OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 (edited) Who cares if it was already posted... good news everybody! although Downey for D-mac would have been much better Edited April 18, 2008 by OsGOD
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 "Naturally there’s a limit to what can be expected of a player making his NHL debut" Playoff debut I assume they mean? Interesting to read he was the guy everyone else wanted at the trade deadline, not surprised either. He's a great player, can't wait to see him out there tomorrow. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 I haven't seen this guy play, tell me a little about him!! PLEASE!! Small and very slight but has a tremendous worth ethic, is exceptionally quick and likes to play physical. Finished the season with the Griffins in great form, scoring at about a point per game over the last month or two.
umredwing11 2 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 (edited) Great move. Helm has a great work ethic, and will go hard into the corners. He'll get limited minutes, but I look forward to seeing him. Edited April 18, 2008 by umredwing11
jvxp 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Who cares if it was already posted... good news everybody! although Downey for D-mac would have been much better Great news on Helm , he has incredible speed. Totally agree with the above post. I wish they would also do a Downey for D-mac switch also.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 I have no problem with this move at all. Im hoping his speed will cause problems for the Preds
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 I have no problem with this move at all. Im hoping his speed will cause problems for the Preds That is why Hartigan was kept, instead of Ellis. His speed. The fourth line didn't play much in the last game. We things working in the first two games, then they decide to make changes based on what Nasville can do with line changes in game 3. The Wings need to be forcing Nashville to make the changes, not the other way around.
redwings56 1 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Helm hasn't shown anything yet, given he hasn't had ANY ice time in the regular season, he had as much as Downey had per game. Give him some experience, should be good.
Turkey 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 I'm actually pretty excited about this. It's a great chance to see Helm play on TV and I've been unenthusiastic about Hartigan so far.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Well, I guess he can't be any more useless than Hartigan, but I'd still like to see Downey play, to give us a true checking line.

You're probably right, not that I agree with it.. SHOW ME ABDELKADER BABCOCK! ..come to think of it, why isn't he playing with the Griffins? Is he still at school or something? SliderJeff 11 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Wow, I'm actually a little surprised at this. Seeing him play the few minutes per game that he got near the end of the regular season, I wasn't super impressed. He was another small dude who lost the puck easily and didn't seem overly fast. He wasn't a pylon, but I didn't think "wow... he looks like The Flash out there" either. I'm hoping that he brings all the things we are wishing for to the table, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Hartigan was starting to irk me anyway, given his penchant for dumb penalties. Too bad we couldn't play a bag of pucks instead of Sammy. He might be an agitator, but we need SCORING, not another goofball that wan'ts to trade "Yo mama" insults in the scrums that occur after every other whistle. LET'S GO RED WINGS! Later, Jeff
DYags 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 griffins season is over Well in that case, he'll be just as "rusty" as Abdelkader! I think you'll find I have a lot of love for The Kader

barabbas16 499 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 I like this, but I don't think it really matters. Darren Helm or Mark Hartigan does not equal an answer one way or the other for us. These are the names that need to make a difference tonight: Osgood, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Rafalski, Cleary, Holmstrom, Franzen, Kronwall...you get the idea. I like Helm getting his first playoff experience, but it doesn't really matter - Helm/Hartigan.
