just remember, we could be Anaheim... I don't envy their situation one little bit

Exactly. It ain't like their goalie is "bailing them out". I'm kind of curious who IS by this board's definition.

For the record, there are two goalies in the league who haven't lost a playoff game yet: Turco and Fleury. Neither of whom have ever won a playoff series. The "top notch goalies" out there aren't faring so well. Giguere is getting lit up. Nabokov sure as hell didn't "Bail his team out" last night. Nor did Kipper. Luongo couldn't "bail his team out" when they needed to make the playoffs. Marty Brodeur has lost twice. I guess you could count Cujo, but Wings fans sure treated him well didn't they....

Plenty of blame to go around in this one--and Dom deserves some of it. But Lilja, Stuart, Kronwall, Chelios, and a slew of others could've "Bailed the team out" too.

No one stops the first, second, or fourth goals. Sure it'd be nice if Dom went go, go, gadget arm and made the save, but it'd be nice if we potted a couple more goals too. The third goal sucked. It happens.

It's one loss. We weren't going 16-0 no matter how much people might demand it. They still have to beat us 3 out of 4. For all the doom and gloomers, anyone want to make a bet about that happening? Didn't think so....Wings in 5.

Its quite obvious that this team doesn't have alot of really glaring faults and I don't know if this has been mentioned somewhere else in this thread but has anyone noticed how we play like a bunch of chicken's with our head's cut off after the other team's we play score a goal. For a team with such a strong veteran presence you would think that we could be more calm after we get scored on. Anywho..we are still up 2-1, we just need to tighten it up a bit...we have these glaring 3-4 minute stretches where we are just tragic. IMO we could use a little more speed on the back end which would mean bringing either Lebs or Meech or both into the lineup. Chelly, Lilja, and Stuart looked like slugs at some times tonight. Just my 2 cents..might be all it's worth!!

It's been that way all season. Now Arnott of all people is out of his coma.

It's definitely some mental block that needs to be fixed. After the last game they didn't make a big deal out of it since they won, but it has to stop.

Id like to think professional baseball players dont let grounders roll between their legs, s*** happens, can't be perfect, professionals bounce back, as the Wings have done before.

OK, but I don't see too many of them committing two or three successive errors, two or three games in a row. I'm done with this subject now - the replay of the Tiger game has just started - it'll be nice to watch some winners!!! ;)

I think the key to tonight loss was being unable to get a 4th goal in the 3rd when we were up 3-2. If we were able to make the score 4-2, Nashville probably wouldn't have scored at all.

We let them stay in the Game.

Honestly, this is the first time I ever remember this really being a problem. I don't ever remember things like this in the reg. season. Granted my memory is s*** for things like this.

2-1 series lead for DRW... thats the end of it for now.

This situation is nothing new.

We will play Red Wings hockey on Wednesday and take the series back to the Joe up 3-1.

Lets not blame players or coaches or refs.

Im going to rub one out and go to sleep.

See you Wednesday.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor guy was invisible the first two games...

The Wings need to get better at momentum shifts. That's two games in a row where there has been 2 goal barrages by the Predators. Once in game two, and twice tonight. Without these lapses by Detroit we are going into Wednesday with a sweep.

The D needs to tighten up.

Besides, if we swept Nashville, we'd lose all our momentum waiting for the second round to start. It's better for the team this way, plus Mr. I gets an extra home date, which helps pay the bills. Big picture, people :)

For me, the real story of this game is how the Predators initiated all the physical contact tonight. The Wings appeared to me to be shying away from the contact late in the game. I don't think that's a coincidence; I think the Preds wore 'em down.

The Wings need to start finishing checks and taking the body when they have the opportunity. They've done that, just not tonight. I believe this was really their undoing because it led to what appeared to be a random late game collapse, but was really a logical progression from the tone Nashville set up to that point.

We need to dress Downey for the next game. We've never lost a playoff game with him in the lineup.

Has there been any post game press conference yet?

Hopefully Hasek will tell us that he took some acid midway through the 3rd period, and then I'll let him off the hook for those 2 soft goals.
