Game 5 Gameplan

Anyone have any thoughts on the Wings game plan heading into game 5?

I think they should definitely put Osgood in, let Hasek sit out. Osgood played about half the game last night, and looked better than Hasek has looked all series. And yeah, maybe Detroit won the first two games with Hasek in net, but this is playoffs, he cannot afford to be letting in goals like he has been. Those goals are the difference makers, and they're the reasons why we didn't sweep the predators.

Next, I'm not sure if anyone agrees, but I seriously think we need to do something about our 4th line. I think they need to take out Hartigan! I watch a lot of other teams play, and the 4th line is their energy line. It's the line that goes out there and makes big hits and causes havoc for the other team, it allows teams to pick up energy and momentum. Our fourth line is lacking that, they're not out there changing the pace, causing havoc and bringing momentum.

Any other ideas wings fans????

Game plan:

1) Don't panic

2) Score first

3) When Preds score, don't overreact and give up the immeadiate scoring chance.

4) avoid unnecessary penalties, e.g. Draper's cross-check on PK

5) Don't dump and chase when the Preds are certain to get there first

6) Don't make hasty passes, especially to players who aren't likely to be able to take the pass, i.e. players that are covered or are turned away from the play

7) Don't allow soft goals

Having said that, Osgood is probably dying to prove he can get it done and he showed alot last nite. If there is any positive to last nites game it is the fact that Oz was solid and the team played much better once he was put in. I think they can ride that going into the game tomorrow. If the Wings score first tomorrow I think its lights out Nashville.

I also think Osgood should finish this series and then they should maybe give Dom a go in round 2 if we get there. I think at some point Hasek will rebound and be a beast.

if not there is no game plan we just ride the ship down... don't fix what is working... well it ain't working... fix it

I mean there is no panicking for a 9 game losing streak in the regular season.. but you also can't lose more than 4 in any 7 game stretch in the playoffs... we are down to our last two.

Oh and also Effing LOAD UP THE NET WITH EVERY PLAYER YOU GOT after they score one... cause two is right around the corner... hopefully that trend will be snapped with the replacement coming in.

1) Osgood in,Hasek out (you could feel the confidence in the way we play when he's in net)

2)Abdelkader in,Hartigan out (what does 44 bring?,and we could use a big,energetic rookie to crash and bang)

3) Play Mac or put in Downey (not to fight but to hit someone and get the crowd involved)

4)Get Sammy off the team,but at least off the powerplay and the second line. (he's third line at best)

5)we need Flip and Frazen to get going,they are the secondary scoring! Mix up the combos to see what works

6) Play the 4th line,as they have been efffective,and present a different look to the preds (dump and chase,crash and bang)

7)get the puck in deep,and go get it! Its the playoffs,all the fancy s**t is nice in the regular season

8)Tell Babs not to get outcoached again (should have made the goalie switch after the second goal,not the 3rd)

Other than that,everythings great!

hartigan played great last game i thought....i just think maybe putting in a helm or abdelkader would really give a spark cuz they are wanting to get in so bad, and i also think its time for a fight so our home crowd can get really loud and that will make a young team like nashville lose their composure

The power play needs to be better, and the wings need to get pressure on the puck in the corner. They went away from the forecheck in the last 2 games and they aren't able to sustain any pressure. I am not too worried about tomorrow. I think they'll pull out a win. What I don't want to see is this series going 7. It should have been a 5 game series tops.

Let's just focus on this game and get out of there with a win, and go shut Nashville down in Nashville on Sunday.

So is it just me, or did anyone notice a lot of shots right into the Predator players? It just seemed that almost half the shots they attempted, hit a predator. I understand the concept of using a screen, but if you're going to use a screen, don't him them!

Mentioned above, but we have to Score! And I want us to be physical. I want Detroit to make Nashville scramble. Lets have one of those first periods where they have to call a timeout, because their players look scared and are running around with no clue how to handle/contain our boys.
