People really need to realize we are going to lose some games. And there is no reason to throw the same whipping boys under the bus every time it happens. We should just sticky a Lilja/Hasek/Samuelsson/Babcock/Small Euros bashing thread so we can save bandwidth by using the same one every time we lose.

Get over it. Lilja will be back next season unless he decides he doesn't want to be here. Holland has already given him a 2 year deal.

First and foremost I don't think Crymson expects to go 16-0. I think he has a ligetimate complaint about an underachiever. Sure he fought here and there but his defensive skills are lacking. I am not sure Lebda is the answer since he plays alot like Lilly. I think there are alot of people I would rather have then Lillypads.

For some of here on LGW we feel like the person we pick on is the only one that deserves it. If all your input is just to ridicule a thread started with knowledge and facts then don't post. Everyone is grumpy tonight though.

I love when people start a "whining" thread about a certain players level of play from that days game, yet they fail to realize there's a GDT for that exact type of conversation.

I, for one, don't mind the separate thread at all. I really don't like the GDT threads, which is why you will very rarely see me post in one of them. I think it is fine to chat during the actual game, but when the game is over, why not have discussions elsewhere?

My computer is normally off or closed (laptop) during games and when the game is over, I don't feel like posting in a thread of 38 pages. I find them really hard to follow.

if im not mistaking hasek is suppose to stop the puck thats what he is for so if and when defense breaks down he stops the puck how is that not hasek's fault(3rd goal).i just dont get how half the people blame defense and the other half of ya blame hasek.plain and simple if defense breaks down you stop the puck not let 2 in in less than 10 sec(in which seems to be happening all the damn time) buck up and stop the puck.

that was the 2nd goal, the 3rd goal was simply a puck that Hasek should have stopped on a long, not particularly hard slapper (I hate to criticize Dats because he was one of our bright spots last nite. However, I'm gonna give Hasek the benefit of the doubt and say that Dats getting his stick in front of the shot just before it was released maybe through Dom off of it a bit. I really don't think he should have done that. When the shot is from as far away as that one was, you just let him rip it and Dom (hopefully) makes the routine stop.)

Thats what i'm sayin, we win as a team and we loose as a team, but one person can blow a game...so lets excuse lilja for making a mistake, hasek has got to be there to back him up, letting in soft goals is inexcusable especially in the playoffs...Besides, during the season, how many games did hasek play consistantly before he started letting in softies? Hasek and osgood always split the time this season and even still hasek was mediocre(yes he had flashes of briliance but thats it). Give ozzie a shot. I'm not bashing hasek by any means, but why should he be expected to be a standout, load carrying goaltender now when he hasnt had to/couldnt be during the season?

thats funny you brought this up, I've been thinking this a lot myself. Lillypad makes boneheaded plays, not trying point fingers because we lost but he has made huge mistakes at crucial times in playoff games. the play against Selanne last year, and like you mentioned in Edmonton in 06. It makes me wonder though with his track record why would Babs have him on the ice at moments like these.

no time to panic we'll get this series back in our control, but its a game we should have won and had won. big moments of the game keep Lilly on the bench.

Are you serious? You can't possibly be blaming the WHOLE team's meltdown on Lilja. What about blaming Stuart then for pinching on the second Nashville goal? Every guy on the ice was out of position on the Arnott goal anyways.

The loss should be blamed on the Red Wings failure to continue forechecking after they got a 3-2 lead. When the play is in your own zone for the whole period, something bad is bound to happen, and it did. The whole team/coaching staff is at fault for sitting back, on the road, with a one goal lead. Hopefully the lesson was learned this time around.

For the record, I am by no means a Lilja fan. Despite the occasional bad mistake, Lilja is a good penalty killer and shot blocker. Certainly, Lilja has more to offer to the Red Wings than Brett Lebda or Derek Meech during the playoffs.

The Red Wings lost the game as a team. No need to find a scapegoat for the loss, much less targeting someone that doesn't even warrant the blame.
